Varsity and Junior Varsity Coaches and Staff:
Varsity Head Coach Bert Esposito
Bert Esposito is entering his third season as the Head Football Coach of the Paloma Valley Wildcats. Brought in two years ago to reestablish the proud Wildcat football tradition, Coach Esposito has been able to accomplish that goal during the past two years.
In his first season, Esposito lead a dedicated 2004 Varsity team to it's first victories in two years. The last season, in his second year at the helm, Coach Esposito guided the underdog Wildcats to the Sunbelt League Championship and berth in the CIF SS Division V Playoffs.
Coach Esposito has 22 years experience coaching at the High School level, including 15 years as a successful varsity head coach. His teams have now made ten CIF Playoff appearances, including six trips to the Quarterfinals and three to the Semi-Finals. Esposito also earned a CIF Division X Championship in 1991 while at Southern Cal Christian.
As a member of the Paloma Valley High School educational staff, Coach Esposito teaches weightlifting and football. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology from California Baptist University and earned a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University.
Bert has been married to Kelli Esposito for 12 years and the couple are proud parents of two daughters, Rachel age seven and five year old Melissa.
JV Head Coach Scott Moore - Varsity WR and Special Teams Coach
Coach Moore enters his second season with the Wildcats and will take on the roll of the JV Head Coach as well as coaching the varsity wide receivers and special teams. He has eleven years of high school coaching experience, including stints as a JV and Freshman head coach. Coach Moore attended Biola University. He has been married to Vicky for ten years, and the couple have two children, six year old Mandy and four year old Josh.
Asst. Coach Testa - Offensive & Defensive Lines Coordinator
A walk on coach for over 30 years, Bob Testa begins his third season as the OL and DL Coordinator for the Wildcats. He has coached at both college and high school levels, including Riverside Community College, North HS, Arlington HS, Ramona HS, Rancho Verde HS, Bloomington HS, La Sierra HS and West Valley HS. Testa has been married for 27 years to Jennifer and has two sons, Rob and Rich.
Asst. Coach Gene Ramsey - Defensive Backs Coach
This will be Coach Ramsey's third year as a varsity defensive backs coach and the JV Speed Coordinator nd Conditioning coach. Ramsey played for Perris High School from 1994-97 and, as the 3rd rancked wide receiver in the state of California, earned a full football scholarship to Idaho State University. Coach Ramsey is single and enjoys swimming and chess.
Asst. Coach Jake Paino - Linebackers Coach
This is Coach Jake Paino's third season coaching football, his first as the linebackers coach for the Wildcats. It is also his third year teaching math at Paloma Valley High School. He played defensive end and offensive guard at Temecula Valley High School. Paino graduated from the University of Santa Barbara. Coach Paino is 26 years old and married with two sons; a two year old and a three month old.
Asst. Coach Lamar Sykes - Defensive Ends Coach
The 2006 season is the first for Lamar Sykes as a Paloma Valley football coach. He will serve as a defensive line coach for the Wildcats. Sykes attended Riverside Poly High School from 1997-2001. After attending RCC for two years, Sykes transferred to Butler University where he majored in Psychology. He graduated from Butler in 2005.
Asst. Coach Marcus Johnson - Defensive Tackles Coach
This is Marcus Johnson's first year as a Wildcat Coach and teacher at Paloma Valley. Coach Johnson played high school football in North County San Diego at Vista HS, and later was part of the University of Nebraska's 1995 and 1997 National Championship teams. He graduated in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science in Education. Coach Johnson has been married to wife Shannon for three years and the couple have a 5 month old daughter named Morgan.
