VARSITY GAME UPDATES:

9/5/2009 @ Webster Thomas. Varsity traveled to Thomas and brought home the W! Ryan Decker’s interception returned for a TD sparked the Panthers. Strong offensive performances delivered by Shawn Fitzpatrick, Dan Galliard, and Dom Delucia moved the Panthers to more points late in the second and fourth quarters. Ryan Sullivan intercepted two passes to shut down 2 Thomas drives, deep in Panther territory. The defensive line held Thomas all day and delivered the shutout with a final score of 20-0 –This was a true team effort! Record 1-0

9/12/2009  vs East High @ Sutherland High School.  The Panthers defense posted its second consecutive shutout, dominating East High School by the final score of 21-0.  SS Ryan Sullivan and MLB Alex Proper led the team with 10 tackles a piece, and Sullivan added a fumble recovery for his third takeaway of the young season. QB Sean Fitzpatrick hit WR Ben Gartland on a 78-yard hook-up to seal the Panthers' victory. Watch the game on TWSC Channel 16 - Tuesday Night @ 7pm if you missed it. (That’s TODAY!)

The Panthers (2-0) travel to Fairport (0-2) on Thursday

9-16-09 @ Fairport – Our Varsity Panthers traveled to Fairport on Thursday afternoon and took a quick lead with a 70-yard TD run by QB Sean Fitzpatrick on only the game’s second play from scrimmage. The Panthers offense continued its strong first-half play with several great carries by Dom DeLucia and Dan Gaillard. The entire O-Line, led by sophomore C Joe Graen and Junior LG Dominic O’Shaughnessy, led the way throughout the half. Fitzpatrick connected with TE Kenny Apostolakos for 2 key receptions to keep the Panthers drives alive. The Panthers defense continued its streak of scoreless football deep into the 2nd quarter behind the stingy play MarcAnthony Bucci (2 sacks) and junior LBs Ian Solcz and Alex Proper. SS Ryan Sullivan earned his fourth takeaway with a fumble recovery forced by CB Ryan Decker, but Fairport’s O-line began to show some signs of life. In the second half, Fairport went back to the smash-mouth football they are known for, wedge-blocking their way to 2 TDs and the potential game-tying extra point. But CB Ben Gartland streaked around Fairport’s left end and blocked the kick, allowing it to fall harmlessly well short of the uprights. Final score 14-13. Third straight Panthers win. A great effort by all against a “better than advertised” Fairport club.  Varsity Panthers. Record 3-0. Next up: Homecoming against the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets @ St. John Fisher College; kick-off Saturday, 9/26, at 3:00 p.m.
