Payson Little League officer Jeri Stockman says individual player tryouts held Feb. 28 at Rumsey Park were a huge success with 300-plus baseball and softball players showing up.

She also praised parents for their cooperation, “We would like to thank all the parents for the support.”

Despite the big numbers that turned out, more girls are needed in the 6- to 8-year-old “coach pitch” league and the 9 to 11 years “fast pitch” division.

Also on the Little League agenda, a benefit rummage sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 21 in the Walmart parking lot.

Those who would like to contribute gently used items for the sale can log on to Little League’s Web site www.eteamz.com/paysonlittleleague for drop-off information.

Also to earn much-needed funds, league officials will be selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts and raffle tickets, $10 each or three for $25, which has a grand prize of a big-screen television.

“We invite everyone to come out and support their Little League organization,” Stockman said.
