Northland Girls Softball League
The Northland Girls Softball League is a non-profit, 501 C 3 organization, dedicated to the purpose of guiding the character and development of its participants, ages 4 through 18 within an atmosphere of strength, endurance, ability and skills through instruction and guidance in the basic fundamentals of softball. All of these elements are objectives to be strived for within a program teaching sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication and friendship both on and off the playing field.
Northland Girls Softball offers four programs to achieve these standards. The first three divisions; T ball, Coach Pitch and Machine Pitch, ages 4 through 8 are designed to teach youngsters the basic fundamental skills of softball including hitting, throwing, fielding, base running etc. The goal is to build a foundation of sportsmanship, proper practice habits and self-respect. Players in these three divisions are to be given an opportunity to receive equal playing time in order to help in their development. The objective is not on winning or losing but to achieve these goals.
The 10U division offers a competitive format with some limits on scoring and base running. The idea is to give the girls a chance to experience a competitive atmosphere while maintaining self respect and sportsmanship goals.
The 12U thru 18U competitive divisions of our softball program offers an advanced level of play in a slightly different participation format, which will help the players be successful in team and individual play while maintaining self respect and sportsmanship. All of our divisions require our managers, coaches and parents to maintain a code of ethics that sets an example for the standards set above in all programs.
Only with the unselfish help and dedication of our coaches, parents, players and board members will this League continue to be successful. We are committed to providing the best possible program available but we can only do this with your help and cooperation. Please dont wait to be asked to do something - VOLUNTEER.
Our playing locations are: Clay-Platte Sports Complex 2600 NW 100th Street, Kansas City, Mo. 64154; Pleasant Valley Park 5401 NE Pleasant Valley Road, Kansas City, Mo. 64119 and Line Creek Park, 5700 NW Waukomis Drive, Kansas City, Mo. 64151.
We are proud to announce a mutual partnership with Platte County that will bring changes to our League, this and many years to come. Included in these changes will be improvements to the Clay Platte Sports Complex and the preliminary construction of four new softball fields. This partnership will allow us to continue to provide the Northland area with quality youth softball programs.
We hope you enjoy the new season and appreciate your participation in our League
Platte Purchase Park
We made some great strides in 2002 with our team base increasing by 25 percent and the implementation of a 14U tournament division. Our negotiations with Platte County Parks will bring a new four-plex softball facility in 2003. We had anticipated the completion of the new softball fields by the start of the 2003 season but with the addition of the KCMO Parks & Recreation and the increase in the size of the park, the master plan was delayed. For more info about our new complex please contact: Steve Kunce, Park Planner, Platte County Parks: 816-858-3337 or Click Here! to send Steve an e-mail.
