Two days of great baseball under sunny skies have just been completed in the 2008 Minor Provincial Championships at Conlon Farm in Perth.
The tournament started on Sunday at 10 a.m. with two games. Ancaster defeated Timmins 11-0 and Orleans outplayed Pinecrest 11-7.
The two afternoon games saw the host team, the Perth Royals loosing to Windsor in a tough game, 22-0, and while the Royals played a good game, Windsor's bats were just too strong. In the second game of the afternoon, Upper Canada got the upper hand over Pembroke 12-1.
Ancaster won its second game of the tournament on Monday morning with a win over Orleans 12-4. The next game saw a match up between Timmins and Pinecrest with Timmins winning a nail-biter in the last inning, 10-9.
Pembroke and Windsor met on the field in the afternoon, with Windsor earning a victory by defeating the lads from the upper valley 13-9.
Monday night saw a good crowd turn-out from Perth and the surrounding areas to watch the Royals take on Upper Canada. Even though the crowds cheered on the Royals, it wasn't enough for a win. The Royals went down to defeat 13-1.
Four games are scheduled for Tuesday - 10 am; 12:30 pm; 3 with the Royals playing the evening game at 6 pm against Pembroke.
No games are schedule for Wednesday unless it is required for a tie-breaker or a rain day.
Semi-finals begin on Thursday at 3 pm with second game at 6.
Plan to take in the championship game on Friday night at 6 pm to see who will be the provincial champions for 2008.
