THE PATRIOTS HALT A MIGHTY STAMPEDE !!!
The Patriots were a little nervous.
It hasn't been many teams this season that haven't been trampled by the mighty Stampede.
The Game started as so many important games do… with Jake on the mound.
This time the Stampede came charging. While Jake was good on the mound and threw mostly strikes… the Stampede was overpowering this time around.
Joey came on in relief. The Stampede led 2-0 after ½ an inning.
The Patriots knew excellent defense was the way to victory, but was also well aware that a game has never been won without scoring a run.
The Patriots went to work in the second inning. The Patriots batted around +1 in the second inning. SEVEN hits and two walks combined for 8 runs to give the Patriots an 8-2 lead.
Today, took a combined pitching effort by all of our aces… Jake, Joey, James G and Nolan combined with spectacular defense held the Stampede to 7 runs. The end result… a 9 – 7 CHAMPIONSHIP victory in the Old Bridge Travel League.
The Patriots now move to the Summer Tournament Season. We all look forward to continued excellence by the boys.
