Pop Warner Little Scholars is the oldest and largest youth football, cheer and dance organization in the United States.More than 350,000 boys and girls, 35,000 coaches, and 750,000 plus parents and friends are a part of Pop Warner. It is estimated that more than 3+ million volunteers and supporters nationwide follow Pop Warner.Pop Warner participants range in age from five to fifteen, with the majority in the eight to thirteen age range. Yes, girls can play football and boys are allowed to be cheerleaders. Flag and tackle football, cheerleading, and dance programs can be found in over forty states and in countries such as Germany, Mexico, Russia, and Japan.
Pop Warner is the only national youth sports organization emphasizing academic excellence. Athletes must demonstrate satisfactory classroom progress each year before they are allowed to compete. Pop Warner recognizes first and second team Academic All-American scholar/athletes, and provides scholarships for higher education on a yearly basis.
Pop Warner is the oldest established Coaching Education & Instruction Program among any of the national youth sports organizations. Keeping the program safe and fun for all participants is among Pop Warner's highest priorities. Pop Warner provides the only national youth football program rulebook, to assure consistency and safety.
Pop Warner has expanded working relationships with the NFL, NFL Players Inc., Walt Disney World, Walt Disneyland, Fox/Fox SportsNet, NBC, ESPN/ABC and a growing number of corporate contributors, sponsors and, licensers such as Reebok, US Airways, First USA, Wilson, and many more.
With school budget cuts eliminating Elementary/Middle School extra-curricular activities, Pop Warner has become an important ally to local schools and parks & recreation programs.High School football and cheer coaches rely on Pop Warner athletes as the ones who have had proper training in the fundamentals in their sport. These scholar/athletes are the ones who show discipline, teamwork, and strong leadership in all levels of the sport.
