FAQ’S ABOUT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON

When is the first day of practice? Monday, July 28th 6pm-8pm.

Will I receive a reminder of this? Yes! A letter (and/or email) will be sent (approximately) the end of June to each child/family that registers to make them aware of equipment pass-out as well as the first day of practice. Equipment pass-outs are tentatively scheduled for the weekend of July 12th and 13th. If your football player has not received his equipment prior to this day, (July 28th) it is a good idea to come to the field a little earlier (5:30ish) to get suited up.

Where is the practice field located? Quinn Elementary School, located at 7825 W. 103rd Street in Palos Hills. Practice is held behind the school and we ask that you drive slowly through this parking lot for the safety of our kids, in addition to the Sandbox Daycare that is located there as well.

How many days a week will my child practice over summer vacation? And then when school is back in session? Football players will practice Monday-Friday 6-8pm. Cheerleaders will practice Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 6-8pm.Football players will go down to 3 days a week, like cheerleaders, approximately when most children are back in school. That schedule change is normally announced mid-August.

We have a vacation scheduled in August. Is this going to be a problem? No. We understand vacations are a huge part of wrapping up the summertime. We just ask that your child is in attendance every practice possible.

What should my child wear to practice? For the first week, football players will not wear their equipment. T-shirts, shorts and their Molded Plastic Spikes (only this type is allowed by our league) will be the required attire. Cheerleaders are to wear t-shirts, shorts, and gym shoes.  No skirts, skorts, flip flops or jeans are to be worn for practice. Please send your children with PLENTY of water!!

When should my dues be paid in full? We ask that the dues are paid in full the first week of practice. Any child not paid in full by the first game will be ineligable to participate.

When is the first game? The game schedule will be passed out at the Mandatory Parents Meeting on August 22, 2008 as well as posted on the website at www.eteamz.com/paloslightning .  Games are typically played on Sunday afternoons but a few games may be played on Saturday evenings “under the lights”.

Is there a website that our family can check for daily updates during the season? Or someone we can call with questions?    YES!     www.eteamz.com/paloslightning --- you may also click on the WEBMASTER icon if you have a question or comment. It will direct you to our email and you can expect a response in 24-48 hrs, even during the off season! As always, if you have a question that needs immediate attention you may call Angel @ 773.552.1252 or Deborah @ 708.516-9637.

I want to get involved and help. Whom should I speak with? All of our coaches and staff are volunteer, and receive no compensation, other than a huge thank you at the end of the season.  If you think there is an area that you feel you could be of service, please speak directly to Angel or Deborah.  We are funded only by registration fees, donations and fundraising and rely on our members of the program to keep us running strong!

WELCOME TO THE LIGHTNING FAMILY !!!!
