Saturday, February 25 Ryan Nicoletta Finishes Third in New York Ryan Nicoletta capped off a successful senior season by finishing third in the New York State Championships for large schools. Congratulations Ryan! Wednesday, February 22 Ryan Nicoletta Wins State Qualifier Ryan Nicoletta will represent section V (and Penfield) for large school 112lb weight class after winning at the super-sctionals state qualifier. Wednesday, February 22 2005/06 Patriots Pin Down Success at Sectionals Penfield had unprecedented success sending nine wrestlers to the super-sectionals capping the Patriots' most successful season. The finalists moving on to the super-sectionals state qualifiers were; 96 - Rich Bottoglia (4th) 112 - Ryan Nicoletta (1st) 125 - CJ Fogle (2nd) 135 - Devan Cattucci (4th) 140 - Connery Wheaton (3rd) 145 - Jeff Goff (4th) 152 - Josh Salmon (2nd) 160 - Dave Petrone (4th) 215 - Lino Dianetti (2nd) Patriots win Monroe County Division I Title Penfield defeated Greece Athena 39-22 in the last dual meet of the season to be the Monroe County Division I Champions! This win, after victories over Fairport and Rush Henrietta, keeps the patriots undefeated in dual meets. the Patriots' next dual meet will be against Pittford January 4th for first place in Monroe County Division I. Folge dec. 7-3; 135: Devon Cattucci pin 5:39; 140: Connery Wheaton pin 1:48; 145: Jeff Goff dec. 4-2; 189: Kevin Langdon dec. 2-1; 215: Lino Dianetti dec. 7-5. 2004-2005 Season Articles Penfield Wrestlers Back to their Winning Ways After two tough dual meets against state ranked Brockport and Rush Henrietta, the Patriots returned to their dual meet success in a big way defeating Eastridge 60 - 3 to bring their dual record to 5-2. Patriots Make Strong Showing at Genesee Valley Tournament The Varsity Patriots finished a close second out of 30 teams in the Genesee Valley Tournament held at Geneseo High School December 28-29, 2004. Top finishers for Penfield were John Dupont (champion), Ryan Nicoletta (champion), CJ Fogle (2nd), Devon Catucci (4th), Derek Weed (4th), Josh Salmon (3rd) and Brandon Pearce (2nd). This match also highlights the direction of the Penfield program when contrasting to last year's dual meet against Fairport which the Patriots lost 60-3. Fogle dec., 135 Derek Weed pin, 140 Devon Cattucci pin, 145 Jeff Goff pin, 152 - Josh Salmon pin, 189 - Wes Miles pin Varsity Success at Hunter Holiday Tournament The Varsity Patriots finished fifth in the 2004/2005 season Hunter Holiday Tournament held at Penfield High School December 18, 2004. Top finishers for Penfield were CJ Fogle (champion), John Dupont (2nd), Ryan Niccoletta (3rd), Josh Salmon (3rd), Devan Catucci (4th) and Jeff Goff (4th made it to consolation finals but lost by forfeit due to NYS five match limit). Penfield wins again at Greece Athena In the darkness of the Greece Athena gym, the patriots again came out on top 36-25. Great start for dual season The Patriots began their dual meet season against a full Churchville Chili team with a convincing 53-15 win. Penfield wrestlers scored seven pins, one tech. fall and two decisions for their 53 points.
