Stony Point, 11 - Pearl River, 0 (four innings):  Before the Kayser Tournament championship game began, the Stony Point players knew that they had a chance to do something special: sweep the West Nyack and Kayser tournaments for 9 year-olds. They came into the game focused, and left nothing to chance, immediately raining hits all over Bocket Field and jumping out to a 6-0 lead after a half-inning of play. Leadoff hitter Frank Nigro started the hit parade, followed in quick succession by Brain Bolander, John Greeley, Jeff Grossin, Austin Pennelli and Billy Rotella.  SP pitcher Nigro would not let Pearl River back into the game, allowing only one hit and striking out six. Even when the Pearl River batters hit the ball, the SP fielders were there.  Kyle Kondracki did his best to get PR going, singling in the first inning and being robbed of a hit on a good play by Nigro in the third.  PR's Matt McMorrow also lost a hit to a great fielding play by SP second baseman Rob McFadden.
Both these teams had a great tournament.  Trophies were given out after the game, with Diane Kayser awarding the tournament trophy to Stony Point manager John Greeley, and thanking all the players and parents for their participation in this year's tournament.
Pitching:  SP: Nigro (55); PR: James Kelly (61), Chris Downing (58).

Tuesday, July 24, 2007:

Pearl River, 3 - West Nyack, 1:  PR pitcher Michael Mahoney, with late relief help from Matt DiLorenzo, held the formidable West Nyack lineup to 3 hits in this tight contest.  Pearl River took the lead with 2 runs in the third inning.  Sean White led off with a single and scored on a big double from Kyle Kondracki, who was then erased on a sparkling double play by West Nyack shortstop Mike Civisca. Chris Downing the singled, stole second, and scored on a wild pitch. Jake Spreckman doubled and scored in the WN fourth inning to cut the lead to 2-1, but PR got an insurance run in the fifth on base hits from White and Kondracki (3 for 3 in the game).  Solid defense by PR kept WN off the board for most of the night. Spreckman, Mike Connelly and Allen Buckbinder had the West Nyack hits, and Sean Blinn pitched well enough to win most games.  White scored two of PR's runs. Lukas Politis and Perry Quaranti also had base hits for PR.
Pitching:   PR: Mahoney (75), McMorrow (6);  WN: Blinn (70).

Stony Point, 9 - Suffern, 2:   Suffern struck quickly in the first inning when their first two batters, Devon Pradhuman and Sean Meyer, singled and scored.  Stony Point's pitching then stiffened, as Brian Bolander, with relief help from Eric Sandusky, held Suffern in check the rest of the game. Also lending a hand was SP rightfielder Jeff Grosin, who made a terrific play on a drive off the bat of Suffern's Meyer to cut off a second inning Suffern rally.  SP, in the meantime, put up 4 runs in each of the third and fourth innings. Frank Nigro scored 3 runs for SP, while Bolander and Billy Rotella scored two each.
Pitching:   SP: Bolander (75), Sandusky (20);  Suffern: Luis Santibanez (76), Pradhuman (22), Jeff Alvarez (42).

Sunday, July 22, 2007:

Stony Point, 5 - New City, 2:  This was a well-played game by two good teams. SP starting pitcher Frank Nigro held a tough New City lineup in check for the three innings he pitched., giving up only singles to Kyle Carbone and Sean Culwell.  Stony Point, after being set down in order in the first inning by Carbone, broke through for two runs in the second on hits by Ben Muller, Daniel Wirchansky and Jeff Grossin.  They added 3 more runs in the third, with hits by Brian Bolander and John Greeley doing the damage, with an assist on a sac fly from Rob McFadden.  New City finally got on the board in the fourth, scoring twice on hits by Carbone, Brian Schnapper and Yanik Martin.  With two runners aboard, New City was still threatening, when SP reliever Eric Sanduski came in and put out the fire.  Sanduski then limited NC to one hit over the final two innings to pick up the save and seal the victory for SP.  New City's Justin Rosenberg also pitched well in relief.  Stony Point advanced to the semi-final round.
Pitching: SP: Nigro (44), Dylan Torpey (17), Sandusky (19).

Nanuet, 15 - Ramapo, 14 (7 innings):  This was a genuine barnburner.  Despite the score, there were not that many walks.  The hitters on both teams simply hit the ball all over the field.  For the Ramapo team, Dermot O'Brien had a big day, with 4 hits, including a double and a long homerun over the fence (Dermot kept the ball, and the team signed it).  He also scored four runs, and all this on his birthday!!  Leadoff hitter Dylan McCavitt had 2 hits and scored 2 runs.
