Parkland Softball League: Mallory Bomboy Tournament

 3rd Annual Mallory Bomboy Memorial Softball Tournament  

            The Mallory Bomboy Memorial Softball Tournament Committee along with the Parkland League, Northern Lehigh West End Playground Association, the Walnutport Playground and the Lehigh Valley Umpires Association are pleased to announce that the 3rd annual softball tournament will be held on Saturday, April 25^th, with rain date of Sunday, April 26^th. We are expecting 60 teams, 750 girls from 25 different softball organizations to participate in this great event. The games will be played at fields in the Slatington - Walnutport area, as well as fields at Ormrod.

With the help of sponsors like yourself, the last 2 years, over $22,000 was raised in Mallory’s memory. Time has not healed the wounds inflicted by the loss of Mallory 3 years ago, Mallory’s enthusiasm, team spirit and zest for life touch a lot of hearts and her loss is still being felt throughout the community. The officers and the Bomboy family have distributed $6500 for college scholarships to 8 Parkland League senior students from 3 different high schools. $4,000 has been given back to the family’s Mallory Bomboy Scholarship. Last Christmas the committee helped a local family to have a better Christmas.

            And finally we have donated $6,000 to the Eagles Nest Building Fund. If anyone has passed the Eagles Nest Complex lately you can see that the multi-purpose building is under roof and progress is being made toward its completion. Last year $3500 was awarded to Coplay Sports to help replace their facilities that were destroyed in a fire the year before.

            All funds raised in this year’s tournament will be distributed in a similar manner. Scholarships, needy families in our area, or donated to one of the participating organizations that are in the process of a capital improvement project. After the tournament the committee will meet with the Bomboy family and discuss the distribution of funds to keep Mallory’s spirit alive.

            Each of the players pay an entrance fee of $10.00, for which in return they receive a memorial shirt, play 2 games and make a donation to the cause. It is the committees hope that your business may be interested in participating in some fashion.
