OU Goes Undefeated in Kansas State Chartrand Memorial Tournament

The University of Oklahoma Men's Soccer team came out on top with yet another first place trophy.

OU began the tournament against Kansas with a 0-0 outcome. The squad then followed with a 2-0 victory against Pittsburgh State University. The third match was against Kansas State's second squad. KSU forfeited the match advancing OU to the Semi Finals against KSU's first team. The semi-final ended with a 4-1 victory in OU's favor. OU moved on to face Kansas once again in the Championship match.

Marcin Rutkowski scored the only goal for OU in the first half. In the 88th minute, after a poor corner kick call, Kansas scored an equalizer to tie the game up. The game moved on to penalty kicks where shooters, Steve Bernick, Pablo Vial, Nathan Barry, John Krutty, and Max Krapff stepped up. Bernick, Vial, and Krutty scored their goals while Jonesy Jones saved two shots and had two Kansas players miss the goal. The game went to 8 shooters on each team until Rutkowski followed a save made by Jones with a game finishing goal.

The Sooners were victorious in the 32nd annual Chartrand Tournament, bringing home a beautiful crystal trophy to add to the trophy case.
