BASEBALL MAJOR (12s) TEAM POSTS 3 WINS IN D-18 TOURNAMENT

BASEBALL MAJOR (12s) TEAM POSTS 3 WINS IN D-18 TOURNAMENT:

July 13, 2009:  The Pearl River 11/12 baseball team went down fighting to a hard-hitting West Nyack team, 9-4, Monday night, in an elimination game.   The team had a good run in the D-18 Tournament.  The players and coaching staff all did a great job in preparing for the games and playing hard regardless of the score.

July 12, 2009:  Pearl River continued their comeback with an efficient 6-2 win over Nanuet.  Danny Campbell starred on the mound and at the plate.  Danny went 2 for three at the plate with three RBI's, and pitched 5 2/3 superlative innings for the win.  Chris Prigge did a great job behind the plate with two put outs on hard slides, and he threw another runner our attempting to steal.  In their next game, the team will be home to play West Nyack on Monday, July 13, at 7pm.  West Nyack has posted wins over Nyack-VC (5-3) and Suffern (6-3) and lost to South Orangetown (13-1).

July 10, 2009:  Pearl River 5- East Ramapo 3.   The PRLL Boys 12 year-old team came from behind again to defeat East Ramapo with 4 runs in the top of the 6th, when Brian Tarsnane tied the game with  a double (he homered earlier in the game) and Kevin Murphy put the game away with a two run single.   Mike Murphy pitched well (4 2/3 innings) holding East Ramapo to only three runs in the third.  Chris Prigge got the win with 1 1/3 innings in relief.  The PR "cardiac kids" will play at home, again, this Sunday (July 12) against Nanuet.  Game time is at 7:00 PM.

July 8, 2009:  Pearl River ran into a buzzsaw from Haverstraw, losing, 9-0, to a team of talented and large 12 year-olds.

July 6, 2009: The Pearl River 12's (baseball) launched their 2009 tournament season with a come-from-behind victory over Stony Point, in 7 innings. Pearl River 6 - Stony Point 2.  Pearl River fell behind in the 2nd inning on back to back Stony Point HR's.  But the Pearl River 12's never gave up and tied it in the 4th on a two run homer by Chris Seiss. The score remained knotted at 2 until the 12's put 4 on the board in the top of the 7th with our own back to back HR's by Nick Capote & J.C. Sabino.  Danny Campbell pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings for the win, with Michael Murphy getting the last two batters for the save.  An exciting game to be a part of, and it was a pleasure to see the girls all-star softball teams and younger boys all-star teams staying around after practice to support the 12's with our own version of the "River Rage".
