Petaluma Little League Signups – Junior and Senior Division are continuing

Petaluma National Little League is continuing to take sign-ups for their Junior and Senior Division Players. Youth age 13 to 16 (by April 30) are eligible to play in these exciting games and can still sign-up for the 2009 Season.

In Petaluma, the Junior Divisions of our three leagues (National, American, and Valley) play games against each other all season. Following the season, a round-robin tournament determines a City Champion. Each league then chooses and All-Star team for the District 35 (Sonoma & Mendocino Counties) Tournament.

The Junior League World Series is held every year in Taylor, Michigan. Youth age 13 and 14 are eligible to play in the Junior League.

Petaluma Senior League works a bit differently. Teams select players from all that have signed up city wide.  The Petaluma Senior League teams compete against leagues in Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, and Healdsburg during their season.

Following the regular season, the Petaluma teams determine their City Champions. The Senior League sends a single, combined All-Star team to the District Playoffs. Last year’s team made it to the final game before losing to a formidable El Molino squad.

The Little League Senior Division World Series are held annually in Bangor, Maine. Youth age 15 and 16 (by April 1) are eligible to play in the Senior League.

Junior and Senior League games in Petaluma are played at Casa Grande High School, Aparicio (?) field, and at Prince Park.  These older divisions of Little League baseball introduce leading off, balks, pick-off moves, and standard (90’ basepath) baseball field dimensions to the Little League experience.

Contact the Registrar or Information Officer for more information.

Big League Returns in 2009

The Petaluma Senior League is hoping to bring Big League Baseball back to Petaluma in 2009.  Youth age 17 and 18 (by April 1) are eligible to sign up for Little League Baseball’s most senior division.

League opponents are still being finalized, but will likely include squads representing Marin, Walnut Creek, Concord, Burlingame and Fairfield.

Teams will play a minimum of twelve games from late-May through early-July, before advancing to a Division Championship. The Big League World Series is held every year in Easley, South Carolina.

Interested players and should contact the PNLL Division Vice President Dante Del Prete.
