Season Ends With 25 – 16 Loss
The Parkland Panther Football Club’s 2009 season came to an abrupt end last night at Clarke Field in Edmonton last night, losing a hard fought battle to the Edmonton Stallions 25 – 16. The Panthers opened the scoring in the first quarter with the first of three field goals from Big Woz to take a 3 – 0 lead. QB Jordie Holton scored on a 17 yd option run to make it 10 – 0 for the Panthers, and eventually the Parkland boys would go into the locker room at half time with a 13 – 10 lead. But the Stallions were already gaining momentum and a depleted Parkland roster was beginning to show signs of wear. In the end, the Panthers just didn’t have enough fire power to win the day, thus ending a disappointing season and another early exit from the AFL playoffs.
