Major Girls Stars win District 18 title
The Major Girls 12 year-old All-Star team won their third straight game to capture the District 18 tournament Championship.

The PR 12's won the title by defeating New City, 5-0, on Sunday, July 8. Amanda Hartigan threw a shutout to seal the win.  The game was a pitching duel until the 5th inning, when Kristyn Neroda challenged the defense, stealing second and coming around to score on an overthrow. Third baseman Shannon McKiernan preserved the shutout with a great defensive play on a slow roller with the bags full in the fourth inning.
Pearl River now advances to the Section 2 tournament, starting Saturday, July 14.  Details to follow.
(Update notes:  In the first sectional game, PR defeated Highland, but the lost to a very strong Cornwall team by the score of 10-7.  The game was tied going into the 6th inning. Although their run is over, this team and its coaching staff - Ed Neroda and John McCarthy - represented PRLL in excellent fashion, and the league is proud of them).

Pearl River defeated New City Thursday night, July 5, by the score of 8-2 at New City's Strawtown Field, to advance to the Championship round in the winners bracket.  Kristyn Neroda threw a 2 hitter to assist the team.  The offense was led by Amanda Hartigan who had 3 hits, 2 RBIs and scored a run, Nicole Leote with 2 hits and scored a run, Kiera McMullan who scored 2 runs, Emily Aristizabal with an RBI and Victoria Pucci  who scored a run.  The defense was led by an outstanding play in right field by Brianna Harrington, Katherine McLaughlin at second base, Liz Prigge and Shannon McKiernan all helping to provide a solid defensive effort.

Pearl River will play on Sunday, July 8, and the team and location will be determined after Friday's game between the winner of the Stony Point-Haverstraw game playing New City.

The 12 Year Old All Star team won 13-3 against Nanuet on Monday, July 2.  Liz Prigge tossed a 3 hitter to help pace the team.  The offense was led by Nicole Leote and Shannon McKiernan who each had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, Amanda Hartigan who drove in 2 runs and Kristyn Neroda who added 2 hits.  The defense was led by Katherine McLaughlin, 3rd base and Emily Aristizabal, 1st base, Victoria Pucci, Kiera McMullan and Brianna Harrington making fine defensive plays to help the team.
