SENIOR BOYS:  Congratulations to the PR Senior League Reds who won the Rockland County Senior League Championship on Friday, June 29.  Kevin Ambrose struck out 12 batters while giving up only three hits in 6 and 2/3 innings to lead the Pearl River Reds to a 4 -1 victory over the West Nyack Pirates in Rockland County's District 18 Senior Division championship game.  Cole Coyle doubled, tripled and scored two runs for Pearl River.  Michael Davis had two hits, 2 RBI's and closed out the Pearl River victory.  Michael Weiner reached safely twice and scored once for Pearl River while Ryan Sheehan played strong defense for the Reds.

The Reds had defeated the Ramapo Cubs 10-9 in the opening playoff game, on a walk off hit in the bottom of the 7th by James O'Connor.  PR then defeated Nanuet, 2 games to 0 in the Conference 2 championship round.  PR used a six run 6th inning rally to win game 1, 8 to 6.  PR won game two, 7-3 in 9 innings, for the conference title and the right to play for the County championship.

The team have submitted the following highlights:

Monday, June 11:  Major Boys – The regular season champs, the Yankees, began their title quest with an impressive 3-0 victory over the tough Cubs.  Jake T. blasted a 3-run HR and threw four shutout innings to foil the Cubs.  Yanks reliever Austin O’T. completed the shutout.  The Yankees take on the winner of Tuesday’s Twin-Red Sox match on Friday, June 15.

Tuesday, June 19:  Major Boys --  The Yankees defeated the Red Sox, 8-5, to win the division championship and gain a berth in the Rockland County Tournament of Champions.  The Sox left the bags full in the last inning, but the rally fell short.  The Yanks drew a first-round bye in the T of C, and will play next Tuesday night, June 26, against the winner of East Ramapo and Nyack-Valley-Cottage.
