Warrior Volleyball: Stars of Tomorrow

DO YOU WANT TO BECOME A PHILOMATH WARRIOR VOLLEYBALL PLAYER SOMEDAY?

Here are three ways to get started

1.  Play volleyball for PYAC (Fall) or, Boys & Girls Club (Fall/Spring).

2.  Attend Camps, including the Lil’Warriors (grades 3-5) and Young Warriors (grades 6-8) Camps in July (8th & 10th respectively).

3.  Play Junior Olympic Volleyball.

Many sports help volleyball, but playing volleyball is the quickest way to develop your skills so that you may one day don the black, white and gold of a Philomath Warrior volleyball player.

Why PYAC?  Playing for PYAC helps develop the enjoyment of team play and to learn the basics of bump, set, spike, and serving.  Their web site is located at http://www.pyac.org/

Why Boys & Girls Club?  Boys & Girls Club offers a competitive volleyball league for elementary and middle school aged kids in both the fall and the spring.  Spring season consists of a highly competitive league.  Albany and Corvallis both have Boys & Girls Clubs.  It is possible to also arrange to form a Philomath team for elementary and middle schoolers to compete in this league.  This league is competitive because middle schools in the valley do not, for the most part, have volleyball teams in the schools.

Why Camps?  Camps allow you to receive instruction to teach you proper fundamentals of the game from the high school players and coaches.

Why Junior Olympic Volleyball?   Junior Olympic Volleyball helps players rapidly develop with other girls in their age-group.  The competition includes girls from all over the state of Oregon, Washington and California.  National Qualifier tournaments are held for any of the teams from various regions to compete for the limited 28 spots at the Junior Olympic Nationals.  At Nationals, teams compete from all over the country for gold, silver and bronze medals.  At higher age groups, girls are actively scouted at the National Qualifiers and Junior Olympic tournaments, as well as the local tournaments.  For more information, visit www.usavolleyball.org

Bottom line, just start playing volleyball!
