Northshore Juniors Volleyball Mizuno: Coaches

Robyn Peckol Filimaua (Director) (16-Black Head Coach)
    Robyn is a head coach and club director of Northshore Juniors. She played Collegiate Volleyball at Sweet Briar College, located in Virginia. She went on to get her Masters in Education from the University of Phoenix, and is currently teaching Kindergarten at Seattle Country Day School.
    Robyn began coaching as the head coach of Mariner HS from 96-97. She was the assistant coach at Everett CC 97-98 when they qualified for NWAC's. Robyn is currently the head coach at Lakeside Upper School. 2007 season, she was named "Coach of the Year" for Metro 3A.
    Robyn has been coaching USAV from 1996-present and is a CAP 1 certified and Gold Medal Square Trained coach. She qualified and took teams in 2002 (16-Black) & 2008 (17-Black) to Junior Nationals.
    Robyn is a State rated official for for both WIAA High School level and PAVO Collegiate level. She is a National ranked USAV indoor official and a National level ranked official for Beach Volleyball (AVP). Robyn Was selected and invited to officiate at the High Performance tournament held in Tucson, AZ in July of 2008. She is also an observer for the PAC 10. Robyn has been selected to call lines at the NCAA D1 final four in both 2006 & 2007. She was selected to work the "final" match during the 2007 finals. Robyn is the Chair of Officials for the Puget Sound Region.
    Robyn's main goal is to train these girls to play volleyball at a higher level and push them to succeed at their highest level of potential.


Judson Mead (16-Black Assistant Coach)
Judson will be joining Northshore Juniors this year. He was a setter who grew up playing both high school and club volleyball in the Chicago area. He attended and graduated from the University of Oregon, where he played on the men's club team. Judson has spent his summers coaching volleyball camps. He moved to the Seattle area in 2008 and looks forward to getting involved in the sport at a higher level. 

Julie Griffith (18-Black Head Coach)
    Julie has coached for Northshore since 2005. She has been coaching club volleyball since 1998. Julie is Impact Certified and has been trained in Gold Medal Squared techiques.

Julie has coached JV & Asst. Varsity at Burlington Edison HS, 8th grade Varsity at Mount Baker MS & Laventure Middle School, Varsity Asst. at Mount Vernon High School and the Head coach at Skagit Valley College. Julie directed and coached the Skagit Volleyball Club from 2000-2004, coaching U15's-U17's.

Julie was a 4 year Varsity starter at Mount Vernon High School and played at the state tournament 3 of those 4 years . She played club volleyball for Whatcom Juniors in Bellingham for 2 years and Club Vertical out of Everett for 3 years. She was a member of the 1997 U18's Regional Championship team with Club Vertical. Julie played college ball at Skagit Valley College and was named the MVP of the Northern NWAACC league her sophomore year. She has had the opportunity to play volleyball all over Europe and the US.

Julie has officiated Jr. High, High School & College volleyball. On a personal note Julie's Grandma and Grandpa played volleyball in the Senior Olympics!

Julie's all time favorite quote is "The only time success comes before work, is in the dictionary."


Keith Griffith (18-Black Assistant Coach)
Keith has been coaching with Northshore since 2005 and is Impact Certified and has been trained in Gold Medal Squared techiques. He brings not only a love for sports but over 8 years of experience coaching youth basketball and baseball. Keith is an avid golfer and has been an athlete all his life. He looks forward to every new season and being able to contribute to the development of young athletes.

Joe Buchanan (17-Black Head Coach)
Joe is one of Northshore Juniors original coaches. He helped start the club in 1999, and coached various teams to top finishes in the region. His job relocated him to Florida for the past 3 years, but he has now returned to the NW and is eager to get back into coaching with Northshore Juniors. He also assisted various teams during the spring of last season.

Lindsay Richardson (17-Black Assistant Coach)

Lindsay returns to Northshore Juniors after her job relocated her to Florida for 3 years. She is also the proud mom of a baby boy! Lindsay coached for Northshore Juniors for 3 years and played a few years in college. She began her playing her club years for Club Vertical and finished up with Northshore Juniors.  



Ryan Close (17-Black Assistant Coach)
    Ryan has been with Northshore Juniors since 2002. He has been an assistant coach for teams ranging from 16's through 18's. Ryan has been an Impact Certified volleyball coach since 2005. Ryan has been the assistant coach for Everett CC since 2009.
    Ryan graduated from Cascade High School, where his mother is currently the head Volleyball Coach. He has been surrounded by and involved in volleyball for much of his life. Along with volleyball, Ryan participated in numberous other sports.


Shauna Robinson (15-Jade Assistant Coach)
Shauna joined Nortshore Juniors in 2008. She played volleyball for Mariner High School and went on to attend and graduate from Eastern University. Shauna just recently moved back to the area from Texas and is eager to get back into coaching volleyball.

Ron Swafford (15-Black Head Coach)
    Ron played on men’s club teams while attending WSU and then several years after college. He began coaching volleyball at Woodinville High School as the JV coach and then joined Robyn Peckol Filimaua’s Northshore Juniors Club in it's first year, 1999.
    Ron has completed his CAP 1 certification and is trained in "Gold Medal Squared" technique. He has also taken two teams to Junior Nationals. In both 2001 & 2004 Ron’s 15's Black teams qualified and attended Junior Nationals.
    Ron is also a certified WIAA high school and USAV official.
    Ron’s teams are extremely competitive and they consistently finish among the top teams in tournaments. He achieves this by selecting the best aggressive athletes and molding them into volleyball players. Ron believes in working the girls hard but still having fun in order to make Northshore Juniors volleyball a great experience for each girl.


Julie Houghton (15-Black Assistant Coach)
Julie Houghton has come returned to Northshore Juniors,but this time as a coach, rather than a player.
Julie attended Cascade High School where she played out her playing career on their varsity team. She played her all of her USAV seasons with Northshore Juniors. When Julie played for Northshore Juniors, her teams consistantly finished in the top 3 of their age divisions.
After graduation, Julie went on to attend and graduate college from Western Washington University. She is now back in the area and working in the Snohomish area.
Julie is excited to be back working with athletes teaching the sport that she enjoyed so much for so many years.


Jackie Fluaitt (15-Jade Head Coach)
Jackie joined Northshore Juniors in 2008. Jackie has been coaching volleyball for years. She took  few years off to start a family and is enjoying her return to the sport.
