About The Parkview Mustangs

The Independent Youth Football League (I.Y.F.L.) is the oldest 11 man tackle football program in Central Arkansas. The league is maintained by volunteer coaches, parents, cheerleader sponsors, and businesses throughout Little Rock, North Little Rock and Jacksonville. The Parkview Mustangs Youth Football & Cheerleading, Inc. is a part of this league.

The Mustang Organization allows young players and cheerleaders ages 5-12 to participate in a program which promotes self-esteem and self-worth, while building qualities that include sportsmanship, self-discipline, citizenship and the overall “team concept.” We have over 150 youth participating in our program annually and we now have 5-6 yr. olds playing flag football!!

We would like to think that by their involvement in our program, all children will strive to become good citizens and future leaders in our community. This program exists for the sole purpose of children. Our main goal is to build good, strong, upstanding youth, who are fit both physically and mentally. Through football and cheerleading, we give these young people a fun and wholesome alternative to drugs, alcohol, gang involvement, and crime.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and we feel blessed to have such an outstanding program promoting the youth of our communities. We know that this would not be possible without the many parents and volunteers who devote so much of their time to the children in this organization. We’re proud to say that we have consistently had an outstanding cheer squad and football team at all age levels throughout the years.

Registration News

Registration for both football players and cheerleaders will be July 12th and July 19th, 2008.

These are not the only days that players or cheerleaders may sign up. Registration will take place at each practice until October 1st. That is the last day that any child can sign up for participation on any team in our league. If you have not completed the necessary paperwork for your child(ren), please see Beverly Griffin, Dena Woods or your child’s Team Mom as soon as possible.

We must have a registration form, the necessary paid registration fee ($50.00) and a copy of the birth certificate on file for every child participating in the program for eligibility purposes.

Uniform Information
All football parents are responsible for purchasing practice gear for your child or children. This package consists of helmet, shoulder pads, white practice jersey, white practice pants, and pads for the pants. Parents are also responsible for purchasing each football players' game pants (black) as well. You can get a football practice package and game pants from either Sportstop on Rodney Parham or from Troy’s Sporting Goods on Baseline Road. You must also purchase black rubber-soled football cleats. The Parkview Mustangs Youth Football & Cheerleading, Inc. will provide a game jersey for each player.

Letter Jackets
Team jackets will again be available to team players, cheerleaders or parents to order. We will be placing our order early in the season to ensure that these jackets come back before our end-of-the-year trip in December.

EVERY PLAYER & CHEERLEADER DESERVES TO HAVE ONE OF THESE!!!

Fundraising
Raising money is vital to our program’s success!!!

For the 19th year, the Parkview Mustangs Youth Football and Cheerleading, Inc.  will have fundraisers. These are our biggest and most important events each season. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and this generates the revenue that we need in order to keep the organization running and helps take care of necessary expenses for the organization. The money that we raise through the fundraisers can reduce your out-of-pocket expenses later on if everyone puts forth the effort.

Absolutely no one is allowed at a Mustang or IYFL-sanctioned event to solicit monies, prizes, or other promotional items for which the Parkview Mustangs Youth Football and Cheerleading, Inc. is not the sole beneficiary. Any person(s) not adhering to this policy will be asked to leave the premises immediately and the proper authorities will be notified.

Practice

It is important that you get your child to all scheduled practices on time. Practices will be Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 6:00pm before school starts in the fall (weather permitting). After school starts, we will scale back practices to Tuesdays & Thursdays only. Attendance is compulsory unless illness or an emergency occurs. If a player is not in the designated practice area on time each week, he will forfeit game time. If you know that you are going to be late or absent, it is imperative that you contact your child’s head coach or sponsor.

Also, be advised that if there is a weather cancellation on one of our regular scheduled practice days, a make-up practice may be scheduled for a Wednesday or Friday.

Parent/Coach Communication

We believe that it is important for you to be informed about things that are going on with the teams and the organization. However, because of time constraints and other obligations, we are not always able to give you the information as soon as we receive it. We do ask that if feasible, you provide us with a viable e-mail address, home phone, work phone and cell phone numbers to speed along the communications process. Look for us on this web site. We’re asking that you call the head coaches or check the website for practice or game cancellations in the event of inclement weather.

Coach Prince William's (11-12 yr. olds) cell number is 501-541-1247,

Coach Len Smith's (9-10 yr. olds) cell number is 501-680-2548,

Coach Gerren Frazier’s (7-8 yr. olds) cell number is 501-247-9778 and

Coach Ryan Dickerson's (5-6 yr. old flag) cell number is 501-612-7662.

Our Cheerleading Coordinator, Amanda Hendrick’s (5-12 yr. olds) cell number is 501-231-7939.

Again, we must ask that you express your concerns directly to the coaches if you have a problem or concern. If for any reason, you are dissatisfied with anything concerning the Mustang Organization please do not vent your frustrations with anyone except the head coaches or board members. Although the assistant coaches play an important role in the program, for the benefit of the players, the head coaches are ultimately the ones who are in the position to make decisions for the team. So rather than putting them in the middle of a conflict, please address your issues with the head coach or cheer sponsor of your child’s team.

We are requesting this in an effort to keep the lines of communication clear and open. If you have a concern, please be forthright and take it up with the ones who can take care of your problem instead of creating animosity or stirring up strife in the program. The program is for the kids. Please keep this in mind when expressing your dissatisfaction with anything that you think we may have done wrong against you or your child. Your concern should be for your own personal child and not anyone else’s. We assure you that we would never intentionally do anything to hurt any child in this program. So again, let’s work together for the best interest of the children.
