The news of the loss of Chance Cosgrove on August 28, 2009 has left the entire Pearl River community in mourning and searching for a way to express its emotions and support for the family.   

        Here is a letter from the Cosgrove family. Please consider making a donation to the Memorial Fund:

Dearest Friends,

We would like to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts,
prayers, love and support as we try to cope with the loss of our son,
Chance.  Our pain was eased by the continuous stream of communication
from you in the form of emails, text messages, voice mails, and calls
with offers of assistance and support.  We have been especially touched
by the outpouring of love from those of you whom we have never met.  The
kindness of strangers embodies the spirit of Chance and who he was as a
person. 

To honor his memory we are planning a Candlelight Vigil at Veterans Park
in Orangeburg, NY on September, 12th at approximately 8 PM.  Prior to
the candle lighting, you are invited to join us for a barbecue at the

Many of you have so graciously offered your help and donations.  Over
the last two years, our son Chance took great pride in his raising
monies for children with cancer, even shaving his own head to show his
solidarity with these children in need.  Our good friends, the Goldman
Family, maintain a sizeable philanthropic charitable entity.   They have
quickly helped us set up The Chance Cosgrove Memorial Fund. 

Over time we look forward to using the Chance Cosgrove Memorial Fund to help
support causes that Chance himself would have passionately championed.
Hopefully in this way, Chance's memory can shine on brightly for many
years to come.
