Panthers Wrap Up Season In Division Finals

The Bantam's opened the CBHL playoffs with a division semifinal game versus Greater Hampton. Pdub jumped out to a 3-0 second period lead and seemed to have the game under control. However, after a strategic timeout out by the Whalers, they responded with three goals in rapid fashion to tie it. The game went back n forth the rest of the way with PW taking the lead only to have GH tie it up. It was 6-6 after regulation. In overtime, Eric 'Game Over' Moon scored with two minutes left for the dramatic win.

The second seeded Panthers were the only higher seed to win a semi final game as #4 beat #1 in both divisions and #3 downed #2 in the Blue division. This meant a division final contest vs Chevy Chase for a spot in the Bantam championship game later Sunday morning.

A tight opening sixteen minutes led to a scoreless first period. Chevy jumped on board two minutes in for a 1-0 lead that remained until the end of the second period.  The Panthers tied it up to start off the third only to see CC respond with a shorty two minutes later to regain the lead. PW came back strong to tie it up with their second PP goal of the game to make it 2-2 with six minutes remaining. CC scored a beautiful goal off an offensive zone face off to take a 3-2 lead with only one minute left. They added an empty net goal soon thereafter and the Panthers tallied at the buzzer for the 4-3 final. Chevy Chase would continue their Cinderella run and claim the Bantam UA championship

It was a great season for the boys, none of whom had played at the Bantam UA level before. A second place finish in the division, twenty-four (24) wins overall, exciting overtime victories in semifinal action two weeks apart, and rapid player development resulted in a wonderful hockey experience!

Road Warriors Take Silver Medal in Florida

The Panthers Bantam UA squad played in Coral Springs Florida in the Jr Panthers President Day weekend tournament. After the snowstorm canceled numerous flights, a majority of the Pdub families hit the road and drove 16+ hours to make in time for our opening game. The boys swept their first two games before falling to a strong Jr Everblades team. Our fourth place finish meant a rematch with top seeded Everblades in the semi finals. It was 0-0 after regulation before Justin "Game Over" Hamp scored in overtime for the dramatic win. After driving 1000 miles, we met our CBHL rivals Reston in the tournament championship. A 2-2 game meant another overtime, this with no goals. The Raiders scored the lone goal on their final shootout attempt to take home the big trophy. The Panthers had a great weekend and look forward to wrapping their season up the first weekend in March in the CBHL playoffs
