the Tickets for Las Vegas 51's little league day are coming!

51's game tickets are being handed out! Team parents and coaches it is very important that you explain to all your families. Our entire league is given a section to sit in. The seats assigned on your ticket do not matter. You can sit any where you want in that section. this way teams can sit together people of different teams can sit together. the ticket is basically to get you in to the park. it is like going to the movies. once you are in the park and in the section for our league you can sit where you want with who you want. You do not have to go to where the ticket says you sit. Just need to be in that section. There is a letter in each package of ticket explains all this. see everyone on Sunday!

Pitching Guidelines and correct rest days.

Recently some questions have come up as to that is the correct guidlines for pitch limits and rest days.

The sheet in your packetts labled: PVLL / SMLL Pitcher eligabilitty tracking form. has the correct info on it.

Daily limits are as follows

7/8 50 pitches

9/10 75 pitches

11/12 85

13-16 95

Rest periods

1-20 No rest

21-35 1 day

36-50 2 days

51-65 3 days

66= 4 days of rest

1 day is defined as 1 calander day. So if you have a pitcher who throws 55 pitches on the 21st they can not pitch again till the 25th.

The uniforms are here!

It is a great time right now. what every player and parent has been waitting for. the uniforms are here. Most teams have all gotten theres we have 5 more that will get theres on friday night!

All teams except for T-ball wil receave 1 hat, 1 jersey, 1 pair of socks. (Rookie, minor, major, and juniors players) will receavie a belted pant. along with 1 adjustable belt. T-ball players will get 1 pair of pull up draw string pants.

These pants are bought based on waist not length. All greay pants (white and black are not allowed) can be exchanged at Sportco. As long as tags are attached and pants have not been worn. Along with 1 offcial Little league baseball patch. patch must be sewn on to left shoulder prior to opening day. Patch must stay on all year!

Players all must be in there complete uniform on opening day.

This year the league wantted to try something new after getting feed back that the belted pants would not cut it for any level above T-ball. So when trying on the belted pants you are checking to make sure the fit is good in the waist. That with help of the belt the pants will stay up. There is nothing we can do about the length of the pants. However all parents are welcomed to hem the pants if they so desire to.

Our deadline for this was last week. But managers please follow up with your coaches, team parent and make sure payment info is in along with what the back of the jersey needs to read and what you want on the banner. Every year we get held up getting the uniforms to each team so they can be given to the parent. This is not a board problem. The problem is we don't get sponsor checks and info till a week or 2 after the deadline. If you wait you will not get your stuff on time! So make sure you have that info into the Coach Cord. so they can get that on to the uniform and banner people to make sure we get everything done on time and delivered to you prior to opening day!

Official list of all approved non composite bats for Little League baseball 2012

Easton BBCOR approved bat

Before the start of the baseball season last year, many a young little league baseball player wanted a new bat. The National Federation of High Schools was about to change the rules about which bats would be legal for prep baseball players, along with Little league Baseball. Thus a new word and a pain to many a parents wallet has been born. A BBCOR bat, the acronym for Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution, or the newest standard in baseball bat performance. BBCOR replaces the Ball Exit Speed Ratio — or BESR — aluminum bats that have helped prep athletes hit baseballs over the fence since 1999. The NCAA made the change to BBCOR bats last season, citing slower ball speed off the bat for safety concerns. The result was fewer runs and home runs, faster games and pitchers with more impressive earned-run averages. You have to work harder with the BBCOR bats to get used to them and get the hits you want. After the NCAA declared BBCOR bats safer, the National Federation of High Schools followed suit and required all high school baseball players to use the standard beginning Jan. 1. The longer a players uses the new standard  bats the better the bats performed, contrary to BESR bats, which tended to wear out with use. The thing that makes it tough is that we have these bats we can't use.

All bats, yes even ones used in batting practice, have to be BBCOR approved. If you use the BESR bats for batting practice and someone gets hurt in practice, then you're liable for it.  College players last season found BBCOR bats react more like wood with the speed in which the ball comes off the bat. "I think that the BBCOR bat is closer to wood (than the BESR bat) and I prefer wood,"  The change in the dynamic turned typically high-scoring games into faster, lower-scoring finishes. I will say, with the BBCOR bats, it will change the way we approach hitters and the way we approach games. Louisville Slugger representative Rick Miller said a certain amount of the trampoline effect continues to exist with BBCOR bats, making them perform overall better than wood bats. As for value, finding the best bat at the best price, performance isn't the most important feature. "Your variables there, what's the best performing bat I've got with the best swing weight to what these kids are used to years ago with the BESR legislation," Miller said. "Performance is still a very important part of these bats, but what's important now is the balance, the feel, the sound, those variables are more important to the athlete versus years ago. It was 'give me the one that performs the best.' Now those other variables have been elevated." "At the end of the fall season, I said to the players, 'did you like one better than another?' and the answer was 'no,'" Pishkur said. "They all act the same, and that's hard because this is where you like to buy bats now and start using them in the winter. I want to know what is the bat to buy. Even the college guys I talked to don't know. Every year, with the old (BESR) bats, someone could tell you, THIS is the new bat to buy, this kind has this that works, but nobody can add anything to help us out."

Bottom line when you make that trip to your local sporting goods store to pick up a new bat for little league, make sure you are getting one that is approved for play in 2012! BBCOR is your new friend. Also for our older player,s the ones who will be leaving us and going on to play with High Scool teams these are the bats you will be using on that level. Might as well get used to them now. This applies to onlyComposite bats!   You can click on the hyper linc above to go to the offcial site or at the bottom of this post. Please see the other post about non compostie bats for more info.

Licensed non-wood / Non-composite bats for Little league baseball

Miken psycho hybrid bat

This list is a supplement to the composite bats list in the above post on My Site News. Many of the top manufacturers are now producing great bats that are not made from composite materials. These bats do not have to meet the new BBCOR standard. This list is not all the bats that can be used, these are just the ones that are liscensed by Little League Baseball and thus approved by them and can come with the official Little League Baseball stamp on the bat.

These bats are typically made from Alloy. They may have composite handles, but the barrel is made in such a manner that the BBCOR standard does not need to apply to these bats.

There is no right or wrong when it comes to choosing between composite and non-compostie material bats. Bottom line, it is a personal preference as to what you are most comfortable with and what feels and works best for each individual.

Access the mobile list for these bats here: www.littleleague.org/batlist-mobile/index.html

Sonic Communitty First cards from PVLL/ Sunrise Mountain

Another new great benefit this year that has been brought to the Paradise Valley/ Sunrise Mountain little league family is the Sonic Community first card! Those who have already signed up players have been given some Sonic Community first cards. These were donated to the league and the board decided to give the limited supply we have of them to parents who sign up their kids while supplies last. In part to help offset the price increase this year. What they are: The Sonic Community First Value Card is a great way to promote your local Sonic Drive-in as well as raise money for a local organization in the community. Each card has a minimum value of $17. Individuals can sell the cards for $5 each and keep 100% of the profit for their organization.

Thanks again to Sonic for partnering with PVLL/Sunrise Mountain. Parents are encouraged to keep these and use them or sell them and keep the money. Look forward to more great additions to the league as we work hard to develop and maintain partnerships with local business in their support of our great league!
