PEARL RIVER LITTLE LEAGUE: News: 2011 JUNIOR GIRLS STATE CHAMPS HONORED

The 2011 Pearl River LL Junior Girls team, winners of the District 18, Section 4 and New York State championships, unveilled their state championship banner in a small ceremony at McCarthy Field on Sunday afternoon, April 1, 2012. The girls received commemorative jackets and plaques, and the banner was installed on the outfield fence.

Due to various other commitments, the team members would not have been available for the PRLL Opening Day ceremonies, currently scheduled for April 14, 2012.  So the parents, coaches and PRLL officials including President Joanie Bourke gathered at the field on Sunday to recognize the team's achievements.  It was this group's second State title, the first coming two years ago in the Little League division (see archive story here).    The Junior Girls, after winning the NYS title, excelled in the 2011 Eastern Regionals, finishing second (by a slim margin) in the ten-team field (see story).
