PVLL: Presidents Page
|
I didnt realize back in 2004 when I cautiously agreed to be the manager of my sons tee ball team that I was opening the door to what has become the center piece of my familys lifestyle here in Palos Verdes. Now 8 years later with my youngest son still playing in the league and my oldest very committed to the game at the next level, I have an amazing appreciation for how special PVLL is to its families and the kids that grow up in and around this league. The parents and players of PVLL are like the uncles, aunts, sisters, bothers and cousins of a huge extended family that have helped to raise my kids and for that I will always be grateful. Knowing that so many other families have experienced a similar phenomenon makes me realize the importance of continuing the fine work of the many volunteers that have come before me and made PVLL the incredible place that it is. I want to thank the parent volunteers, literally hundreds of them from board members to managers, coaches, league and team volunteers that make the operation of PVLL possible. I am continually impressed by the commitment and energy of the parents in this league who care enough to donate their time, creativity and resourcefulness to PVLL. I especially want to thank the outgoing President Jeff Axtell and his wife Ingrid for 3 terrific years of leadership that left our league stronger and more vital than ever. Also some notable guys who have played a big part in my life and that of my boys include Gib Cooper, Jack Hollis and Greg Miller, all former coaches and league volunteers who recently graduated with their youngest sons. Thank you all for so many years of dedicated service to the league. My job is to serve the kids and families of PVLL and I will work to make sure that everyone has access the wonderful experience that my family and I have had here. I welcome suggestions and expressions of concern at any time. Please consider me ready to listen to anything that improves the experience for the kids of our league. I want to express my strong support for the principles espoused by the positive coaching alliance, specifically the concept of double goal coaching where we strive to both win and teach our kids important life lessons. PVLL creates the opportunity for all adults from coaches to volunteers and spectators to be role models to our kids. I take that opportunity seriously and encourage all other adults involved with the league to do the same. In doing so, we create a very special culture to build lifelong memories and friendships while helping our kids to grow up a little bit in a safe and positive environment. See you on the field, Michael Thomas President PVLL |
