2006 Stampede Season
What started as a idea in January 2006 amongst some friends has become Oakdales 1st and only team dedicated to this community. Our first ever meeting took place in a room designed for 30 people and we had over 125 people show up and several kids sign up. This team was built on faith that Oakdale was ready for some youth football. With no practice field, no game field, no equipment, no uniforms, and no league the STAMPEDE quickly grew into one the biggest success stories of the year. This humble beggining brought together over 180 children between the ages of 7 and 14 for one of the most successful seasons we could have imagined.
As President of Oakdale's team I would like to thank all of the players, cheerleaders, parents, volunteer coaches, and sponsors that made this team possible!

The Stampede is off and Running
The 2006 Oakdale Stampede is in full swing. We are looking forward to our first scrimages on August 19th against half of our league.
All 4 teams have impressed the coaches with the size, speed, agility, and most importantly the willingness to learn what the coaches are teaching.
We look forward to a great year of Stampede football as everyone on the football teams learns more fundamental football. These players are the future of Oakdale football and things are looking good!

Stampede Plays with Pride in Debut
The Oakdale Stampede welcomed the Buhach Thunder to the newly renovated Oakdale Jr. High Football Field on August 26th. The crowd support was great for both teams and the Rookie game kicked off the day.
Coach Rob had his boys ready to play and they showed how hard they have been working over the past 4 weeks. They put on an impressive offensive and defensive display with every player getting on the field and having fun. The big star of the day was Darius Nelson scoring 2 TD's for the Stampede. This team is a lot of fun to watch and they play some good football.
The Pee-Wee team came out and gave it all they had against a talented Thunder team. They held their own for the first 1 1/2 quarters before the Thunder broke through for a 36-0 victory.
The J.V. team met the same fate as the Pee-Wees. The final was 38-0 but that does not show how hard the entire team played. Having been around youth football a long time I was truly impressed with the way these boys played hard from beginning to end and never put their heads down. The defense played very well and the offense will get on track this coming week.
The Varsity squad played a very talented Thunder team and held their own all game long. Besides a bruising running game and solid defense the big play of the day came when Suarez rumbled up the middle for the first official touchdown in Stampede history. This was followed up with the conversion by McDonnel to put 7 on the board.
All in all a tough day but a day that every Stampede player can be proud of. We played all four games from beginning to end and showed the pride and sportsmanship that Oakdale has always been known for.

Stampede vs. Jaguars
The Stampede went to Manteca to take on the Manteca Jaguars. It appears that our parent and community support will be 2nd to none! Our crowd was bigger and louder than the home crowd all day long. You have no idea what that means to all of the boys and girls in our program! The Jaguars showed why they are one of the classiest teams in the league. Although they rolled up some nice scores against our teams their players, coaches, and fans were great to play with. All of the games were clean and both crowds cheered on their teams. This is what youth football should be all about every week!
Rookie Round Up
The Rookies showed the future is bright for Stamepde football. Darus Nelson, Broderick Medrano, and Hunter Calton all had some great runs. This group even completed several passes and I would like to compliment Coach Rob and his staff on their vertical pasing game!!!! Nelson again lead the way with several tough runs and scores again (for us old folks kind of reminds me of a young Earl Campbell). Calton and Medrano were not to be outdone as they added some bruising runs of their own. The Jaguars rookie squad gave them quite a game. It was great to see all of the players and coaches having fun while teaching these boys how to play the game. This should be a great rivalry for years to come.
Pee-Wee
Although the results were a loss you had to see the pure joy of the day when the Pee-Wees punched in their first score of the season!!!!! This I am sure is just a warm up as the boys are full of heart. The score board was a little lopsided at the end of the day but no one quit. Coach Tony and his staff should be proud of the improvement there boys have shown in just 2 short weeks.
Junior Varsity
Another tough day for the JV boys. The improvement really came on offense where the Stampede was able to move the ball with several nice runs by Vincente Baez, Tanner Kent, and Nick Garza. Once again we asked for 4 quarters of hard play and our JV boys did not dissapoint us at all. Brandon Terwilliger blocked a couple of extra points attempt and had a nice day on defense. The O-line showed that they have been working hard and opened up several nice holes for our backs to run through.
Varsity
With only 17 healthy bodies in the line up vs a stacked Jaguar team I was amazed to see the how hard the Stampede played. Justin McDonnell had a nice day with several long runs, a few nice kick returns, great defense, and two long interception returns. The rest of team never let up with Chase Benson recovering several fumbles and making some nice plays from his defensive end position. I would encourage everyone to stay and watch Coach Doug and his team as they continue to improve.

Stampede vs Bears
Week 3 was a big week for the Stampede JV. They posted the first win in the history of the franchise! The Bears were a class organization we truly enjoyed playing all of your teams. Your parents, coaches and players are welcome at our field anytime.
Updates & Game highlights to follow soon...

Stampede vs Bears
Week 3 saw the Stampede's first win! All 4 teams played exceptionally well and enjoyed a great day with the Bears players, coaches and fans.
Rookie Round Up
A big thanks to Coach Derek for sending in the highlights from this game. The Rookies tried to duplicate what OHS did on Friday night with everyone getting in on the action. The Rookies had 9 different ball carriers. The biggest new names to the highlight reel were Wikoff and Freeman. Both QB's played very well. Wikoff showed off his strong arm tossing the ball with accuracy about 20 yards down the field. Freeman was not to be out done, in the 2nd half he ran the ball 9 times for about 65 yards. Calton got in on the fun with an exciting 50 yard touchdown run 1 play after a big interception by the Bears in the endzone. Nelson ripped off 3 TD runs this week with 2 of them being for 50 yards. On defense Lasiter picked off a pass and took it to the house (kind of since the D can not score at this level). Overall another great day of fun for all 33 players.
Pee-Wee
The Pee-Wee Stampede once again played with pride and showed more improvement. They kept the score close in the 1st half with a TD run and strong defense. This squad has a lot of heart and we can not wait for their first W.
Junior Varsity
The day started off in fine fashion with a long sustained drive culminated by a run by Marcus Northcutt to give the JV team their first score of the year. Eddie Machado threw a nice pass to Joey Costa to put the Stampede up 7-0. It was on from there. The Stampede defense shut down the Bears all day long with exceptional play from Northcutt, Vincente Baez, Nick Beavers, Brandon Terwilliger, Colton Farquar, Robert Barnhart, Nick Garza, and the entire D-line. The 1st TD was followed up by 2 TD runs by Spencer Thomas. The final TD of the day was a run up the middle for Brandon Terwilliger for about 15 yards. He broke at least 4 tackles as he was determined to show why he should get the ball more often. Like OHS and the Rookie squad everyone got in the on the fun of carrying the ball. Beavers, Jacobson, Bender, Wikoff, Northcutt, Trent, Machado, Baez,& Farquer all carried the ball. The big defensive highlight was a nice interception by Christian Suarez which he returned about 25 yards to set up that final scoring drive. The lone Bear TD came on the last play of the game as time expired and the Stampede celebrated a well earned victory.
Varsity
This squad is incredible. They held one of last years dominates teams to just 18 points in a hard fought game that brough the Bears coach across the field to congratulate Coach Doug on all his players on the way they played on Saturday. The big news of the day was bad news with Michael Beavers leaving the game in the 2nd half with what appears to be a broken ankle. Out thoughts and prayers go our to Michael for a quick recovery. Again Justin McDonnel hooked up with Chase Benson for some great passes. They both played their hearts out on defense. In my opinion this was the most impressive game of the day.

Stampede visit the Cougars
Week 4 saw another great effort from all 4 Stampede teams. Unfortunatley the scores do not look great but we ran into a class orgainzation in the Cougars. Not only were they great host the teams were well coached and stocked with plenty of talent to spare. I would like to thank Vern Davidson and his board for a great day of football. The Cougars played hard and showed great sportsmanship by not running up scores when they very well could have scored at will in the JV game.
Rookie Roundup Our little guys continue to impress everyone. Not only did Darus Nelson bust off a 35 yard Td run (again!) and Hunter Calton ran great but they got contributions from everyone. A few notables from the game was their O-line anchored by the following players: Tyler Scott, Jeffrey Jones, Michael Goodman, Kizer Vandiver, Zak Cardoza, & Roger Everett. Without their effort there would not have been all of that exciting running. Gregory Wikoff hit TE Ryan Poff for a terrific 15 yard pass completion to highlight the newly found verticle attack of the rookies. On defense Broderick Medrano led the way with nine tackles against a very good Cougar team.
Pee-Wee
What can you say about a team that comes out fighting every week (besides I need game highlights from the staff). The defense held tough all day and I have to say this might be there toughest loss of the season. Some of the highligts were a goal line stand in the 1st half that saw the D stop the Cougars on 4th and 1 at the 1. The Stampede then proceeded to march the ball down the field before turning back to the Cougars after terrific 30+ yard punt. One of several punts that helped keep the Stampede in the game. The Stampede also ripped off several long runs to keep hope alive to the very end. This team is just a few hard hits away from their 1st win.
Junior Varsity
The Cougars JV are the class of Cen-Cal this year. They were able to score on 2 or the first 3 players to take an early 14-0 lead and never looked back. Our Stampede boys once again showed exceptional character by playing hard for 4 quarters despite being down 30-0 at the half. Some highlights incuded great defensuive stops by Baily Dryden and Jake Jacobson. The Cougar coach went out of his way to compliment the play of these two boys in a post game conversation. The JV squad learned another life and football lesson this week and I am sure they will use it to their advantage as the season moves forward. On offense jusdt about everyone got a chance to carry the ball again this week and the star of the game had to be Zach Bender who stepped in for a couple of injured fullbacks and really showed his ability with several tough runs thru the middle of the Cougar defense. All in all the team came away a better team and we look forward to our next game against Los Banos.
Varsity
This game looked to be a close one with the Stampede dominating the first 1 1/2 quarters of the game. The heart breaking moment of the game was when the Cougar defense stopped the Stampede inside the 5 yard line on 4 tries. This swung the momentum towards the Cougars. In the end Justin McDonnel scored the lone Stampede score of the day with a long run down the Stampede side line in the 4th quarter to avoid the shut out. With only 18 players on the team they play some true iron man ball and they are fun to watch.

Stampede vs Falcons
Rookie Round Up
The Falcons and the Stampede had an old fashioned offensive display. Between the two teams 8 TD's were scored! The Stampede were lead by new fullback Justin Hoover who pounded the ball up the middle numerous times. Hoover scored his 1st TD of the year on a beautiful 8 yard run through the middle of the Falcon defense. Darus Nelson added 2 more TD's and may be the 1st Stampede player to rush for over 1000 yards if he keeps up the current pace. The offensive line was impressive with 12 different players contributing: Zachary McCloud, Zak Cordoza, Tyler Scott, Broderick Medrano, Eric Jackson, Brandon Panillo, Lucas Mendoza, Tyler Poff, Logan Avara, Kizer Vandeveer, Travis Kent, and Daniel Solis. The defense was lead by Hunter Calton, Justin Hoover, and Lucas "Bubba" Mendoza.
The game was capped off by these comments from coach Rob, "Today, we played our best game as a team. I am really proud of all of you!" That is what is all about!!! Great job Rookie players and coaches.
Pee-Wee
After giving up two early scores the Pee-Wee team settled down and held the Falcons the rest of the way. The final was 15-0 but the Pee-Wee gave it a great effort. After a POSITIVE half time and positvecoaching in the 2nd half this group had a great time and moved the ball very well after the half. After all of the games the referees commented to Coach Jeff on how poised our Pee-Wee team was for a 1st year team and he was especially impressed with the leadership of our QB Tony Ruiz. Quite a compliment coming from the men with the striped shirts!
Junior Varsity
After allowing the Falcons to rip off 20 unanswered points in the 1st half the Stampede came out in the 2nd half and made a game of it. CJ "Picnic" Picinich ramble 30+ yards to score a TD on a fumlbe recovery. A linemans dream come true, he displayed some speed and smarts on picking up the fumbled snap. The Stampede also opened the 2nd half with a clock grinding 9 minute drive that was stopped just short of pay dirt. After stopping the Falcons on their next possesion the Stampede drove down the field. The drive was capped off by a 30 yard TD strike from Eddie Machado to Nick Ryan. Ryan caught the ball and went untouched into the endzone! This made the score 20-13 and gave our JV hope and momentum. The Falcons answered with two more scores to round out the day. Once again this group never quit and nearly put another one in the endzone as time expired. Nick Ryan once again made a spectaclar one handed catch as he fell to the ground as time expired. It was such a great catch that the referee next to him signaled TD but alass Ryan was a few yards short of paydirt. This was by far the JV's best performance of the year and a real building block for the rest of the season.
Varsity
The Varsity once again put on a great show closing the gap to 8-7 in the 3rd quarter but the bigger roster on the Falcons side came into play as they wore down the Stampede in the 4th quarter and added 2 late TD's. The last Td was a short pass that was tipped by the Stampede and landed right in the hands of the Falcons reciever in the endzone. A heart breaking loss for this group of boys. Once again Justin McDonald turned in another amazing day on Offense and Defense. He found his favorite target Chase Benson for a couple of really nice completions. Cody Cole had a nice day from his LB spot keeping the Falcons grounded most of the day.

Stampede vs 49ers
Highlights to follow soon... Pee-Wee 49ers 48 Stampede 0
JV 49ers 32 Stampede 6
Varsity Stampede 13 49ers 12
Rookie Round Up
The Rookie Stampede faced their toughest opponent of the year in the Turlock 49ers. The Stampede played the 49ers with pride, sportsmanship, and determination. The 49er Rookie coach said "For a 1st year team you are unbelievable. Next year you will be a great team. You were the toughest competition we faced this year." Quite a ompliment after a very competive game.
The defense was lead by Zak Cordoza, Justin Hoover, and Jeffrey Jones. On offense, Hunter Calton had the only score of the day for the Stampede as he scampered about 50 yards down the 49er sideline for a TD. Zak Cordoza and Justin Hoocer also ran the ball well for the Stampede. Once again the boys looked great and the coaches did a terrific job making sure everyone played and most importantly had fun!

Stampede vs Steelers
As President of the Stampede I would like to thank the entire Steeler organization for the class they showed this past Saturday at our field. Once again they have shown how to provide a program that is truly for the kids. Although they swept our teams their was no trash talking, no scoing running, and all of the kids on both sides were able to enjoy a fun day of football.

Rookie Round Up
Probably the best game of the year for the Stampede Rookies. On overall team effort lead the best hitting and running I have seen all year from this team. From top to bottom everyone of these 7 and 8 year olds played great. It was amazing to see several of the younger Stampede players step up and make some great plays. The Stampede managed to score 3 times and allowed only 2 scores. At one point the Stampede held the Sabercats out of the endzone on 5 straight plays from inside the 5 yard line. What a great day for our little guys! We would like to thank coach Rob and his staff for doing such a great job of teaching these boys the right way to play football. This team was all about team work, pride, and hard work. I can not wait to see them all back next year.

2006 Super Bowl and All Star Games
Wow!! 12 solid hours of great Cen-Cal action. All 6 games were competive and a lot of fun mixed in with good old fashion hard hitting football.
The Stampede was part of the RED team for All Stars. The RED team also included players from the following teams: Steelers, 49ers, Thunder, Bears, & Wildcats.
Pee-Wee Red 19 Blue 6
J.V. Red 0 Blue 8
Varsity Red 30 Blue 8
The Super Bowl games saw very competitive matchups.
Pee-Wee Vikings 21 49ers 0 A defensive battle that was finally decided by a hard running Viking offense that took advantage of every break they got.
J.V. Cougars 36 Thunder 8 The Thunder kept it close in the 1st half but the Cougars proved to be too much in the 2nd half. The Cougars were lead by Peoples. The runs he made were amazing and he had a great team around him to help bring home the 2nd straight JV championship for the Cougars.
Varsity Jaguars 20 Thunder 6 The Jaguars brought home the 1st Cen-Cal championship in the history of the team. A great game with the game played between the 40's most of the night. Jermiah Walters carried the ball countless times and proved to be too much for the Thunder defense. This turned out to be the best game of the entire day and well worth the wait. No one left the stadium on either side until the final whistle.
