Committee Meetings
If you can not be present at a committee meeting, please email the Cubmaster any awards or advancements to be presented at the pack meeting. Please submit the appropriate report found under the Advancement handout at least one week prior to the pack meeting. Advancement forms may be downloaded at: http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/CubScouts/CubScoutingForms/forms.aspx Handout: Advancement Reports Training All leaders must complete Youth Protection Training every 3 years. This can be done at a training session or on-line using your BSA membership number on your membership card. All leaders should also Complete Fast Start Training and Basic Leader Training. Basic Leader Training consists of New Leader Essentials (for all leaders) as well as Cub Scout Leader Specific Training (specific to rank). Each year leaders should take Cub Scout Leader Specific Training for their new rank. Roundtable Meetings Old Colony Council offers monthly Roundtable meetings. They provide training and offer a discussion forum. They are a good way to network with other leaders in your position. They are held the first Wednesday of every month from September to June at the Brockton High School from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Cubscouts are in the Yellow Cafeteria. Guide to Safe Scouting The purpose of the Guide to Safe Scouting is to prepare adult leaders to conduct scouting activities in a safe and prudent manner. The policies and guidelines have been established because of the real need to protect members from known hazards that have been identified through eighty-plus years of experience. Limitations on certain activities should not be viewed as stumbling blocks; rather, policies and guidelines are best described as steppingstones toward safe and enjoyable adventures. Leaders should be aware of state or local government regulations that supersede BSA policies and guidelines. Please review the on-line version of this guide when planning outings with your den. Tour Permits Required Old Colony Council requires tour permits for events outside of our council boundaries or when an overnight event is planned that is not through the council.
