PREDATORS EARN 2005 WORLD SERIES BERTH!
This past weekend The Predators competed at The USSSA Holiday Magic World Series Qualifier held in Fountain Valley, CA.
Game 1 saw The Predators post a 1-0 victory over Storm USA. The Predators lone run came in the bottom of the 7th after Sarah J. led off the inning by reaching first, Rachel N. hit a double to left centerfield. With runners on 2nd & 3rd, Caitlin B. singled for the game winning hit. The defense was led by an outstanding pitching performance by Gail G. who was awarded the win.
Game 2 saw The Predators face off against QuickTurn. Gail G. Pitched 4 awesome innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and 6 strikeouts. Elaine C. came in to pitch 2 scoreless innings, giving up 1 hit. The offense for The Predators was anchored by lead-off batter Darrah R. (2 for 3 with an RBI) and The Heater (Heather Y.) who hit a triple which led to the first score of the game. Final Score: Predators 2 - QuickTurn 2.
Game 3 saw Lindsey C. take the mound against Sudden Impact. Lindsey held Sudden Impact to 0 runs, 2 hits and 8 strikeouts. With the sticks, The Predators were led by Caitlin B. (2 for 3 - including a triple and run scored) Lindsey C. (2 for 3 with a run scored) and Jessie H. who drove the ball to deep centerfield for a homerun. Final Score: Predators 4 - Sudden Impact 0
Predators win their pool.
Sunday morning, single elimination began. In the first game The Predators faced off against O.C. Bandits. With Gail G. getting the start and Lindsey C. getting the win, The Predators beat The O.C. Bandits in a 3-2 victory. The offense was led by Darrah R. (3 for 3 with a run scored) Sarah J. (2 sacrifice bunts to get Darrah into scoring position) Caitlin B. (homerun, 2 RBI's) Jessie H. (sac & single in 2 at bats) and Lindsey C. (single and run scored)
The second game saw The Predators face very tough competition in The San Diego Breakers. The Predators scored first in the second inning, when Jessie H. reached 1st base on an error. With one out, Elaine C. sacrificed herself on a bunt, to get Jessie to 2nd base. Now with 2 outs, Britt G. at the plate, The Predators took a chance and had Jessie delay steal 3rd base. This obviously shook up The Breakers enough to allow Britt G. to reach 1st base on a walk on a full count. With "Sawdust" (Ashley S.) coming to plate, 2 outs and runners at the corners. The Predators confidence in Ashley S. bunting and speed came to a climatic height when Ashley layed down a perfect squeeze bunt and was able to beat out the throw to first. This obviously had The Breakers coach extremely upset as it appeared he could not keep his emotions in check. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Britt G. led off with her 2nd walk in as many at bats. "Sawdust" (Ashley S.- 2 for 2) again in a bunt situation, was able to lay down another perfect bunt which led to her 2nd base hit of the game. The K-Dogg (Katie W.) came to the plate and layed down a sacrifice bunt. Then The Heater (Heather Y.) hit an RBI single. With 2 runners still stranded at 2nd & 3rd. The Predators took their last gamble of the game by pinch-hitting for their lead-off batter who was due to come to the plate. With Rachel N. being used sparingly due to her elbow injury, it was now time for her to pinch-hit. With a 1 & 2 count, Rachel N. was able to drive the ball into right centerfield for a 2 RBI single. Lindsey C. was awarded the 4-0 win, giving up 4 hits and striking out 9. The defense was led behind the gloves of 2nd baseman Katie W. (The K-Dogg), shortstop Sarah J. & 3rd baseman Britt G.
With this victory, The Predators secured a 2005 World Series Berth.
In the final game of the tournament, The Predators faced Long Beach Impact. Elaine C. started on the mound for The Predators, pitching 3 strong innings before needing releif after a few unfortunate walks in the 4th. With the bats: Caitlin B. (homerun, single, 2 RBI's) Elaine C. (single & walk) Heater, Rachel, Britt, Jessie, Linseed & Darrah all with hits and Sarah J. with another Sac. (Sarah J. had 6 sacs in this tournament and Rachel N. had 2 pinch-hits in 2 oppurtunities)With the glove: Jessie H. (playing leftfield) made a spectacular running & diving catch in foul territory.
Final Scores: Predators 3 - Long Beach Impact 5
This tournament was a great way to end the year for The Predators. The defense played exceptional with Sarah J. at shortstop, Katie W. at second, Britt G. at third and Caitlin B. & Heather Y. behind the plate. Along with Jessie H. at first, third & outfield, Rachel N. at first and Elaine, Ashley & Darrah in the outfield. On the mound, Lindsey C. & Gail G. did another incredible job.

PREDATORS Go Undefeated at AFA College Jamboree
November 6th & 7th saw The Predators compete in The annual AFA College Jamboree Showcase in Southgate, CA. In the first of 5 games The Predators faced off against a very strong California Rage 18U "Gold" team. The Predators started off the game in typical Predator format. With Darrah R. leading off the game in the top of the first with a walk, #2 batter Sarah J. did her job by laying down a perfect sacrifice bunt and advancing Darrah to 2nd base. #3 batter, Rachel N. drove her in with a single into the gap in left-center field. If that was not enough, catcher & clean-up batter Caitlin B. smacked a 2-run homerun into deep center field. With Lindsey C. on the mound, that was all the offense The Predators needed, as Lindsey was able to limit the oppositions offense to a mere 4 hits and no runs while striking out 7.
Game #2 saw LBG (Gail G.) take the mound against The Starz (Glendora, CA) In this game we saw Jessie H. and Katie W. each with an RBI as Elaine C. & Brittney G. both scored after receiving back to back base-on-balls. In a shortened game due to darkness, Gail G. was able to hold the offense to a 2-hit shutout while striking out exactly 1/2 of the batters she faced.
Game #3 Sunday morning saw The Predators up against The Tornados from Northern California. On the mound, Lindsey C. (0 runs / 3 hits / 11 K's)removed the wind from the Tornado's bats while Brittney G. led off the 3rd inning with a double down the left field line and then score on a RBI "Hit" by LBG (Gail G.)In this game The Predators defense was led by centerfielder Ashley S. "Sawdust" who caught 4 balls including one that she had to chase down and catch while in a full-speed sprint to prevent an opposition run from scoring on a hit that appeared to be destined for the fence. final score - PREDATORS 1 - Tornados 0.
Game #4 saw the Predators face their toughest competition of the tournament. Dynasty 18U "Gold" fought a head to head battle with The Predators. Dynasty led off the 1st inning with 2 runs, The Predators however, not being a team to give up, came back in the 2nd with a run of their own after a walk by Brittney G. and then a tremendous triple by "Tori's Sister" (Jessie H.) Bottom of the 3rd saw Dynasty nursing a 2-1 lead when "The Heater" (Heather Y.) slammed a homerun over the centerfield fence. Dynasty was able to retake the lead in the top of the 4th, but again, The Predators answered back in their half of the inning with another run after Lindsey C. led off with a double and then scored on throwing error by the catcher who atempted to stop a runner from stealing who really wasn't stealing. Final score - PREDATORS 3 - Dynasty "Gold" 3.
In the final game of the day, The Predators faced off against The So. Cal. Waves (2004 18U ASA State Runner-ups)In this game we saw one of the finest pitching performances of LBG's (Gail G.) career. Gail threw a NO-HITTER against the states #2 team. Meanwhile, The Predators offense again played the game in typical Predator format. Darrah R. (The Rabbit) leading off the game with a bunt single, Sarah J. moving her to 2nd on another perfect sacrifice bunt, then scoring on a single by clean-up batter Caitlin B. The Predators scored again in the 4th after a double by Lindsey C. After arriving at 2nd base, in order to protect Lindsey from any possible injury, The Rabbit (Darrah R.)was called in for pinch-running duty. Elaine C. then advanced Darrah to 3rd on a single, which led to Brittney G. hitting a sac fly to deep 2nd base, which allowed Darrah to tag-up and score. In the 6th inning The Predators scored 2 more runs after a single by Rachel N. and a triple by Caitlin B. final score - PREDATORS 4 - So. Cal. Waves 0.
During this tournament, The Predators defense and pitching was in total control. The Predators only committed 2 errors during the whole tournament. Katie W. (K-DOGG) played exceptionally well at 2nd base along with Sarah J. at shortstop, Brittney G. at 3rd base and Jessie H. at 1st. Meanwhile "Sawdust" (Ashley S.) again showed her tremendous talent by playing flawlessly in centerfield. And "The Heater" (Heather Y.)showed her skill not only as a great defensive catcher but as another big bat in The Predators line-up.

PREDATORS Finish 3-1-1 @ Oktoberfest
The Predators competed in Oktoberfest this past weekend. Game #1 opened up this college showcase tournament with The Predators facing The Az. Storm "Gold" - Behind the NO-HITTER of Lindsey C. The Predators defeated the opposition in a 4-0 shut-out with the offensive performance of Caitlin B. (3 for 3), Lindsey C., Elaine C., Ashley S., Katie W. and Gail G. along with a perfect sac bunt by Brittney G.
Game #2 saw The Predators face The Bakersfield Babes. The strong pitching of both Gail G. & Lindsey C. saw The Predators take their second victory of Oktoberfest. In this game we saw catcher Caitlin B. hit a triple and Lindsey C. drive her in for the Predators first score. We also saw Sarah J. score after her base hit, thanks to a single by Rachel N. and a sac fly by Caitlin B. The Predators scored again when The K-Dogg (Katie W.) led off the 6th inning with a single and then scored on a perfect sac bunt by "The Heater" (Heather Y.) A wild pitch to advanced The K-Dogg to 3rd and then Jessie H. drove her in with a single.
Game #3 saw The Predators face their only defeat of the tournament when The Predators played against Nor Cal Lite "Gold" - The Predators highlight of the game came when Darrah R. led off the 4th inning with a single then advanced to 2nd on a sac bunt by Sarah J. - Darrah R. then took 3rd on a passed ball and scored on a single by Caitlin B. Final score: Nor Cal Lite "Gold" 4 - Predators 1.
Game #4 saw LBG (Gail G.) take the mound against the Chico Starz. In this game Gail G. held the opposition to two runs on three hits. The Predators offense was inspired by Rachel N. who had (2) doubles, Lindsey C. (sgl, dbl & bb) Jessie H. (triple) and "Sawdust" (Ashley S.) (double) Brittney G., Darrah R., Elaine C. and Rachel N. all scored in The Predators 5-2 victory.
The final game of the tournament saw The Predators face The San Jose Sting. The Sting scored the first run of the game in the 4th inning, The Predators responded with a run in the 5th after Rachel N. scored off of her single and an RBI hit by Lindsey C. The Sting re-took the lead with a run in the 6th & 7th inning. Coming into the bottom of the 7th inning with The Predators being down by 2 runs and time running out, The Predators saw their hopes diminish when the first 2 batters were called out. With 2 out, Sarah J. steps to plate and drives a ball to hot for the Sting defense to handle. With Sarah J. on first base, Rachel N. then approaches the plate and drive her first pitch to the gap in left-center for a double. Now with runners on 2nd & 3rd, 2-outs, Caitlin B. steps to the plate and looks at low strike, pitch #2 coming, Caitlin B. anticipates a rise ball and sure enough a rise ball it is, after Caitlin's bat makes contact, the ball rises back over the pitchers head and continues to rise straight over the center fielder also. Caitlin reaches 3rd base on a stand-up triple and scores the 2 runs to tie the game. Final score - Predators 3 - S. J. Sting 3.
All in all The Predators had a very sucessful Oktoberfest Tournament. Even Genna A. (Magic) still recovering from her injury showed up on Sunday to cheer her team on. Genna we miss you and can't wait until you get back. Even though Sarah J. has done an outstanding job at shortstop, we still need you back in our line-up. GET WELL SOON!!

PREDATORS finish 4 & 1 in two tournaments in a row!
The Pacific Coast Predators have now completed two tournaments this summer. In both of these tournaments The Predator ...

Congrats to the K-Dogg
Predator infielder Katie W. as finally moved up to the varsity squad at Westlake High. We at the news staff here can only believe that the varsity coach at Westlake finally took the oppurtunity to watch the K-Dogg play. Congrats Katie, we new you belonged on Varsity the whole time.

Lindsey charges past the Chargers in opening game
This past week Lindsey C. started on the mound for the NPHS Panthers as they hosted The Agoura Chargers in the Maramonte League 2004 opening game. Lindsey set the pace and held The Chargers offense off as The Panthers won their opening game.

PREDATORS ADD TO THE FAMILY
The Predators have added two additional players to their 2004 team. From Westlake High infielder/outfielder Katie W. (known to her teammates as The K-Dogg) who's defensive ability will only add more versatility to The Predators roster. Also added to The Predators roster is Moorpark High's sophomore starting 3rd baseman Brittney G. We welcome both K-Dogg's and Britt's family to The Predator family.

PREDATORS TAKE FIRST / WIN 18U WORLD SERIES BERTH
This past weekend The PREDATORS (playing in the 18U division) went undefeated and took first place at the Pride Classic Triple Crown World Series Qualifier at The Epic Center in Rancho Cucamonga. The PREDATORS earned a berth in the 18U World Series to be held in Park City, Utah. In this tournament we saw The PREDATORS provide TWO come-from-behind victories, TWO mercy victories, TWO Dynasty victories, TWO one-hitters, TWO homeruns and TWO pop-up catches in one game for 3rd baseman Sarah J. (you know I had to throw that in)
Game #1 saw The Rocket (Lauren S.) take the mound against H.D. Heat. In this game we saw the offense of #2 batter Sarah J. hit a homer and #3 batter Becca C. hit a triple.(although if it wasn't for poor base coaching at 3rd base it would of been a homer) The Rocket struck out 12 in this game, while giving up only 1 hit. We also saw a great defensive play by catcher Colleen H. who picked off a runner at first base who decided to take a lead a little more then Colleen H. would allow. FINAL SCORE: PREDATORS=3 / HEAT=O
Game #2 saw The Missile (Lauren C.) take the mound against Inland Dynasty. The Missile had a very impressive outing with all her pitches finding the proper locations, walking only 1 batter and striking out 4 while giving up only 4 hits. In this game Genna A. hit a triple and Lindsey C. hit a double. FINAL SCORE: PREDATORS=5 / DYNASTY=2
Game #3 saw Lindsey C. on the mound against The California Cougars. Again the pitching was superb. Lindsey C. gave up no runs, 4 hits and 6 strike outs. The big blows in this game came from a spetacular catch in centerfield by Ashley S. and a grand slam homer by Becca C. FINAL SCORE: PREDATORS=6 / COUGARS=0 (mercy score)
Semi-final game against Dynasty saw The PREDATORS offense explode, scoring 10 runs. Genna A. & Lauren C. each had singles & triples, Lauren S., Errin S. & Becca C. had 2 singles each, Dana I. had a double and Darrah R. stole home. Meanwhile on the mound Lindsey C., Becca C. & Lauren C. held Dynasty to 1 run. FINAL SCORE: PREDATORS=10 / DYNASTY=1 (mercy score)
Championship game saw The Rocket (Lauren S.) take the mound one more time, this time against H.D. Thunder. In this game we saw The Rocket strike out 8 while giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. The biggest blow of this game came in the 3rd inning when Thunder was finally able to get a runner to second. Unfortunately for The Thunder, they obviously felt that on a attempted bunt they could steal 3rd - WRONG ANSWER - Caitlin B. gunned her down with a great swipe tag by Becca C. That play obviously took some of the thunder away from Thunder. Other highlights include Darrah R. & Errin S. stealing home and Dana I. going 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored. FINAL SCORE: PREDATORS=5 / THUNDER-=2. PREDATORS 18U DIVISION CHAMPS!!!!! - A special mention has to go out to #22 - Alisha L. who is still nursing her back injury from The Tourney By The Sea Tournament. Alisha L. was at all games leading the cheers. Get well soon - we miss you in the line-up.

PREDATORS QUALIFY FOR AFA NATIONALS ! - "AGAIN"
The 16U Predator's participated in the AFA Tourney by the Sea this past weekend and ended up qualifying for the 2003 AFA Nationals. This time however they played up in the 18U division and finished 2nd to qualfy in the 18U Nationals to be held in Beaumont, Texas.
On Friday night the Predator's opened up in pool play against the Ballistic's. Behind a strong pitching performance of Lindsey C. and the bat of the Lauren C. (3 for 3, single, triple & home run along with 2 RBI's, 2 runs)The game was called, due to time limit restraints with The Predator's at bat with one out. (Lindsey C. 2 for 2, 1 run - Genna A. 1 sgl, 2 runs - Alisha L., Lauren S., Caitlin B, all had singles and Darrah R. earned a stolen base) Final score: Predator's "5" - Ballistic "3"
Game 2 saw the Predator's face the stiff competion of The California Wave's 18U Gold from Santa Barbara. Lauren "The Rocket" S. was on the mound for the Predator's giving up only 3 hits in one of the most outstanding pitching performances of her career. For The Wave's, they threw the University of Virginia Pitcher & DP Christina G. who gave up only 1 hit. After 5 complete shut-out innings of one of the greatest pitching duels this writer has ever witnessed, The Wave's were able to score 1 run off the bat of Christina G. (6 collegiate homeruns for the U. of V. this past season) Final score: CA. Wave's 18U Gold "1" - Predator's 16U "0"
Saturday, The Predator's started off the day having to face another 18U Gold team, this one however was from San Pedro called The So. Cal. Waves 18U Gold. Both teams came out with their bats loaded. For the Predator's, Lauren S. went 2 for 3 with a run & RBI, Lindsey C. went 2 for 2, Alisha L., Becca C., Lauren C., Sarah J. each had singles. Final score: So. Cal. Waves 18U Gold "6" - Predator's 16U "2"
In the final game on Saturday The Predator's faced off against the Bakersfield Blast. With Predators coming off two tough losses against Gold teams, The Predator's weren't in the mood to do anymore losing. With Lauren C. on the mound, The Predator's took control in the very first inning when Becca C. who hit a single, scored off of a past ball and a Lauren S. single. While Lauren C. controlled The Blast's offence, by allowing only 2 hits through-out 6 innings, Lauren S. took final control of the The Predator's offense by belting a lead-off home run in the top of the 6th inning. (Genna A. single, Darrah R. walk & run scored, Dana I. stolen base) Final score: Predator's 16U "3" - Blast 16U "0"
Sunday - Elimination Games:
Game 1 saw the Predator's face off with the second seeded team from the other pool bracket. California Fury 18U. With the Predator's bats still wanting more action, Genna A. led off the game with a single, Sarah J. then reached 1st on a sacrifice bunt and error, Becca C. then reached on a fielders choice and another error. Lauren S. drove in Genna with a single, then Caitlin B. drove in another run with a double. Although all The Predator's needed was 1 run to win the game, you couldn't quiet their bats, The Predator's would score a total of 4 runs off 9 hits. Meanwhile, The Califonia Fury 18U scored no runs while gaining only 1 hit off of the subperb pitching performance of Lindsey. C. (Genna A. sgl, dbl, 1 run, Becca C. 2 sgls, Lauren S. 2 sgls, Caitlin B. dbl, & sgl, Lindsey C. & Dana I. each singled, Errin S. & Sarah J. each sacrificed) Final score: Predator's 16U "4" - California Fury 18U "0"
Semi-Final Game pitted the Predator's against The California Wave's 18U Gold from Santa Barbara. After losing to this team 1-0 in pool play, The Predator's were ready for the rematch. In this game, again we saw Lauren S. on the mound for The Predator's and Christina G. on the mound for The Wave's. This time, however the result was going to be a bit difference. Peering through her dark glasses, "The Rocket" faced each batter one on one. In the top of the first, Lauren S. had the oppositions lead-off batter ground out to 3rd, she then struck out their no. 2 batter, and again, had their no. 3 batter ground out to 3rd. In the bottom of the 1st, Genna A. led off with a single, Sarah J. & Becca C. both sacrificed to get Genna A. to 3rd. With 2 outs, "The Rocket" (3 for 3) stepped to the plate and slammed a single to right field to score Genna A. In the top of the 2nd, Lauren S. was able to shut down The Wave's offense again, this time with the help of 3rd baseman, Sarah J. who made an awesome defensive play by snagging a sacrifice bunt and throwing to 3rd to get the runner who was off on the pitch. In the 3rd, "The Rocket" again shut down The Waves, facing only 3 batters. In this inning The Predators saw Becca C.(shortstop)make an incredible leap to rob The Waves lead-off batter of a line drive hit. Top of the 4th inning saw the Wave's strike out twice, and a unassisted put out by 1st baseman Genna A. ended the inning for The Wave's. Bottom of the 4th saw The Predator's score another run when Becca C. scored after she reached 1st base on an error, Lauren S. hitting a single, Caitlin B. driving home Becca C. with a double. Top of the 5th, The Rocket, again shut down The Wave's in order. In the top of the 6th, The Wave's were able to score their only run of the game, when the lead off batter was walked, and then scored off of a sacrifice and fielder's choice. In the top of the 7th, The Wave's again were shut-down in order and again with the help of shortstop Becca C. who made a diving catch to prevent a hit. With The Predator's lead-off batter & second baseman on the bench with a injury. Lauren C. stepped into the second base position and played flawlessly. Incredibly, the entire Predator defense was nothing short of outstanding. The offense also included 2 sacrifices by Sarah J. and a single by right fielder Collen H. Final score: Predators 16U "2 RUNS ON 6 HITS" - CA. Waves 18U Gold "1 RUN ON 2 HITS" WP: Lauren S. "complete game" / LP: Christina G. "complete game" - PREDATORS QUALIFY FOR 18U AFA NATIONAL & CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.
Championship Game saw The Predator's again face the So. Cal. Waves 18U Gold from San Pedro. After a hard fought victory against The California Wave's 18U Gold, The Predator's seemed to be running a bit tired, however, The Predator's were able to score 1 run off of a single by Lauren C. and a triple by Caitlin B. Lindsey C. pitched another outstanding game, but this time in a losing cause. Lindey C. also got a single in this game. Final score: Pretaors 16U "1" - So. Cal. Wave's 18U Gold "4"

PREDATORS QUALIFY FOR AFA NATIONALS !
This past weekend The PREDATORS attended their first qualifying tournament for the 2003 Nationals. The tournament was the annual Turkey-Shoot Tournament in Fontana, CA. To the amazement of the stunned crowds and to the opposing teams, The PREDATORS finished in 2nd place, granting them a berth at the AFA 2003 Nationals held in Decatur, Illinois.
In game #1 of pool play, The PREDATORS lost 3-0 against the established team Flash D' Gold. Although a tough loss, It only fueled the fire The PREDATORS would need to go undefeated up the ladder to the championship game.
Game 2 saw The PREDATORS win 6-0 over "Quicksilver" Pitcher Lauren "The Rocket" S. struck out 5 giving up only 4 hits. At the plate, Lead off batter, Alisha (P.C.) L. went 2 for 3, Becca C. went 2 for 3 including a double, Genna A., Caitlin B. & Lauren C. all went 2 for 3.
Game 3 saw The PREDATORS defeat "Extreme" 4 to 2. On the mound Becca C. handled the oppositions offense giving up 3 hits & 1 run. Lauren S. went 2 for 3 with a 3 RBI double, Alisha L. went 2 for 2.
Game 4 saw The PREDATORS stung the "Sting" and eliminated them from the tournament with a 5-1 victory. Lauren S. pitched a 1-hitter in this game, striking out 9. With the bat, Becca C. had a triple & single with 2 RBI's, Lindsey "Boo" C. went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored, Alisha (P.C.)L. had 2 sacrifices.
In the semi-finals, The PREDATORS gave the final warning to "Final Warning" by defeating & eliminating them from the tournament. The PREDATORS 7-0 victory was held intact behind the 1-hitter from Lindsey "Boo" C. The game was pretty much over thanks to the bases loaded clearing double from Miss. P.C. herself, Alisha L. Also with the bats..Sarah J. 2 for 2 with a stolen base & sac., Becca C. 3 for 3 with a double, 2 runs scored & a sacrifice.
By the end of the day, The PREDATORS had to face "Flash D' Gold" one more time for the tournament Championship. Unfortunately, after 3 days of softball games and 2 previous games this day, The PREDATORS fell to "Flash D' Gold" and settled for 2nd in the tournament. The top (2) teams in each age group earned a berth for the AFA Nationals.
Overall, The PREDATORS had a very successful weekend. In their first attempt to qualify for a national berth, The PREDATORS succeeded. Defensive Player of the tournament has to go to the girl that travels with the softball team, our catcher, Caitlin B. Offensive player of the tournament is none other then Becca C. who had, 5 singles, 3 doubles & 1 triple. Tournaments MVP goes to Alisha L. who obviously had no PROBLEMs with either her bat, glove or baserunning. 5 singles, 1 double, 3 sacs, 1 HBP, and did an excellant job defensively. This is one CHILD that had one heck of a tournament.
Congratulations, to all The PREDATORS for such and outstanding weekend.

PREDATORS GO UNDEFEATED "again"
This past weekend the PREDATORS proved to all they can play with the best of them. In the california Waves College Exposure Tournament, the PREDATORS played up in the 18U division.
On Saturday morning in their first game of the weekend, The PREDATORS faced the Pumas. With "The Rocket" Lauren S. on the mound to control the opposition's offense, (giving up one hit & NO runs) The PREDATORS took control of the game in the 3rd inning scoring two runs after Genna A. reached 1st base on a dropped 3rd strike, Alisha L. then sacrificed her to 2nd, Sarah J. then drove a single to right center. With 2 runners on base, "The Rocket" changed her focus from pitching to hitting to slam a triple into the left field gap, scoring both runs. The PREDATORS then came back in the 4th to score an additional run when Caitlin B. lead off with a single, Ashley S. sacrificed (courtesy runner) Darrah R. to 2nd base, Errin S. then grounded into a fielders choice to allow Darrah R. to move to 3rd base, Darrah R. was the able to score the 3rd run for The PREDATORS after a pick-off attempt by The Pumas went awry. final score PREDATORS - 3 / Pumas - 0
In the second game of the day, The PREDATORS faced The Visalia Flash, In a game that ended in a time limit draw, "0-0", The PREDATORS had an outstanding pitching performance by Lindsey C. who struck out "8" batters and gave up NO walks.
In The PREDATORS final game of the day, The O.C. Storm was the opposition. Although, this game too ended in a time limit, "0-0". An outstanding pitching performance was deliverd by Becca C. who faced "22" batters and struck out "12" of them.
On Sunday morning, The PREDATORS rose up to play The Pirettes. With "The Rocket" back on the mound throwing a 2-hitter in this game, The PREDATORS offense exploded. In the 2nd inning Lauren S. walked, Caitlin B. had a single, Lauren C. reached on a fielders choice. With 2 runners on base, Ashley S. stepped up to the plate and calmly smacked the ball into the next hemisphere for a 3-run homer. The PREDATORS then scored again in the 3rd, when Sarah J. lead off with a single and then scored on a sacrifice bunt by Becca C. and a single by Genna A. In the 5th inning, The PREDATORS scored an additional 2 runs on a Lauren S. double. final score - PREDATORS - 6 / Pirettes - 2
In the final game of the tournament, The PREDATORS faced The Stunnerz. This time on the mound for The PREDATORS was "The Pitcher, formerly known as The Missile" Lauren C. who did a great job for the PREDATORS giving up "0" hits (yes a no-hitter in our final game) and allowing only 3 baserunners. With The PREDATORS offense churning on all 13 cylinders, The PREDATORS were able to shut out The Stunnerz 5-0.
Although The PREDATORS defense this weekend was almost flawless, the offense was explosive and the pitching was incredible, none of the success this weekend would have been possible if it had not been for the superb coaching performance of Rich Bailey. (side note: Alisha L. - great job at the leadoff spot.)
GREAT JOB LADIES !!!!!!!!!

PREDATORS UNDEFEATED AT VALLEY BREEZE FRIENDLIES
On November 3rd the PREDATORS participated at The Valley Breeze Friendlies at Valley College in the San Fernando Valley.
With Lindsey C., Becca C. & Lauren C. missing in action for the day due to some other sport All-Star obligation, (by the way congrats to Lauren C., Becca C. & Lindsey C. for making their respective soccer All-Star Teams)the pitching for the day for the PREDATORS fell primarily onto the shoulders of Lauren S. (who I might add, did a GREAT job on the mound)
Game #1 saw The PREDATORS go up against the NEMESIS. With Lauren S. on the mound, things went pretty much the PREDATORS way. In the 2nd inning Caitlin B. reached 1st on a base hit, Errin S. laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move Caitlin B. into scoring position, Colleen H. came up to drive in the winning run with a base hit. The PREDATORS again scored in the 4th when Lauren S. singled, stole a base and scored when Genna A. hit a single which caused the opposition to make a crucial error that allowed Lauren S. to score. The oppositions total offense consisted of a single base hit and a walk. PREDATORS 2 - NEMESIS 0
Game #2 saw the PREDATORS face the O.C. REBELS, Again Lauren S. started on the mound, this time giving up NO hits in 4 innings, Colleen H. took over the mound in the 5th to earn the save. The PREDATORS offense exploded with 5 runs & 8 scattered hits. With the bat: Alisha L. had 2 hits & 2 RBI's, Ashley S. had a double, sacrifice bunt and 2 RBI's, Sarah J., Lauren S., Colleen H., Samantha L., & Darrah R. each added hits. On a side note, Genna A. got up to bat in the 1st and fouled a ball off her cute little nose, thankfully a bloody nose and a little cartlidge damage was the extent of the injury (NO Broken Nose) We wish Genna A. a very speedy recovery. Final score PREDATORS 5 - O.C. REBELS 0
In the final game of the day, The PREDATORS took on the VALLEY BREEZE. With Lauren S. a bit tired, The PREDATORS decided to go deep into the "Bullpen" Errin S. started on the mound and pitched 2 scoreless innings, giving up only 1 hit. Darrah R. came in and pitched the 3rd & 4th innings, again giving up no runs and only 1 hit. The 5th & 6th innings belonged to 3rd baseman, Sarah J. who came in and pitched 2 hitless/scoreless innings. Sarah J. also scored the game's only run when she led off the 4th with a single and then was drove home by a powerful push bunt down the 1st base line by Lauren S. who had the opposition fooled and unsble to control their throws. Final score PREDATORS 1 - VALLEY BREEZE 0
