Rules and Regulations
Rules and Regulations
1. FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT RULE: The game is not life or death. Have Fun. Don't Sweat the small stuff and make life a little better for your fellow ball players!
2. Umpiring: The team manager or assistant is the only person on a team allowed to discuss rule interpretations with the umpire. The umpire is the final authority and the ruling will be made before the next pitch is thrown.
3. Players: Eleven defensive players will constitute a team. A team must have a minimum of nine players to start of continue a game or the game will be forteited. All team members present will bat in the batting order whether they are playing a defensive position or not.
4. Double Bag: A double bag shall be used at first base. The runner shall use the outside bag (normally orange in colour) and the infielder uses the inside bag whenever a force play is being mad on the runner. The batter/baserunner is automatically declared OUT when there is a force play being made at first base and the runner touches only the inside bag (white in colour).
5. Scoring Line: All plays at home are force plays! The defsive player needs only to catch and be in possession of the the ball while in contact with the normal home plate before the runner crosses the line to record an out on the runner. A runner who touches the "regular home plate" is automatically OUT. No appeal is necessary.
6: Commitment Line: A chalk line shall be drawn across the third base foul line twenty feet from the normal home plate. When a runner crosses this commitment line, they must continue onto the alternate home plate line or be recorded as an out if they attempt to return back across the commitment line toward third base.
7. Force out at every base. Runners are now able to run through the 2nd and 3rd base in a straight line similar to 1st base. The fielder must be in contact with the base for the out. There is no commital line in advance of the 2nd and 3rd base and the runner may return to the previous base if needed. However should a runner making a turn towards the next base and at the umpires discretion showed intent to advance to the next base, he may be tagged out while off the base similar to the rules of play at 1st base.
8. All batters must use a wooden bat.
9. In the event that a player is walked on 4 balls during their at bat, they will remain up and the last out of the team at bat will proceed to 1st base as the courtesy runner. All base runners will advance only if forced. The batter's count will be cleared and he will start again.
