Concession Stand Vandalism at the Pickerington Youth Complex
PYAA wants to make you aware of what’s been happening in your own community.
Someone has been repeatedly vandalizing the PYAA and PASA concession stand
buildings located at the Hill Road facility. Since November, this group has
broken into these buildings ten times, causing estimated damages of more than
$5000.
Here is a just a partial list of what’s happened during these break-ins: food
preparation equipment has been broken, pop machines have been vandalized, the
building structures have been damaged, food ingredients and cleaning agents have
been maliciously used to destroy the interiors, and these same people have
ruined sport property around the fields.
How This Affects Us All
The Pickerington Police Department has increased its patrols of the athletic
fields and is diverting some of its attention to our problem. This takes their
valuable time away from other safety measures that help to maintain our
security. The actions of these few people contribute to a decline in the
quality of life in our community and lead to an increased sense of fear and
frustration about what’s happening in our surroundings. Ultimately, there is a
cost involved. Additional volunteer hours will be needed to clean and repair
the damaged areas. Additional costs will be incurred to fix and replace spoiled
property. It may cause the affected sports or the organizational boards to
consider increasing fees to overcome this unexpected financial burden and
protect the property in a more aggressive manner.
How You Can Help
We are writing to ask you for your support. As a community we can work together
to fight such crime and keep our buildings safe for our children.
If you notice or hear of any suspicious activity related to the PYAA/PASA
fields, please contact the City of Pickerington Police at 614-575-6911. They
will respond immediately to your call.
