Why is it important for leaders to be trained?

All Scout Leaders need training to help them understand the aims and purposes of the Scouoting Program, to improve their ability to work with boys and other leaders. To learn the Scouting Skills that they will need in order to help their boys grow into successful young men. These skills will also help the new Leader plan and carry out a fun filled adventurous program for the boys in that unit.

What do I have to do to become a Trained Cub Scout Leader?

As a new Cub Scout Leader, be it a Den Leader or the Cubmaster or any postition in between, you will need to take a few courses that will help you understand the basics of the Cub Scout Program. Your training will begin with Cub Scout Leader Fast Start. The Fast Start training is now available online, Just follow the link listed above. Fast Start is also a VHS that can be acquired by contacting your District Training Committee or your District Executive.

After Fast Start you will then need to take New Leader Essentials; this course is designed to give you an overview of Scouting in general as well as the responsibilities required of Adult Leaders in Scouting.
