Finish Takes 2nd in Keller Texas

Another solid tournament put in by the Finish ladies!!  We went 5-1 on the weekend, with some good Texas competition.

In the first game, we played Texas Trouble and came out on top with a 6-4 victory.  Amy and Abby collected 2 hits each.  After being tied 1-1 in the second inning, Katie had a 2 RBI single to put us up 3-1.  Abby then drove in 2 runs in the 3rd inning with a triple to put us ahead to stay 5-4.  Abby also picked up the win in the game.

In the second game, Finish played Fort Worth Batbusters.  Finish won the game 6-1, to put us at 2-0 for the weekend.  Katelyn and Rachel had 2 hits each and scored 5 of the 6 runs.  Bailee had 2 RBI's in the game and Addi broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning and Finish never looked back.  Katelyn pitched 5 innings and struck out 8 in collecting the win.

Third game brought Finish up against Synergy.  Finish came away with a 7-2 victory.  Katelyn and Bailee had 2 hits each with Bailee picking up an RBI triple.  Not to be outdone, Brittanee and Kodi both hit home runs in the game.  Kodi picthed 5 innings, striking out 5 to pick up the victory.  Addi and Bailee added 2 more RBI's each in the game.

Fourth game brought up the second Fort Worth Batbuster team.  Finish took their only loss on the weekend 6-3.  Rachel and Katelyn had 2 hits and Kodi had 2 RBI's while Abby had the other one.  Abby took a shot off the leg while she was pitching but came back okay as well as Brittanee came back from a twisted knee in the game.  Glad to see they were both okay.

In the fifth game, Finish took on the Ladycats.  Finish took them out by a final score of 7-0.  Katelyn had 3 hits in the game as well as Bailee.  Abby put us ahead in the 4th inning with an RBI single and in the 5th inning , Finish put it away with a double by Brittanee and RBI single by Katie, followed by an RBI double from Katelyn and finally an RBI triple from Bailee who ended the game with 3 RBI's.  Shania had a hit in the game and scored on one of Bailee's RBI hits.  Katelyn threw 7 innings and struck out 11.

In the final game, Finish played Texas Freeze.  The final score had Finish winning 9-0.  Rachel, Bailee, Amy and abby all had 2 hits apiece but Abby had back to back triples and drove in 5 runs in the game.  Shania had an RBI single knocking in Kodi who got on by a hit too.  Kodi picthed and threw 5 innings, striking out 2 in collecting the final win.

Great effort from the Finish girls all weekend long.  I love to see you all play and play hard.

Finish Takes Third in Allen Texas!!

image_name2

A great tournament for you girls as we got a taste of Texas.  We played 7 games and went 6 and 1 with some really good games throughout the tournament.  We played 4 games on Saturday and 3 more on Sunday.

In the first game we played Texas Pride and won by a score of 13 – 2.  Bailee, Katelyn, Amy, Abby and Katie all had 2 hits each while Amy drove in 3 runs in the game.  Abby threw 3 innings to pick up the win.  Katie threw out 2 would be base stealers in the game, as well.

In the second game, Finish played Platinum and won 7 – 0.  Kaylon drove in 2 runs while Reagan and Brittanee each picked up an RBI as well.  Katelyn threw 5 innings striking out 12 in the game to pick up the win.

In the third game, we played TFS.  This was a well played game on both sides.  Reagan, Kodi and Katelyn had 2 hits apiece while Rachel and Kodi scored the only 2 runs of the game and a 2-0 win.  Kodi threw a no hitter and struck out 6 over 5 innings.

In the fourth game, we played one of the Texas Glory teams.  They got us by a score of 5-0.  Our bats went  silent for the only time all weekend.  Bailee and Rachel had our only hits of the game.

In the fifth game, we played Lewisville Force and while the game ended abruptly due to an injury to the other team, we certainly came out ready to play.  We sent 7 batters to the plate, collecting 5 hits and 1 walk.  We also executed 2 squeeze plays in the inning by Bailee and Brittanee scoring Rachel and Katelyn.  The game ended with us up 3-0.  Our prayers go out to Mary Beth Gorsuch in the game as she took a shot to the head.

In the sixth game and perhaps the most exciting game I have ever been a part of, we played American Freedom.  After a rough  first four innings and getting down 6 – 0, we came up to bat with 5 minutes to go in the game and we were the home team.  Kaylon lead off the inning with a walk, followed by another walk to Bailee.  Kodi came up to bat next and had a single to right field.  After that Britanee hit a double deep down the left field line to score 3 and make the score 6 – 3.  Time had expired by this time.  Next up, came Abby, who promptly belted a triple to right center field for a 6 – 4 score.  Shania lined a single up the middle to make the score 6 – 5.  Katie then walked and Amy grounded into a fielder’s choice to give us the first out of the inning.  Rachel came up after that and hit a single up the middle to score Katie and tie the game at 6 – 6.  Katelyn then had an infield hit to load the bases and one out.  Kaylon came up again and hit a hard ground ball to short who threw home to force Amy out.  To the plate steps Bailee Mac.  The first pitch is at her head and going to the backstop but it hits her bat inadvertently for a foul ball.  Rachel would almost assuredly have scored.  It didn’t matter though, as Bailee lined the next pitch in to right center field(triple) to score, Rachel, Katelyn and Kaylon all scored even though they had no third base coach J. The final score was 9-6 and WOW, what a game!!

In the last game we played AXE.  We had one of our most consistent hitting games of the weekend scoring 2 in the first, 2 in the third and 3 in the fourth inning.  Rachel had 2 hits, while Katelyn had 3.  Shania lined a double down the left field line with her best slide ever too.  Katelyn also hit a triple in the game and Finish won 7 – 2.

One of the best hitting performances by our team ever as we had 6 girls hit .500 or better.  One would think that we did not see very good pitching by those gaudy numbers but I have to say the pitching was solid in almost every game and we really came through!  Nicely done girls and I have to say we have always been great about not giving up on a game and you have never showed it more than this weekend.

Finish Wins Stars Of Tomorrow Tournament

What another fantastic Finish!  We ended up going 6 and 1 in the tournament to win.  After losing in the winners bracket final, we had to come through the losers bracket, win a game down to our last strike and survived the winning run on 3rd in the final game with no outs.

In the first pool game, we took on Badside and won by a 3 - 0 margin.  Kaylon was the hitting star, as she had 2 hits and scored 2 runs.  Abby pitched a complete game allowing 1 hit and striking out 5, while registering the win.  Addi accumulated a total of 6 outs in the game.

In the second game, we played Twisters.  We scored 5 runs in the first inning and that held up as we won 5 - 1.  In the first inning, Kodi and Katelyn lead off with hits, Brittanee followed with a walk.  Abby came up and lined a 2 run double over center field.  Bailee and Kelsi followed that with RBI singles and then Katie followed with an RBI groundout for the last run of the inning.  Kodi threw 4-2/3 innings to get the win.  Katelyn came in to get the final out for the save.  Shania had 4 putouts in left field as it was very busy out there.

In the third game, we took on Showtime.  We fell behind in the first inning 1 - 0.  In the fourth inning, Amy lead off with a hit.  Bailee ran for her and stole second base.  Addi collected a hit to move Bailee to third and Katie followed up with a 2 out RBI single to tie the score. The game went into extra innings and with Kelsi on second, Katie laid down a bunt that was thrown into right field scoring Kelsi from first.  We held Showtime scoreless in the bottom of the inning to get a 2 - 1 victory.  Katelyn threw 7 innings and struck out 8 in collecting the win.  We played some unbelievable defense as Addi accounted for 8 outs while Brittanee played a part in 5 different outs.  Amy had 3 hits in the game, including a double.

In the fourth game, we played Twisters again.  We scored in the first inning on a double by Kodi and an RBI single from Amy.  We gave up 2 runs in the first inning and that was all the scoring in the game.  We did have 1 more chance in the last inning as Addi lead off with a double but we were not able to bring her around to score.  Abby threw a very good game by allowing 0 earned runs in 4 innings.

In the fifth game, we took on Showtime, once again.  We jumped out to a 4 - 0 lead in the second inning.  After back to back singles from Kelsi and Katie, Shania followed with an RBI double.  Kodi followed that with a 2 RBI double and Katelyn knocked in the final run of the inning with a single.  Showtime responded with 5 runs in the third inning.  We left the bases loaded in the bottom of the third and did not score and then came the final inning.  With one out, Katelyn worked a full count and then a walk.  After another out Amy had an infield hit that Katelyn came around to third on.  So, with 2 outs and a one ball two strike count, Abby lifted a a line drive over the right fielder's head that tied the game with Katelyn but Amy came trucking all the way around from first to score and forge a miraculous FINISH and win 6 - 5.  Kodi started the game, pitched well but was let down a little by the defense.  Katelyn came in relief and collected the win.

In the sixth game, we had the Twisters again.  We scored 2 in the second inning.  Bailee and Kelsi had back to back hits.  After a walk from Reagan to load the bases, Kodi lifted a sacrifice fly to score Bailee.  Katelyn followed with an RBI double.  In the third inning, Bailee lead off with a single and scored on an RBI double from Kelsi.  Katie followed that with an RBI single and after another walk to Reagan, we were unable to score anymore, in the inning.  After the Twisters scored 2 in the fourth and cut the lead to 4 - 2, Finish responded again.  Kaylon, Amy and Abby had 3 straight hits and Bailee followed that with an RBI walk and give us the final winning margin of 5 - 2 and forcing the "IF" game.

In the seventh and final game, we had to beat the Twisters again.  We started off in the first inning with back to back hits from Katelyn and Kaylon.  With 2 outs Abby came up with an RBI single and Kaylon came around to score on a pass ball after that and take a 2 - 0 lead.  Abby held the lead until the fourth inning.  After a walk and a hit, Katelyn came in relief.  A long double to center actually tied the score and after a wild pitch, Twisters had the winning run on third with 0 outs.  Katelyn struck out the first batter.  The next batter hit it back to Katelyn, who tried to get the runner out on third but she made it back to third.  Katelyn then struck out the next batter to give us 2 outs.  With 2 outs, we decided to intentionally walk the next hitter to load the bases.  The first pitch was a little too far outside and got away from Amy.  As Amy went back to get the ball, Katelyn came in to cover home and Amy threw a strike to her and she tagged the runner out on a very close play and end the inning and the threat.  In the extra inning, Amy came up with Kaylon on second and lifted a line drive over the center fielder's head to score Kaylon.  Amy came all the way around to score and collect a homerun on the play and take a 4 - 2 lead.  In the bottom of the inning, Twisters scored a run to make it 4 - 3 and with a runner on third and 2 outs, Kaylon fielded a ground ball and threw the girl out to end the game and the tournament.

What an incredible tournament with some crazy FINISHES!!  You girls continue to do it over and over as you show how much HEART you have and your never quit attitude is fantastic.  I truly consider it an honor to be your coach.

Finish Wins Fall Festival In Mustang

Finish finally gets back together for a fall tournament in Mustang.  We ended up going 6 and 1 on the day and played all day on Saturday.  We definitely started out slow but got stronger as the day went on.

In the first game, we won 1 - 0 against Oklahoma Reign.  Kaylon led off the game with a hit and came into score on a sacrifice from Brittanee for the games only run.  Abby threw 3 innings and struck out 5 in picking up the win.

In the second game, we played the Rebels.  We came away with a victory on a 3 - 1 score. Addi had the only RBI in the game while Kierra and Brittanee scored on passed balls.  Kodi pitched 3 innings and struck out 4 in picking up the victory.  Amy threw out her first runner of the fall.

In the third game, we played Badside and the bats woke up a little bit with 6 hits and forged a final score of 6 - 0.  Kodi collected 2 hits and Amy scored 2 runs, while Katelyn had 2 RBI's in the game.  Katelyn threw 4 innings also, striking out 11 in the game while collecting the win.  Addi threw out her first runner of the fall.

In the fourth game, we played the North Texas Thunder.  After giving up a run in the first and being down for 2 innings, Kodi walked in the third and came around to sccore on a bunt from Katelyn.  In the bottom of the third inning, Amy threw a runner out at third from her knees.  Awesome job!  In the International Tie Breaker, Bailee scored on an RBI single from Kaylon Dunn.  Katelyn came in relief and struck out the last 5 batters in a row to collect the win after Abby struck out 7 in the first 3-1/3 innings. Finish takes the Thunder 2 - 1.

In the fifth game, we took on a tough Posse team.  We held on for a while but 4 in the bottom of the fourth did us in and the 2 runs we scored in the fifth wern't enough as we lost 4 - 2.  Reagan and Bailee scored runs on an RBI hit from Kierra and Brittanee hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  Kodi took the tough luck loss but pitched well most of the game.

In the sixth game, we played Badside again and the bats came alive again.  We collected 11 hits and won 8 - 0.  In the first inning, three consecutive hits loaded the bases for Amy.  Amy lifted a line drive over the fence for her first career HOMERUN.  It was also the first homerun for anyone for Finish.  WHAT A ROCKET HIT!!!.  Brittanee followed up with a hit after an Addi walk.  Bailee forced out Addi at third but an RBI single from Kierra scored Bailee and Brittanee.  Kaylon lead off the 2nd with a triple and scored on an overthrow.  Kaylon scored the last run in the fourth after a hit and an RBI single from Amy giving her 5 RBI's in the game.  Reagan made her Finish pitching debut and gave up 0 runs over the final 2 innings to pick up the win.

In the tournament finals, we took on Posse again.  This time, we brought the bats and collected 7 hits in the game.  In the first inning, Katelyn hit a triple and scored on an RBI single from Amy.  Amy came around to score on an Abby base hit to give us a 2 - 0 lead after one inning.  In the third inning, Katelyn hit her second triple of the game and scored on an RBI single from Amy.  In the fourth inning, Kierra had a hit and thanks to her hustle she made it to third on a bunt from Reagan and ended up scoring on the overthrow at third.  Kodi, picked up the win while pitching 2 innings and striking out 2.  Katelyn came in relief and threw the final 3 innings in recording the save, while striking out 4.  Amy threw out another runner in the game trying to steal, while Finish wins the championship game 4 - 0.

What a great start to a very short fall season!!  Amy and Addi combined to throw out 4 base runners and Kodi, Katelyn, Reagan and Abby combined to allow 6 runs in 7 games.  Great work on Saturday girls and special thanks to Kierra for coming and helping us out as we really needed her this weekend.  See you all next weekend!

Finish Takes 5th In Colorado Fireworks Tournament

Another tournament played as this one was in Colorado.  A nice tournament for Finish as we played all week and seem to get up before dawn almost every day.

In the first game, we took on Colorado Commotion and came away with a 13 – 0 victory.  Lots of hitting as Brittanee had 3 hits, while Abby, Courtney and Katelyn had 2 hits apiece.  Abby knocked in 4 runs and threw 4 innings without allowing a hit or a run, while striking out 4 and collecting a win.

In the second game, we took on Texas Ice (eventual winner of the tournament) and won 3 – 2.  In the first inning Kaylon lead off with a double and scored on a hit from Katelyn to take a 1 – 0 lead.  Texas Ice responded with 2 of their own in the bottom of the first to take a 2 – 1 lead.  In the fourth inning Kaylon and Katelyn had back to back hits and after a sacrifice from Courtney and walk to Amy, Abby had an RBI single followed by an RBI groundout from Brittanee.  That gave Finish the lead and eventually the final score of 3 – 2.  Katelyn threw 5 innings, giving up 1 earned run and striking out 5 in getting the win.

In the third game, we played the Omaha Quakes and we tied them 5 – 5.  It took us 4 innings to score but Amy lead off with a hit and then Abby sacrificed Bailee(running for Amy) to second.  Addi followed up by knocking Bailee in to give Finish a 1 – 0 lead.  In the fifth inning, Reagan lead off with a walk, followed by a sacrifice from Kaylon.  Four straight hits followed from Katelyn, Courtney, Amy and Abby scored 3 runs with the final RBI knocked in by Addi to give Finish a 5 – 0 lead.  The Quakes battled back, scoring 5 in the last inning to tie the game and end the scoring.  Kodi pitched 4 inning allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 2.

In the fourth game, we played Colorado Commotion again and defeated them 11 – 1.   In this game Kaylon had 3 hits, while Bailee and Katelyn had 2 hits.  Shania reached base twice with a base hit and hit by pitch.  Reagan had a hit as well as a run scored, as well.  Abby threw again and allowed 1 earned run in 3 innings while striking out 2 and collected her second win.

In the fifth game, we played the Pony Express and won 5 – 2.   In the first inning, they jumped on us to take a 2 – 0 lead.  We answered in the fourth inning when Shania and Kodi lead off with back to back hits and were knocked in by Kaylon.  Courtney and Amy followed with back to back doubles and then Abby knocked in the fourth run of the inning.  We added an insurance run in the fifth inning after Katelyn walked , she ended up scoring on a bunt from Courtney.  Abby picked up her 3rd win of the tournament by pitching 5 innings and striking out 7.  Katelyn came on in the last inning to get the last 2 outs and pick up the save.

In the sixth game, We took on the Utah Bukoos.  We came away with a 2 – 0 win after scoring twice in the seventh inning.  In that inning, Abby lead off with a double and was sacrificed to third by Kodi.  Addi, then hit a double to knock in Abby.  Shania ran for Addi and was knocked in by Reagan.  Katelyn pitched 7 innings and allowed 6 hits , 0 runs and had 8 strikeouts in getting her second win of the tournament.

In the seventh game, we played Texas Ice again.  We only collected 2 hits in the game from Abby and Addi.   Kodi gave up only 1 earned run while pitching 4 innings but we took the loss 4 – 0.

In the eighth and final game, we took on Texas High Voltage.  In the second inning, we scored a run after Abby lead off with hit but was then forced out by Amy.  Katelyn and Bailee followed with singles to load the bases.  Kelsi came up and got an RBI single to give us the lead.  High Voltage answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the second to take a  4 – 1 lead.  Finish answered by scoring 3 in the top of the third inning.  Kaylon lead off with a walk, followed by hits from Amy and Abby.  Katelyn was then hit by a pitch to score a run.  Amy scored on a wild pitch and then Kodi got a hit to score Katelyn and tie the score 4 – 4.  It just wasn’t enough though as High Voltage scored 2 more in the bottom of the third to take the lead and forge the final score of 6 – 4 and end Finish’s tournament.

It was a great season by all of you girls and you should really be proud of your 53 wins.  We played several tournaments at 14 and under and the rest in highly competitive 12 and under tournaments.  It was a privilege watching each of you grow and become better players, as well as better people.

Finish takes 2nd at USSSA 14 and under State Tournament

Another very solid tournament for Finish.  Playing in a difficult 14 USSSA State Tournament, we had an opportunity to see some pretty solid teams.

In the first game we played En Fuego.  They had some really good pitching and held us to 2 hits in winning 2 – 0.  Amy and Addi had the hits and Kodi pitched extremely well giving up 2 unearned runs and striking out 5 in 4 innings.

In the second game, we took on Edge.  In the first inning, we grabbed an early 2 – 0 lead with Kaylon and Katelyn leading off with hits and Brittanee knocked in Kaylon on a bunt.  Courtney(running for Amy) came around to score after Amy walked.  In the second inning, we added another run with Shania leading off the inning with a single and scoring on a triple by Kaylon.  In the third inning, Brittanee started off by getting hit.  She ended up scoring on an illegal pitch and giving us the win with a final score of 4 - 0.  Abby and Kaylon had 2 hits each in the game and Abby collected the win, pitching 3 innings and striking out 2.

In the third game, we played Thunder.  After 2 innings of no scoring, Finish finally broke through.  Reagan walked, followed by a bunt hit from Kodi and Katelyn.  Reagan and Kodi came around to score on a throwing error.  Katelyn then scored on a sacrifice fly from Amy.  In the fourth inning, Addi started with a hit, Brittanee walked and Kelsi scored Addi on a bunt base hit.  Reagan followed with a bunt RBI as well.  Kelsi came around to score later in the inning on an error.  Katelyn, pitched 5 innings striking out 8 and collecting the win in a 6 – 0 game.

In the fourth game, we played Owasso Starz again.  In the second inning, Addi and Brittanee lead off with walks followed by an RBI single from Kodi.  Shania and Kelsi walked.  Katelyn then had an RBI single followed by a 2 RBI double from Courtney.  Amy ended the scoring with a sacrifice fly and give Finish a 6 – 0 lead.  In the third inning, Addi walked and scored on a triple from Kodi.  Kodi also gave up 0 earned runs in collecting the win in the 7 – 1 victory.

In the fifth game we played the Edge again.  With the game scoreless, we broke through again in the third inning.  Kodi started us with a single followed by an RBI single from Bailee.  Reagan walked and then Kaylon knocked in 2 runs with a hit.  After Katelyn singled, Amy came through with her third sacrifice fly of the weekend scoring Kaylon.  We lead 4 – 0 after the third inning.  In the fourth inning, we busted the game wide open.  Addi, Brittanee and Kodi had 3 straight hits,  Bailee followed up with an RBI walk.  Courtney came up and knocked in 2, later in the inning while Amy had an RBI single to forge the final score of 9 – 2.  Abby struck out 3 in 4 innings to pick up the win.

In the sixth game, we played the Owasso Starz.  It was a very good game with Finish grabbing the lead in the top of the third inning.  Kaylon lead off the inning with a triple and Katelyn was hit by a pitch.  After a double play on a bunt, Amy had a single and then Addi had an RBI single to take a 1 – 0 lead.  Owasso answered in the bottom finally getting to Katelyn after she had struck out 7 girls and scored 4 runs to take a 4 – 1 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth we fought back with Shania scoring on a triple from Kaylon but we fell short 4 – 2.

In the final game, we had to play Owasso for a third time.  We scratched for a run in the first.  After Kaylon walked and then was replaced by Shania after twisting her knee, Addi knocked Shania in to take a 1 – 0 lead.  Owasso came back in the third to score 3 and 1 more in the fourth inning to beat Finish by a final score of 4 – 1.

Great tournament by a bunch of great girls once again.  We took a risk by playing in 14 and under state instead of 12’s.  Once again you girls responded by going out there and playing your heart’s out.  You should be very proud of your accomplishment.  You beat some good teams and you lost to a really good team in the finals.  Nothing to be ashamed of and will only make you better.  Nice going girls!!!

Finish Plays In ASA Hall Of Fame Tournament

Well we got our first taste of National Tournament play this year.  We were very competitive all weekend and played really well.

In the first game, we drew a very tough Frost Comets team, who ended up winning the tournament. We jumped on them quick in the first inning with a 2 run double by Abby scoring Amy and Courtney. We scored a second run on a hit by Katelyn to score Kodi and take a 3 - 0 lead.  The Comets responded with 7 unanswered runs to defeat Finish 7 - 3.  Finish also scored more runs than anyone else did in the tournament on the Comets.

In the second game, we took on Nemesis.  Amy had an RBI double in the first inning scoring Abby.  Nemesis answered with 1 in the first and 3 in the second.  Down 4 - 1 in the fourth inning, Amy lead off with a single, followed by a double from Addi.  Brittannee then had a bunt base hit.  Kelsi  picked up an RBI, followed by an RBI single from Reagan.  Brittanee rounded out the scoring, coming in on a wild pitch.  Nemesis, once again comes back for a run to take a 5 - 4 lead in the fourth inning.  Finish then unloaded in the fifth inning.  Katelyn and Abby lead off with walks followed by consecutive singles by Amy and Addi.  Brittanee takes one off the helmet to get an RBI.  Kelsi then has an RBI single, while Reagan walks to score another run.  Courtney follows up with a two run single and the "Triple Queen" Abby knocks two more in with a triple to end the scoring and the final score of 13 - 5.  Kodi allowed 0 earned runs in 3 1/3 innings and Katelyn pitched the final 1 2/3 to pick up the win. Addi and Amy had 3 hits apiece.

In the third game, we played Orland Park Express.  After starting out slow, we scored 2 runs in the third inning.  Kelsi and Kaylon both got on base followed by an RBI groundout by Courtney.  Abby then followed up with an RBI single.  Orland Park brought the score to 2 - 1 in the fourth inning to which we added a run in the bottom of the inning.  Addi lead off with a single followed by Brittanee doing the same.  Addi was forced out but then Kelsi had a hit and then an RBI single from Kaylon made it 3 - 1.  Then came the fifth inning.  Abby reached first to start the inning, followed by back to back hits from Amy and Addi.  After a walk to Brittanee, Bailee came through with a big 2 run double.  Kelsi then delivered an RBI single followed by a bunt hit from Kodi.  Kaylon, blew the game open with a 3 run double and scored the final run of the game on a base hit from Courtney and a final score of 11 - 1. Kelsi had 3 hits in the game, while Kaylon drove in 4 runs and Abby allowed 1 earned run in 5 innings, striking out 4 and getting a win.

In the fourth game, we played Texas Fury.  What a hard fought game on both sides. We left 2 runners on base in the first, second and third innings.  We left one more on in the fourth inning before Abby finally coming through with a 2 run double(I thought she hit triples) in the fifth, scoring Katelyn and Courtney.  Unfortunately, Fury answered with 3 in the bottom of the fifth inning and as time expired to win 3 - 2.  Great game by both teams.

Finish had a very strong showing and really competed all weekend against some of the best teams across the United States.  Way to show more than just Oklahoma how to play ball hard and with heart!!  Great weekend!!!!

Finish Takes Second in Kansas City

What a fantastic tournament in Kansas City.  You girls played a lot and with heart the whole weekend.  You should be very proud of your accomplishments this weekend.  We grew so much as a team together.  Congratulations on your FINISH.

In game one, we played Team Power and won by a 6 – 0 score.  We had 9 hits in the game with Katelyn and Bailee collecting 2 hits each.  With the score only 2 – 0 in the third we busted it wide open with back to back to back RBI’s from Reagan, Courtney and Katelyn to bring us to the final score.  Katelyn also pitched striking out 7 and collecting the win.

In game two, we played Missouri Pride.  After falling behind 4 – 0 in the first inning, we pecked away at the score.  We scored in the second on a passed ball with Kaylon scoring and then Kelsi knocked in Abby with a double.  In the third inning, Amy had an RBI single scoring Courtney to make it 4-3.  In the last inning, Reagan took a tough pitch in the middle of the back with the bases loaded to score the tying run which was Abby.  Shania and Kelsi both had hits in the inning, while Abby led off the inning with a walk.  In the ITB, we exploded for 4 runs.  Brittanee had an RBI double, followed by an RBI single from Amy.  Kaylon then hit an RBI single, followed by an RBI triple by Abby to finish out the scoring and the win 8 – 4.  Kodi gave up one earned run in 3 1/3 innings while striking out 4.  Katelyn pitched the last 1 2/3 innings to pick up her 2nd win of the day.

In game three, we played Swingbuilders and collected 6 hits in a 6 – 0 win.  We scored 5 in the first inning with Amy scoring 2 on a big RBI double deep over the left fielders head.  Courtney and Katelyn came around to score. Four batters later Abby picked up her second triple of the day knocking in Amy, Bailee and Kelsi.  We did not score again until the fourth inning when Courtney knocked in Shania on a ground out.  Abby also pitched in the game and allowed 0 runs while striking out 5 in 5 innings and picked up a win.

In game four, we brought the bats!!!  We had 16 hits and picked up a 12 – 1 win against Nebraska Nemesis.  Katelyn had 3 hits, while Courtney, Addi, Kaylon, Shania and Kodi all collected 2 hits apiece.  Kodi picked up 3 RBI’s while Abby, Kaylon and Amy had 2 each.  Katelyn notched her 3rd win of the day and struck out 6 in 3 innings.  Kodi threw the last inning allowing 0 runs and striking out 1.

Starting Sunday morning in game five, we did it again!!  We collected 15 hits and won 12 – 1 again against the Diamond Skilz.  Kaylon had 3 hits while Katelyn, Brittanee, Addi, Kelsi and Reagan all had 2 hits.  Brittanee, Addi and Kelsi all knocked in 3 runs.  Kodi, threw 4 innings, allowing only 1 run and striking out 3 to pick up the win.

In game six, we took on a tough St. Louis Chaos team.  We took our first loss of the tournament but not without a fight.  We hit the ball hard all game but Chaos made some really good plays and held us to 2 hits and they won 2 – 0.  Abby threw really well in allowing just 2 runs over 5 innings.

Monday morning brought the beginning of bracket play.  The bats came back to life as we defeated the Originals 12 – 0.  Amy, Katelyn and Abby all collected 3 hits in the game with Abby picking up her 3rd triple of the weekend.  Katelyn, Amy, Bailee and Abby all picked up 2 RBI’s, as well.  Abby also threw 4 scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out 3 batters.

In game two of the bracket, we had a very tough game against the Skinners.  We fell behind 3 – 0 in the top of the second inning but answered by scoring 2 in the bottom of the second.  Addi and Kaylon lead off the inning with base hits.  Kelsi then drove Addi in with a base hit and Kaylon scored on a passed ball.  In the third inning, Brittanee lead off with a walk and then Amy followed up with a triple to score Brittanee.  Addi followed that with an RBI double to bring us to the final score of 4 – 3 and a big win for Finish.  Katelyn allowed 0 earned runs, while pitching 5 innings and striking out 7, while picking up the win.

In game 3 of the bracket, we played the number one seed on our side of the bracket in the Miami Express.  We jumped on them early by scoring Katelyn and Brittanee on back to back RBI singles from Addi and Kaylon.  In the second inning, Abby lead off with a single followed by another single by Courtney.  After 2 quick outs Amy came through with an RBI single to push the score to 3 – 0.  In the third inning with 2 outs, Abby got us going again by getting a base hit, followed by 2 consecutive walks to Courtney and Katelyn.  Abby came in to score on a passed ball and then Brittanee lined a 2 run single to make the final score 6 – 0.  Kodi was locked in as she allowed only 3 hits in 4 innings and striking out 5.

In the championship game, we played that tough St. Louis Chaos team again.  After falling behind 5 – 0, we battled back by scoring 2 runs in the second inning, all with 2 outs.  Kaylon started things with a  base hit and then Bailee knocked her in with a double.  Kelsi followed up by knocking in Bailee.  We had 1 hit in the third, 2 hits in the fourth and 3 hits in the fifth but could never put any more runs on the board.  It was a tremendous effort the whole game and you girls never quit but we fell just a little short in losing 5 – 2.

Welcome aboard and congratulations to Tela as she got her first taste of tournament play as a coach in the 12 and under ball world.  This was an awesome experience, that I hope each of you learned from.  I certainly know we got better and we learned we can overcome giving up runs early in the game, we can score lots of runs and we can score in more than just one inning in a game.  Lots of good things out there and we left our mark on Kansas City.  Way to Finish!

Tuttle Tournament in Norman - 14 Under

A very solid weekend by Finish.  We ended up going 3 and 2 on the weekend but both losses were in extra inning games.

In game one, we played Extreme Friday night.  The score was 3 - 0 and a win for Finish.  Shania had 2 hits and an RBI with Brittanee and Abby picking up RBI's as well.  Abby also threw a one hitter while striking out 7 and picking up the win.

In game 2, we played Magic.  We took the early lead in the first inning with Katelyn scoring, giving us a 1 - 0 lead.  Magic scored 3 in the last inning to take a 3 - 1 lead.  Finish answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.  Katelyn and Brittanee both scored.  Magic scored a run in the International Tie Breaker while Finish didn't, due to some bad coaching.   Hey, we all make mistakes.  The best thing to do, is to learn from them.  That includes me, girls.  Kodi pitched 2.33 innings and struck out 3 while giving up 3 runs.

In game 3, we played the Lady Warriors.  Finish battled back from an early 2 - 0 deficit by scoring 1 in the third, 3 in the fourth and 4 in the fifth to win 8 - 3.  Kaylon had 2 hits and an RBI, while Abby had 3 hits and 2 RBI's.  Reagan and Amy had 2 RBI's apiece as well.  Abby relieved Katelyn after she took a ball off her head and picked up the win.

In game 4, we played the Lady Jokers and won 12 - 0.  Kodi struck out 3 and allowed one hit in picking up the win.  Bailee and Addi had 3 hits each and Bailee picked up 2 RBI's.  It was a very balanced hitting game as Katelyn, Addi, Amy, Courtney, Brittanee and Reagan all drove in 1 run each.  Shania picked up another hit and had hits in 3 of the first 4 games.

In game 5, We played the McAlester Knockouts to an extra inning, tough 5 - 4 loss.  Each team scored 1 in the third.  Finish scored by Addi driving in Kaylon.  But the Knockouts went ahead 3 - 1 in the fourth inning.  Finish makes another comeback by scoring 2 runs in the last inning.  Kaylon and Katelyn both scored on the same passed ball to tie it up.  Great hustle to make that happen.  After taking a 4 - 3 lead, in the International Tie Breaker, on an RBI groundout from Bailee scoring Kodi, the Knockouts answered with 2 runs to send Finish home.  Addi and Amy each had 2 hits in the game.

A solid tournament with some very good competition.  You girls did so good and competed very well.  You never quit, just like always!!  Here is wishing well to Kaylon (get well), Addi (stop getting hurt) :-) and welcoming Kelsi back to Finish.  We have lots of ball left to play.  Let's hit it!!

Finish takes 2nd in Waco, Texas

A very good showing for the weekend as we went 4 and 1, losing only the championship game in a real nail-biter!!

In the first game, we punded out 11 hits in defeating the Texas Misfits 6 - 0.  Kaylon, Addi and Reagan collected 2 hits each while Reagan drove in 2 runs.  Abby threw a perfect game while striking out 2 in 3 innings and collecting the win.

In the second game, we took on a very good Texas Blaze team.  Katelyn, Bailee and Reagan all collected 2 hits with Bailee and Reagan each picking up 2 RBI's as this game was blown open in the second international tie breaker 6 to 2.  Kodi threw 2 1/3 innings allowing 1 run and Katelyn came on and threw the final 3 2/3 innings to pick up the win.  We came back from a 1 to 0 deficit after 3 innings in this game to win. Nice comeback!!!!!

In the third game, we took on Chaos and needed 5 innings to score but was able to do so and take a 2 to 0 win as time expired.  Katelyn threw 5 innings and struck out 9 while getting her second win of the tournament.  In the final inning, Abby lead off with a walk, stole second and scored on Kodi's RBI single. Reagan followed up with an RBI single of her own to finish the scoring.  Batman Bailee had 2 more hits in this game as RBI Reagan picked up her 5th RBI in 3 games.

In the fourth game against Young Legends we had another International Tie Breaker.  After falling behing again 1 - 0, we came back in the fifth inning to tie the game.  Brittanee lead off the inning with a single followed by Shania getting hit by a pitch.  After an Abby single to load the bases, Kaylon forced in Brittanee with a base on balls.  In the international tiebreaker Reagan singled Brittanee to third and Abby hit a high hopper to short that Brittanee scored on with a very close play at the plate to win the game.  Abby threw one of her best games of they year while pitching 5 1/3 inninings and allowing a single run while striking out 3.

In the final game, we had the Young Legends again.  Kodi had 2 hits in the game for us.  Young Legends grabbed a 1 run in the first inning, to which we answered in the 3rd inning to tie the score.  Reagan lead off the third inning with a walk and Kaylon followed with a single.  Katelyn then tried to sacrifice a bunt to get Reagan in but a good defensive play by Young Legends got her out.  With 2 outs and runners on second and third Amy delivered an RBI single to left field that scored Kaylon but Katelyn was gunned down at the plate in a very close play.  Young Legends went on to score a run the next inning to forge the final score of 2 to 1 and the lone loss of the weekend for Finish.

It was a great tournament with lots of competition all the way through.  You girls never quit and played from behind what seemed like the entire tournament.  You have no quit in you and I love that.  Keep pushing hard and let's start a game with a lead once!!! :-)

Finish goes undefeated in Bailey Smith Memorial Tournament

What a great start to 2009:

In our first game of the weekend and year, Finish takes Badside down with a 6 – 0 score.  Amy and Kaylon were the hitting stars for this game as both hit home runs and had 2 hits apiece.  Kodi pitched a complete game to pick up the win with 7 strikeouts.

In the second game, we played the always tough Twisters.  What a great game that ended with no one scoring.  It was a 0 – 0 tie.  YUCK!!  Anyway, our bats were definitely sleeping for this game but we did compete very well and was able to salvage a tie.  Katelyn pitched the entire game  and struck out 7 while allowing 0 runs.  Amy had the lone hit of the game for us.

In the third game, we played Moore Heat and finished with a 7 – 1 victory.  Bailee and Amy scored 2 runs each and Reagan had 2 hits in the game.   Kodi pitched again to another victory as she struck out 5 in her complete game.

The fourth game was a real close one with Gametime.  Finish took a 2 – 1 win against a very good team.  Kaylon Dunn had a triple and scored the first run while Shania was able to get Kaylon in to score.  Shania, then came around to score as well.  Katelyn took the victory on this game, while giving up just the one run.  This was a hard fought game by both teams and was really fun to be a part of.

The fifth game brought us Faster Image.   We took a 7 – 1 win first thing Sunday morning.   Amy and Katelyn had 2 hits apiece and Kaylon scored 2 runs.  Shania added an RBI double in the game and Kodi picked up her 3rd win off the weekend by striking out 5 girls.

The sixth game came against Posse and we seemed to finally get our bats going in this game with a 7 – 1 victory.  We hit the ball more consistent and harder throughout this game.  Amy and Reagan had 2 hits apiece.  Caitlin Hall had a big 2 RBI single and Courtney had a big RBI single, as well.  Katelyn Brown gave up 1 run and struck out 6 in picking up a win.

A pretty good first weekend out.   Amy was a monster at the plate as she hit 1 double, 2 triples and a home run to go along with her .667 batting average.   Reagan followed Amy with a .571 batting average followed by Courtney and Kaylon with  a .429 batting average.   Bailee made her successful debut at first base and it is a good thing she is tall from some of our throws.  J  Kodi and Katelyn went undefeated on the weekend as Kodi struck out 17 girls in 8 innings while Katelyn struck out 16 in 11 innings.   Great weekend girls and we really have a chance at being a truly special team this year.  Let’s stay focused each and every game and we will compete every time.  Nice going!!!!

Hall Of Fame Tournament - 14 under

Finish had a good showing in this Hall Of Fame Tournament.  We were playing teams that were older than us throghout the tournament.  We competed in each game, while going 1 and 2 on the weekend.  Special thanks to Rachel Copus for helping us out this weekend.

In game one, we played the Canes.  After falling behind in the first inning 3 - 0, we made a comeback and goto to 3 - 2 before Canes scored 2 in the last inning to make it a 5 - 2 final score.  Courtney had an RBI single with Bailee picking up an RBI in the game as well.

In game two, we played En Fuego.  Again, Finish fell behind 2 - 0 this time.  Katelyn knocked in Courtney and then Caitlin drove in Katelyn to forge a 2 - 2 tie.  En Fuego took a 3 - 2 lead in the bottom of the third.  In the fourth inning, Katelyn knocked in Kaylon.  Kaylon was on for Amy who led off the inning with a hit.  Bailee came up with the bases loaded and got a hit that scored, Brittanee, Katelyn and Courtney.  Katelyn came in relief to pick up the win.

In game three, we played Bedlam.  Bedlam scored 2 in the second to take a 2 - 0 lead but we battled back to make it 2 - 1 in the fourth inning when Amy singled and with Abby running for her scored on a base hit by Brittanee.  But, it just was not enough in the end as Bedlam held on for the final score of 2 - 1.

It was a very competitive tournament that we played well in.  Kaylon led us in hitting with a .667 average.  Katelyn and Amy had a .600 average.  Bailee knocked in 4 runs on the weekend.  We played some great defense all weekend and our pitchers Kodi, Abby and Katelyn threw very well in a highly competitive tournament.  Great weekend everyone!!

2nd Place at Del City 14U Tournament

A very nice showing for Finish in the Del City Tournament.  We braved the cold and wind on Sunday to pull out a second place Finish.

The first game started out slow as Oklahoma Blitz took advantage of several mistakes that we made and won 5 - 1.  Reagan, Amy and Courtney had our only hits as Addi scored our lone run.  WELCOME BACK ADDI.  Shania knocked in Addi with a perfectly placed bunt.  Abby took the loss in striking out 5 over 3 innings pitched.

The second game was with the Stix and while the defense was still a little rocky, the bats most certainly were not in the 15 - 3 victory.  We scored 3 in the third inning with a 2 RBI single by Amy, scoring Courtney and Kaylon followed by an RBI triple by Bailee to score Brittanee after her double.  We turned around and gave up 3 unearned runs to make it a 4 - 3 score going into the last inning.  An explosion occurred in the fifth like none we have ever seen.  We scored 11 runs.  Amy, Bailee and Addi had 2 hits in the inning, with Amy scoring twice.  Brittanee scored twice in the inning while Bailee had a 2 run double AND a 2 run single.  Kaylon had a hit while Courtney, Brittanee, Reagan, Abby and Kodi picked up hits and driving in a run each.  What an inning and game.  Amy had 4 hits and Bailee drove in 5 runs , while Courtney and Brittanee scored 3 runs each. Kodi threw 5 innings and picked up the win while striking out 5.

In the third game, we took on the Intimidators.  We jumped on them early and took a 7 - 1 win.  Addi knocked in Kaylon in the first inning and Amy knocked in Addi and Courtney with a double in the second inning.  Brittanee followed up with an RBI double to score Amy.  Katelyn, Reagan and Abby all socred, as well.  Abby picked up the win by striking out 2 in 3 innings.

In the fourth game, we had an incredible game with the Blitz and got some revenge from our earlier defeat.  We pulled out a 3 - 2 win, in the last inning.   We battled back from a 1 - 0 deficit to tie in the first on a Reagan stolen base and then scored on an overthrow.  Then we fell behind 2 to 1.  Courtney came up with one out in the last inning and hit a long drive into right field and came all the way around to score on an inside the park home run to tie the score at 2 - 2. Reagan and Addi followed up with walks and then Amy launched a ball to straight away centerfield that would have been out on any other day.  It was enough to score Reagan with the game deciding run.  Kodi threw 2 innings, while Katelyn came in relief for one inning to pick up the win.

In the fifth game, well let's just say we have seen better days.  Hats off to Nemesis as they came to play and took us down 9 - 1.

This was still a phenomenal tournament for you girls and even with the high competition level, you really matched up strong against all the 14 and under teams.  Great job everyone all weekend.

Finish Takes First Tournament Win In 2009 at Moore Grandslam Classic

What a very nice tournament ladies!!  We sprinted through the winners bracket in 3 games and then finished off the Finals late Sunday night to bring home that first place trophy.

The third game was against the Hotshots.  Finish collected 14 hits as they heated up against the Hotshots.  Courtney, on fire herself, gathered 3 hits with 2 of them being doubles.  Bailee, Katelyn and Amy all collected 2 more hits, while Caitlin Hall picked up a hit in her one at bat while Finish won 9 - 0.  Kodi threw 4 innings and struck out 6 while not allowing a hit.

The Finals brought Hotshots back and we Finished off the tournament with a 5 - 0 win against a very scrappy group of girls.  Guess who had 2 more hits?  Yes, it was Courtney.  In the first inning we only scraped across 1 run on an RBI single by Addi.  We scored 2 more in the second on RBI singles from Kodi and Katelyn.  In the third inning, we put 2 more runs on the board with 2 out RBI hits by Bailee and Kaylon.  Katelyn picthed the Final game by striking out 8 in 4 innings.
