NEW MARKETING PERSON

Shannon Contri will be our new "Marketing Chairman". Marketing is so important to grow our league and make a great experience for all the players. Southern is discussing for the near future that it will take 3 teams to make a local league. So, we need to start now to grow our league and be prepared with 3 teams per level.  If you are interested in serving on this committee contact me.  jrowlandky@yahoo.com

QUICK START

PATA is proud of a program which was started this fall in Marshall County.  A group of tennis enthusists decided that they wanted to create a Quickstart program for grades kindergarten through 5th grade.  Terri Thorpe and Kevin Court met with Jason Miller of KTA/STA and developed a plan to provide the program.  The goal was to teach the Quickstart method and generate some interest with the hopes of having 45 or 50 kids.  To there surprise and amazement on registration day they had 105 kids sign up to play.  Each child was given a racquet and a shirt for signing up.  This goes on record as the most successful program in PATA's short history.  PATA instructors and volunteers offered their assistance, but the majority of the work was provided by Marshall County parents and volunteers. Way to go.

SUPPORT YOUR TENNIS ASSOCIATION

On both the "League" and "Community Tennis Association" web pages you will find two new buttons.  The "Support our Team" and "Sportswear" buttons are on the left hand side of the screen.  The "Support our Team" button will take you to a page that you can order or renew any magazine subscription.  For every subscription you order or renew a small percentage will go directly to your CTA.  If you are going to order magazines do it here to help you local CTA.  These funds benefit all players of all ages in our Purchase Area.   This is an easy way you can show your support.
The "Sportswear" button is strictly to benefit you and or your teams with a place to order products with the "Purchase Area" logo.

PLAYERS

Among other things, the Purchase Area CTA pays for the lights at the Scott Thompson courts.  When you are finished playing there please turn off the light before you go.  The bill this summer was much higher than it needed to be.  They turn off on a timer after 2 hours but when you leave them on it costs!!!  Plus, sometimes the timer sticks and they stay on all night.  That really costs!!!  The only way to avoid this it to make sure you hit the OFF button before you leave.  Think of this like your own house.  Please conserve.

USTA MEMBERSHIPS

***ATTENTION*** - USTA tennis players with family memberships
USTA Southern, is looking closely at each CTA and their membership numbers. In an effort to increase our membership numbers, we are asking you to do something for our CTA. It will not cost you anything, but it will help all of us in the long run. When you get or renew your family membership each year, sign up all of your family members.

The Purchase Area Tennis Association is working hard to provide tennis programs for the participants in Western Kentucky and West Tennessee. We appreciate each of you and will continue to create programs to grow tennis in our region.
