July 27, 2009:   The District 18 championship round between Pearl River and South Orangetown was interrupted in the third inning last night by lightning, with the score RP, 4 - SO, 3. The game continued tonight (Monday) at 7pm at the SOLL complex.  SOLL scored 2 runs quickly to take a 5-4 lead, but PR took the lead back, 6-5, only to have SO go up, 7-6 after 5 innings.  Pearl River tied it in the top of the sixth, then used good defense to get two outs after SO put on 2 baserunners in the bottom 6th.  On the verge of extra innings, however, South Orangetown's John Daly shocked the crowd with a log homerun over the left field fence to win the game, 9-7.  Connor Buckout went 3 for 3 with an RBI for Pearl River.  Since Pearl River came out of the winner's bracket, the two teams will play one game for the title tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7 pm at the SOLL field.

Dolan struck out the first two batters, one a key foul tip held by catcher Scrima. The final out was recorded on a 3-2 pitch when a fly ball to leftfield was caught by DeRubertis to end the game and capture the District 18 crown.

August 11, 2009:   The Pearl River 10 year-olds' magical ride finally came to an end against a powerhouse team from Rotterdam, featuring a 10 year-old who slugged two homeruns the other day and two more today.   The loss does not diminish the pride and toughness of the Pearl River team, which will come home to a proud and supportive community.  In reaching the final four in N.Y. State, this team came further than any baseball team in PRLL history, and had fun doing it.  All the players, coaches and parents deserve sincere congratulations.
