Our program promotes and prepares players for the highest level of competition including college, ODP and PDP. Our program ensures the majority of the local playing population is served and that a competitive soccer playing experience is within reach of all the league’s young athletes. The well being, safety and development of our players always come first and foremost in all our decisions. We look to develop the individual as both a player and a person, and instill values that will make our players successful in life. At our roots, we are a volunteer based organization and our club works together to serve the young athletes of our local community When our players become young adults and leave California Blues it is our goal that we have developed: A Dedicated athlete An outstanding soccer player who is prepared to play a the next level An effective leader A person who values hard-work, personal accountability and respect for people of all racial and economic classes. Cal Blues Methodology We are a different type of club. Our blend of volunteer coaches and pro trainers ensures we have a personal commitment to each team while bringing a professional development product to the field. While other clubs may look down on volunteer coaches, we believe it is our strength; our coaches truly care, are committed, and are here for the players. Volunteer and Pro-Coaches working side-by side DOC’s who are engaged with all teams. Our DOC’s also act as trainers and are constantly involved with the teams in their age groups. We believe that the DO”s within our club are accountable for the development of both our coaches and players and this only comes about through personal involvement. All our volunteer coaches receive weekly oversight from their Directors of Coaching and Pro-Coaches. Coach’s education is an on-going process and there is no better place to learn than on the field with their team. Our Coaches receive regular feedback on their sessions and how to better improve their overall skills When our DOC’s and Pro-Trainers are working with our teams they are also developing our coaches. The learning process never stops, when teams are participating in Pro-Training sessions, their coach is also learning from the more experienced trainers as well as observing other approaches and styles to add to their coaching methodology. On-Field Training & Development An Age-specific, Structured Program. structured program that is age specific and standardizes the flow of all our training sessions In –house Coaches Development. To ensure proper implementation of our program we conduct regular coaches training sessions to ensure that our program is understood, coaching point are universal, and there is a consistent application of our program. Our coaches have the opportunity to learn from each other and grow. Coaches Formal Education. We in the process of educating al our coaches to earn at least a NSCAA Youth National Diploma or a CYSA Level D Certification. Cal Blues Style of Play. All our training and development is structured to support our style of play, attack minded, creative, possession oriented, fluid, and defensively sound Let the Players Play, Let the Game Teach. Others joystick, we educate. Once the game starts it’s time to let the players play. This is when we determine how well they are learning the game. Players learn from making their own decisions and experiencing success and failure, coaches should not take this opportunity away from the players to preserve their win-loss record. We Play a lot of Soccer. The players are here to play; they want to be out on the grass, in a tournament, playing a league game. They came here to learn, grow and play. We do not limit their playing. Game On. Playing Competitive Soccer Means Always Preparing Players for the Next Level. We believe that it is our goal as a club to assist our players for success at the next level. For each individual player this next level may have a different meaning. For some it is as a starter on their high school team, for others it is to make the Olympic Development Program, as players become older it is College Soccer, and for some of the really special players it is to play professional soccer. It is up to the players to understand that next level for themselves and to put in the hard work, it is for our club to help them get there. Putting the Players First. We put the players first; we are all about their development and growth. We feel that parents should be their child’s biggest fan and a strong supporter of the team, all its players, and the club. Our club was not formed to create jobs for coaches; we were created to provide a community service to the youth of PYSL and the surrounding areas. Involved Families allow us to be Successful. As a volunteer organization with a goal of keeping youth sports affordable, parental involvement is essential. Parents are volunteers on our board, within the teams, as coaches and at club events. We feel that youth sports are a family event and should be enjoyed as a family. Our Soccer Values A Beautiful, Fluid, Attacking Style of Soccer. The game of soccer is a beautiful and exciting game when teams strive to display skill, be creative, take risks and attack. We teach our players to invest in their personal skills, take risks, think for themselves and attack; every player on the field is an attacking and defending player. It is a beautiful game, play it beautifully. Contributing to the Evolution of the Game. The game of soccer continues to get faster, demand that players have more technical skill, require creativity and individual skill and forces player to make quick independent decisions. These are all outstanding evolution in the game and our goal is to continue to evolve our program to not only teach this style of play to further its evolution. Take the Beautiful Game and make it the Fast, Creative, Attacking Beautiful Game Giving to the Next Generation of Soccer Players. Not all our players will go on to play college soccer or professional soccer; some won’t start on their high school soccer teams. However, they can all become students and passionate about the game and be the next generation of soccer coaches and educators. They can learn the value of giving and our legacy can live through them. It Must be Fun. When all is said and done, players play to have fun, be challenged, to learn and to compete. However, first and foremost, they play to have fun. We must maintain the joy in the game in our coaching methods, our traiing program, our interaction with the athletes and the running of the club and the teams. It should be fun to play, fun to watch, and establish fond memories that our players can look back on when they are adults.
