MAJOR BOYS PLAYS WELL IN D-18 TOURNAMENT

Wed., July 2, 2008:  The Pearl River 12's jumped out to an early 7 - 0 lead thru the 1st 4 innings of a District 18 tournament game against Nanuet.  Patrick Gannon started things off with a booming double to right followed by one of Kevin Degnan's 4 hits and 4 RBI's on the night.  John Doherty pitched well, getting into the fourth inning before giving up any runs.  Michael Gerace (diving catch in right field) and Connor Ocasal (diving stop at 2nd base) made outstanding defensive plays to keep Nanuet from scoring more runs. The final score was 13-5.
Sunday, July 6, 2008:
The Pearl River 12's defeated a tough Congers All Star team tonight 6 - 1 behind a 9 strikeout, complete-game performance by Jack Willock.  Kevin Consodine got things started in the bottom of the first with a 2 run homer to deep left center field.  Connor Ocasal went 3 for 3 with a solo homer in the 3rd inning.  Chris Beers went 2 for 2 in the win for the 12's.
On Tuesday night, July 8, Stony Point, which had defeated West Nyack, 13-1, again had a strong game in stopping Pearl River, 11-0.
Pearl River then had to play the next night, Wed. July 9, in a re-match against Nanuet, which had won two straight games since their opening loss to PR.  The results, however, were the same,
this time by a 10-0 score.   John Doherty threw a 4 inning no hit shutout over the Nanuet All Star team. Connor Ocasal hit his 2nd home run of the Tournament leading the 12's to the win over Nanuet. Nice defensive play by Terence Hughes helped keep Nanuet out of the hit column.
In their first close game of the double-elimination tournament, Pearl River was edged by New City American, 6-5 on Friday 7/11 at Anderson field.  The team had a fine tournament, with three victories, and represented PRLL well, and we are proud of them.
