Gomes back in Majors

Back in the world of sports, did you see where Petaluma’s Jonny Gomes has signed with the Cincinnati Reds?  Gomes had a tough season for Tampa Bay last year and was released during the off-season. Although he hit just .182 with eight homes and 21 RBIs in part of a season with the Rays, Gomes has shown he can hit Major League pitching with power. You have to believe there is a spot in the majors for a proven power hitter who once blasted three home runs in a game. And Gomes is more than just a hitter. He is total hustle. whether on the bases or in the field and, as any who has ever played with him can attest, he always has his teammates’ backs in any kind of altercation. Just ask the Boston Red Sox.
