About the Orono Thunder Soccer Club Travel Program
The Orono Thunder Soccer Club is a community based traveling soccer program primarily serving the residents of Minnesota Independent School District #278. Our players primarily live in or near the Orono School district. However, we accept registrations for any player interested in playing soccer with the club. Our program offers options for youth players who will be age 4 or older on July 31 of the current year.
What are the Soccer Programs? For players age 8 and older, we organize teams for traveling soccer. Our club is affiliated with the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA – www.mnyouthsoccer.org). Our teams typically compete in the West District. We usually play against other teams in the West Metro. For players ages 4-8, we offer an in-house developmental program.
Please note that we offer a choice for 8 year olds. These players have the option of playing in traveling soccer or in our in-house program. In making that choice, parents should be aware of the following:
· U8 Players opting to play traveling soccer will be assigned to a team competing at the U9 age. Teams (our teams and opponents) will be made of players that are age 9 and under.
· Traveling soccer teams compete against teams for other clubs. Our opponents are typically in the West Metro.
· Traveling teams typically have 3 meetings a weeks (between practices and games).
· The In-House program is focused on skills development and preparing players for traveling soccer. It meets twice per week at fields in Orono. Games are informal.
