Paper City Soccer: Welcome

Welcome to the Holyoke Paper City Knights Soccer Club. Founded in 2002, the Club is committed to fielding competitive soccer teams for boys and girls from Holyoke, Massachusetts and surrounding communities. The Club's teams compete in the Pioneer Valley Junior Soccer League (PVJSL). The Club has teams for players 9 thru 16 years of age.

The goal of the club is to allow our young players to compete in a league with a more competitive environment and more experienced coaching.  The Club is specifically focused on players that are interested in competing at the high school level. Players will be playing with and against future high school varsity team members.  Teams travel to local towns such as Chicopee, W. Spfld, Northampton, South Hadley and throughout the Pioneer Valley. There are three divisions of play within each age bracket depending on team’s ability and record. Although the club is relatively new, several of our teams have enjoyed winning seasons, two of our teams have won their divisions, and our Girls U12 team just won the Spring 2008 Championship series.

Paper City Knights Girls U12 Team Clinches Championship Series

Today, the Paper City Knights Girls U12 Soccer Team capped an incredible spring season by winning the championship playoff 3-1 against the Amherst Club. Amherst was the only team that beat the Paper City Girls during the regular season, so there was a lot on the line when both teams jogged onto the Pitch. Both teams started brilliantly, with the ball spending equal time on both sides of mid-field. In the 21st minute the first goal was scored by Taylor Choquette on a cross from Chelsea  - a brilliant shot that caught the far upper corner. After the first half the Girls were leading with a score of 1 - nil. As the Paper City Girls came onto the pitch for the second half, with the whole season on the line, you could feel the electicity in the air.

At the 4th minute into the second half, Taylor Choquette took a hard run up the right side of the pitch, made two incredible moves at the 18, and with a quick look at the goal, fired in the second goal of the game. At this point the team could feel that victory was at hand. At the 9th minute, the Knights made another great run up field, starting with a crisp pass from Carly to Sasha, and then a through pass up to the team's center striker, Brenna. Brenna worked her way around two defenders, tapped off toTaylor, and Choquette blasted another goal into the net, using the near post as her target, and making it a Hat Trick! With the game at 3 - nil the team settled into a defensive posture, letting in one goal from Amherst in the 22nd minute.

Alex played strong in goal, recording 12 saves, including 3 hard shots on net.

Paper City U12 Girls Win Semi Final Bid Against Strikers

In today's championship series semi-final, division winning Paper City Knights U12 Girls beat the number 4 seed St. Catherine Strikers with a final score of 3-0. The game, played in Wilbraham, was tied 0-0 after the first half, but with a powerful mid-field effort by Carly Costello and a first score by team captain Fogerty, the Knights took a 1 - nil lead and never looked back - Squirt did an incredible job in goal, saving five shots on net, and when the team left the pitch, the final score was 3-0.

After the game, Coach Fogerty told the assembled crowd that the players fought valiantly, played all 50 minutes hard, and with incredible determination on a hot and humid day, took home the victory.

With this win, the Girls will meet the number 2 seed Amherst Club in the finals at 11:30 in Wilbraham. The Knights only loss was to Amherst, so they are looking to settle the score.
