(Friends of Sycamore Hills Elementary.)

Who are we?   Pack 588 is a Cub Scout pack from Fontana, California.   We are

                        a group of boys (from 1st grade to 5th grade) who meet every

                       Tuesday at Sycamore Hills Elementary School when school is in

                       session.   We are a member of the Boy Scouts of America. 

What do you do?  With our pack and our families we have lots of fun and take

                             part in lots of different fun and interesting activities and we

                             even get to earn rewards for doing them.   Some of most loved

                             activities include camping, and our pinewood derby.  We also

                             get to take part in parades and other community activites as

                             well as many sports, crafts and visits.

Bass Pro Shop is having workshops for everyone where the boys and girls can earn pins.  The events starts on Start June 4th to Jul 10th.  The pins that the kids earn is limited time only

We will be going to Rocket Camp and here is the information.  Please bring your payment at our Den Meeting on Tues Feb 22^nd or Tues March 1^st (March first is the last day to turn in your payment the $27 price.  More information will be announced in our up and coming Den Meetings.  We will have a signup sheet available to see who will be attending. 

2011 Cub Scout Family Spring Rocket Encampment

Open to all Cub Scouts and their Families  

When: April 1-3

Where: Firestone Scout Reservation

Cost: $27 per person with a Rocket / $20 per person without a Rocket (Children 4 and younger are free: no Cub Scout Activities or patch is provided) *Late fees apply if paid after March 11th, 2011 ($37.00 with a Rocket / $30 without a Rocket) per person.

Weekend events kick-off at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and will last until Sunday morning around 9:30 a.m.

The Aug events will kick off on Wed Aug 4th at Sycamore Hills Park with the City of Fontana from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  We will be having a booth for recruiting and will need everyone's help.  We will be having a Gold Fish Game with Plastic Bottles.  The theme is go green.

 On Tues Aug 31st @ 7:00pm, we will be going to the Quakes Game.  If everyone brings 10 cans or CRV bottles the tickets are free at the ticket booth. 

We will also be starting our new pack year on Tues Aug 10th @ 7:00pm at Sycamore Hills Elementary in the Multi-Purpose Room.

Hello Pack 588 !!!

Here is the information for Sunday, July 4th for the Red, White & Cruise event.

We are to park in regular public parking ( PARKING IS FREE). I need everyone to meet me at GATE 10 at 5:15pm. From there I will need the parade wavier sign. Parents will need to march in the parade that was the deal made to get the tickets. 

I need for the boys to be dressed in CLASS A uniform. After the parade they will need to be in CLASS B. Garrett has advised me that we will be meeting for the Firework show. We will decide after the parade time and place where we will meet. 

GATES OPEN AT 2:00 pm you can go have fun until we need to meet at 5:15pm. I have your tickets if you would like to get them before Sunday you can call me.  

FYI! I work on Friday & Saturday at Starbucks on Citrus and Foothill...I'm off at 2:30pm on Friday & off at 5:00pm Saturday.  Please call or text message me if you will be coming so I make sure to have your tickets with me.  I will only be able to give you the tickets once im off work.

During the Summer we are doing only one Den Meeting a month due to families on vacation and the summer heat.  The kids are back in school in late July.  I'm looking to have a Den Meeting this month but looking to have our meetings indoors due to the summer heat.  I will let everyone know when our next meeting will take place. 

Currently the boys are working on earning their summertime activity award where each Den must have a minium of 50% and participate in one activity in each month.  June, July and Aug to earn the award.

This is a reminder to let everyone know that tomorrow is the last day to sign up and turn in your payment for Rocket Camp at the discounted rate.  After March 1st the cost will be $35 per person with Rocket and $25 without.  All the Cub Scouts are paid for by the Pack.  For all Parents, Siblings or Guardians will be $18 per person without the Rocket or $25 per person with the Rocket.  The Rocket Camp will be from Friday March 19 through Sunday March 22.  If you have any questions give me a call at 949-678-0188

To all,

 1) We will be having a Pinewood Derby Workshop for those who are still working on their cars next Tues Jan 19th The race is a week away from our next den meeting (Sat Jan 30th @ Kathy Binks Elementary at 9:00am).  We will also need some volunteers to help out cutting the wood.  We will need some jigsaws, sanders or sand paper, flood lights and extension cords.  If you haven't purchased your Pinewood Derby Car, The Pinewood Derby Cars are available for $5 (See Claire). 

2) Orange Empire Railroad Museum Sat Jan 23rd at 10am.  We will be meeting at the Train Station. 

3) Blue and Gold (BSA Annual Birthday) will be in February location, time and date to be determined. Announcements to follow. 

4) We have a sign up to go to Rocket Camp.  We have signup sheet started.  Everyone will need to fill out a permission slip and emergency form.  This is a weekend event with fun and excitement.  The dates are March 19-21 or March 26-28. The kids will be rockets and launch them and much more.  For more information please contact Brian at 951-543-6312 or myself 909-427-1981.

We are planning on going to the Ontario Region Hockey Night and the money is due by Tues Oct 13th.  For those who attend the game, the Ontario Region will be giving a patch for this special Cub Scout Night.  The cost is $12 per person.  Please see Medyan or Patty.
