Field Day & Uniform Pickup

Saturday Feb 13th - Field Day & Uniform Pickup

This Saturday is our annual Field Day at Anderson Park . We encourage everyone to come out and help us get the fields in shape for Opening Day (Sat., Feb. 27th) as well as the upcoming season.  Field Day begins at 9:00 AM - your help is greatly appreciated.  Wear work clothes, gloves, and bring any tools/equipment you can - shovels, brooms, rakes, wheelborrows, etc.  (Note, it's always a good idea to write your name down on all items you bring !)  There will be Board members with the Team Assignments at all the fields to help guide what job your team is responsible for.

As a bonus, we will be handing out uniforms (jerseys, hats and socks) from 12:00-1:00 PM to those managers whose team's participate in getting the field ready.  (If you are not able to pick up your uniforms on Saturday, our Equipment Manager, Brendan MacArthur, will also be distributing them from 6:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday Feb 16th.)  Both uniform distributions will take place at the Senior (westernmost) Field equipment shed.  Please make arrangements to pick-up the uniforms at one of the two distribution dates - there will not be any other make-up dates.

Also, for those of you who were missing equipment, that will also be available for pick-up.

Summer and Fall Ball 2009

The spring season is over but you can still keep your skills sharp by attending one of the two summer ball programs that we have on offer:

NRLL Free Summer Ball

NRLL has a fun, free summer baseball program for T-ball and Single-A divisions.  Every Friday during the summer, kids and parents who want to play some baseball can meet together at Anderson for baseball practice.  We work on skills, play a short game and most importantly, have fun.

Players must have been registered with NRLL during the spring season in order to take part.  Players should have a hat, cleats, baseball pants, glove, and something to drink. As in the past, parents will be expected to help.  THERE IS NO DROP OFF.  EVERY CHILD MUST HAVE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN PRESENT in case of emergencies.

You do not have to attend every practice.  You can come to one, five, or all of them as your schedule permits.  We will be recruiting additional coaches at each practice so please let me know if you can help.

If you are interested in joining us for some baseball this summer, please email Kathy Wunderli at singlea@northredondolittleleague.com (include your child's name and division) so that we can have a general idea of the number of participants.  Also, please email Kathy if you have any questions about the program.

MBLL Summer Ball with Game Play

We have made arrangements with Manhattan Beach Little League (MBLL) to bring some NRLL teams into their Summer Ball program.  Summer Ball is kids having a blast, just playing games for fun, with no snackbar duty, no practices, no playoffs, and no school and homework getting in the way.

The program offers two games per week and runs from the third week in July through the end of August.  Typically, it’s 12 games per team with 4-6 teams per division.  Cost will be approx. $60 ($75 for ages 12-13) and includes a shirt, cap, and umpiring fees.  The program is open to baseball players aged 7-13 years-old (as of April 30th, 2009) or age 6 if they’ve already completed a season of Coach Pitch (in NRLL’s 2009 “Single-A” Division).  If you are interested, please email John Petryshyn at petryshyn@msn.com as soon as possible as space is already getting limited in some cases.

Also, please consider volunteering to manage or coach a team - it’s a great way to ease yourself into youth coaching, if you haven’t already done so. Again, please contact John if you are interested in coaching.

MBLL Fall Ball

We have made arrangements with Manhattan Beach Little League (MBLL) to bring some NRLL teams into their Fall Ball program. Coaches will need to put together a team first before we can register. If you are interested, please email John Petryshyn at petryshyn@msn.com.
