2012 Season - January 2012Newsletter

PHBA welcomes you in preparation for another baseball season. PHBA has welcomed new Board members for President, Vice President, Legion, Equipment Manager and Mite League and is actively working to make 2012 a great year. Again, PHBA appreciates the support from both the parents and the Penn Hills community.

HELP

We need your help! Someone has been stealing the aluminum bleachers and Picnic Tables from Milltown. They also have taken the benches from the dug-outs as well. We have filed a Police report. If anyone knows anything about this please contact any member on the board or contact the police directly. We now have to replace all those tables and bleachers at a cost to the Penn Hills Baseball Association, money that could be used elsewhere. Remember we do this for the kids playing baseball in Penn Hills. Any information would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.

PHBA would like to thank our out-going Board Members. Rick Brennan, who served as President for many years has stepped aside, and will be the Legion Director as well as help us in our transition, Bill Bullian served on the board for many years at different positions most recently as Vice President and will be stepping down. Tom Fulton also served on the board for many years and most recently as the Equipment Manager. Thank you to these guys for their many years of hard work for PHBA.

MITE AND FARM LEAGUE

Mite and Farm League age requirements have changed. Mite League (Coaches Pitch) will now be ages 5-8. Farm League (Kids Pitch) will be 8-10. Parents of 8 year olds who do not feel their child are ready for Farm League has the option of having them play another year in Mite League.

 Team Sponsorship provides great advertising for your business or organization. We had a great turnout of local businesses in 2011. Your business name can appear on team jerseys or on a two-color sign that will be displayed on the outfield fences at Milltown or Friendship Parks.

PHBA is continuing to provide Online Registrations powered by Active in 2012. There is no additional charge for Online Registration. It is easy to use and convenient. Online Registrations will be taken from January 5th through March 31st. A $5.00 late fee may be applied to Online Registrations completed after February 28th. We are excited about this service and the PHBA Board encourages participants to use the service for 2012 signups. Anyone that still has equipment please return it during our Walk-in sign ups or contact our Equipment Directors. We need to take inventory of the equipment needs and make any necessary equipment repairs before the 2012 season.

Volunteers interested in helping  with PHBA please notify a Board Member at Walk-in sign ups or email us at doherty588@aol.com. Several opportunities are available.

PHBA will sponsor a Monte Carlo Night for our annual fundraiser on May 12th. Dinner starts at 6pm and the Games start at 7pm. We appreciate your support. More details will be available at sign ups, from Team Managers and the PHBA website.

PHBA Spring Clinics will be held March 11th, 18th & 25th at the Fralic Center. Details for League dates and times will be available at sign ups, or you will be contacted by your League Directors. This info will be on the PHBA website in Feb.

PHBA General Board Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 8 pm at the Milltown Baseball Complex Office. We welcome your ideas and have volunteer opportunities available.

Concession Stand help is needed at Milltown and Friendship Fields. You only have to be 15 years old to start. If interested contact Joe Miklos at 412-759-7695.

Penn Hills Senior Citizens Center Saturday, February 11th: 10 am - 4 pm

147 Jefferson Road Sunday, February 12th: NOON - 3 pm

$50 Fundraising fee (July 4th raffle tickets) for ALL League participants

$70 Mite League (ages 5-8) $70 Farm League (ages 8-10) $70 Little League (ages 11-12)

$70 Pony League (ages 13-14) $110 Colt, Prep, Legion (ages 15-19) ****
