Welcome to Pack 588 - Fontana, Ca.

(Friends of Sycamore Hills Elementary.)

Who are we?   Pack 588 is a Cub Scout pack from Fontana, California.   We are

                        a group of boys (from 1st grade to 5th grade) who meet every

                       Tuesday at Sycamore Hills Elementary School when school is in

                       session.   We are a member of the Boy Scouts of America. 

What do you do?  With our pack and our families we have lots of fun and take

                             part in lots of different fun and interesting activities and we

                             even get to earn rewards for doing them.   Some of most loved

                             activities include camping, and our pinewood derby.  We also

                             get to take part in parades and other community activites as

                             well as many sports, crafts and visits.

I would like to thank all who participated in the Holiday Pack Fundraiser at Bass Pro Shop.

A special thanks to Brian Blynn for setting up the Holiday Fundraiser and setting up the Tours for Home Depot and Bass Pro Shop in December.

Pack update as of Thursday Dec 11^th 2009:

  ·         Rain is in the forecasted for this Sat Dec 12th.  In the best interest of the Kids I decided to  cancel the parade.  If you have any questions or concerns I can be reached at 909-427-1981.

 ·         Pinewood Derby is schedule for Sat Jan 30th @ 9:00am at Cathy Binks Elementary.  It's $5 for the Pinewood Derby Car if haven't purchased your car.  If you have any questions please contact Amber Duran amblin29@yahoo.com  

·         Pack Fundraiser is scheduled for Sat Dec 19th from 3:00pm to 9:00pm @ Bass Pro Shop.  We will be doing gift wrapping for donations.  All proceed will go to the Pack.  We need some volunteers.  Please contact Malia Coleman  714-468-4531 or email her at LaShownc@aim.com

Once a month at our Pack Meeting will we be collecting cans for our Pack Recycling Program.  Make sure to bring your recycliables.  Please see a committee member for instructions.

To all Parents,

 We will be handing out the tickets for the Ontario Reign Ice Hockey Night.  All Cub Scouts must wear their Class A Uniforms to the game to receive their a Patch.  The Patches will be handed out when you enter the arena.  If you have any questions please give me a call at 909-427-1981.

On Saturday October 24^th from 10:00am to 4:00pm and Sun October 25^th from 12:00pm to 4:00pmActivities include:

We would like to do a Bow and Arrow Project for the kids.  We are having a sign-up sheet to have the parent’s approval for this project.  Please make sure to sign-up with your son’s name and place a yes or no on the sheet.   If you do not wish to have your son participate in this project we will have them work on a different activity at that time.

We are planning on going to the Ontario Region Hockey Night and the money is due by Tues Oct 13th.  For those who attend the game, the Ontario Region will be giving a patch for this special Cub Scout Night.  The cost is $12 per person.  Please see Medyan or Patty. We will be going to Oak Glen Village to visit the petting zoo on Sat Oct 10^th.  We will be meeting at the petting zoo at 12:00pm.  Please make sure to fill out your permission slip and turn them in to Medyan or Patty.  The petting zoo is $3 person.  All of the Cub Scouts will be paid by the pack.   If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call at 909-427-1981.

The pack meetings will be held at the beginning of the month since the kids will be out of school / holidays.  It will also give us the opportunity to introduce the theme of the month.

Tues October 6th will be our next pack meeting.  Garrett will be providing the snacks for all Dens.  If you have any questions please feel free to give Garrett a call at 909-427-1981.

To All Bear Scouts,

Make sure to bring 2 photos of what outings you've done in Cub Scouts .  If you don't have any photos, You may bring a photo of what you like about cub scouts or write about it.  We will be creating a Pack Scrapbook and the other photo is for yourself to take home.  If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call at 909-472-1981.

** Note to all cub scouts** Please make sure to hand in your library worksheet to your Den Leader if you have not done so already, We want to make sure that everyone gets signed off in their handbooks to show what you've acheived.

I would like to send a Big Thank you Randy Sipes for arranging the Pack to go Roller Skating at Fiesta Village on Sat Aug 29th. 

Also I would like to Thank Alley at The Lewis Library for giving us a Tour on Tues Sept 1st.  I will have a card available for everyone to sign at our next Den Meeting.

We will not be having a Den Meeting at Sycamore Hills Elementary (Tues Sept 1st).  Instead we will be meeting at the Lewis Library for a tour, which will take about 45mins.  After the tour ends will be using the computers to logon the internet at the library to do research to accomplish acheivement for all the scouts books.  You might want to get there early to sign up for a library card.  You will need a library card to logon to the internet.

Thank you to all of those who came out to support our booth at the City of Fontana Variety night yesterday.   A lot of fun was had by all and we hope that we have encouraged a few new boys to come and join us and see what cub scouting is all about.   We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our cub scout family.
