Oceanside Girls Softball Association: Team Parents

Interested in being a Team Parent?

Being a team parent is no small task and when done right it benefits not only the manager but every parent on the team. It makes the season enjoyable and less stressful for everyone involved. Before you make the commitment of being a team parent we would like you to be aware of the responsibilities involved and the resources available to help you with this the generous task.

As a team parent you will need to address the following:

·       attending the team parent meeting (January ,2010)

·       gathering and verifying info from all players on your team

·       passing out team roster and other pertinent information

·       collecting money from parents if needed

·       purchasing items for the team if needed

·       scheduling parents for snack bar duties and booth duties

·       passing out uniforms and handling any changes

·       scheduling who brings snacks to games

·       oversee opening day team booth

·       plan end of the season party

All of these tasks will be addressed in the team parent meeting in more detail and you will receive a handout to guide you through it. Jenni Pingley, the Team Parent Coordinator, will always be available to answer any questions. It might seem overwhelming at first but please remember, you can always assign other volunteer parents on your team to help you with some of the tasks. Your only responsibility is to make sure that they get done. We greatly appreciate your involvement.
