TO ALL N.E.L.L. MEMBERS: WE HAVE AN “ALL MEMBER” (MANAGERS, COACHES, VOLUNTEERS, TEAM MOMS AND BOARD MEMBERS) MANDATORY MEETING ON TUESDAY, JUNE 5, 2012 AT 7:30PM AT THE N.E.L.L. COMPLEX...ANY MANAGERS THAT WANT TO MAKE-UP GAMES, MUST BRING THIS RAIN-OUT INFO WITH THEM.
MAJOR MANAGERS: THE ROMANO TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE IS INCORRECT ON YOUR ORIGINAL SCHEDULES BECAUSE OF ONLY HAVING 5 TEAMS AND IS BEING WORKED ON TO REPAIR IT.
T-BALL CLINIC: WE HAVE BEEN RUNNING A SATURDAY CLINIC SINCE APRIL WHICH STARTED OUT WELL BUT THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, EACH SESSION HAS HAD NO MORE THAN 15 OF THE EXPECTED 30 PLAYERS SHOW UP AND HALF OF THEM SHOWED UP APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR LATE...WE WILL BE CONDENSING THE T-BALL CLINIC TO ONE SESSION ON WEEKENDS ON SATURDAY's AT 9:00am UNTIL 10:15am AND WE STILL HAVE THE CLINIC A (THE 5:30pm TUESDAY GROUP) AND THE CLINIC B (THE 5:30pm THURSDAY GROUP)...ALSO, IF YOU DO NOT BRING THE CHILD's BASEBALL GLOVE, THERE IS NOT A LOT HE/SHE CAN DO SO IN THAT CASE, WE WILL SEE YOU AT THE NEXT SESSION WHEN THE CHILD HAS A GLOVE.
RAFFLE TICKETS: ALL RAFFLE TICKETS ARE PACKAGED FOR INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS (BY ASSIGNED RAFFLE TICKET NUMBERS) AND READY FOR DISTRIBUTION...DISTRIBUTION WILL BE TO A SINGLE REPRESENTATIVE OF EACH TEAM (MANAGER, COACH, TEAM MOM, ETC.)...DISTRIBUTION CAN BEGIN TONIGHT FOR ALL DIVISIONS (T-BALL, MINOR, MAJOR & JUNIOR) FRIDAY, MAY 18, 2012 AND SHOULD BE COMPLETED TOMORROW, SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2012...SUE ALLEN & CAMILLA PEEPLES WILL BE AT N.E.L.L. FOR TICKET DISTRIBUTION...T-BALL CLINIC WILL BE DISTRIBUTED ON SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2012...MANY T-BALL CLINIC FAMILIES HAVE NOT PICKED UP THEIR RAFFLE TICKET PACKAGES…ALL RAFFLE TICKETS (HOPEFULLY SOLD) MUST BE TURNED IN BY SATURDAY, JUNE 9, 2012.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BOYS FROM N.E.L.L. FOR WINNING THE MAYOR's CUP AND TO ALL THE PARTICIPATING TEAMS IN THE CITY LEAGUE TOURNAMENT ON SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2012 AT PARK CITY LITTLE LEAGUE...THE DAY WAS A HUGE SUCCESS...THANKS TO OUR HOSTS, PARK CITY LITTLE LEAGUE.
SKILLS CLINICS FOR AGES 9-12 ON SATURDAY’s: DUE TO THE LACK OF INTEREST IN RUNNING THESE CLINICS, THEY ARE OFFICIALLY CANCELLED FOR THE DURATION OF THIS SEASON…WE WILL TRY IT AGAIN NEXT SEASON HOPING FOR THE HELP NEEDED TO RUN THESE CLINICS.

SAD NEWS FROM N.E.L.L. ONCE AGAIN:
SAM MONTALVO, BELOVED COACH OF THE MAJOR DEVIL RAYS & OVER 20 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH N.E.L.L. SUDDENLY PASSED AWAY ON FRIDAY. ARRANGEMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Samuel Montalvo, age 51, currently of Hamden, CT but born in Bridgeport passed away into the presence of the Lord suddenly on Friday, March 16, 2012 in Griffin Hospital, Derby, CT; Samuel is the son of Victor Samuel Montalvo of Florida and the late Bienvenida Montalvo; In addition to his father he is survived by his loving wife Lourdes Montalvo of Hamden, CT; His sons Samuel R. Montalvo, Matthew James Montalvo, Jeremy Adam, and Daniel Taylor; Daughter Nicole I. Myre; one brother Robert Montalvo; his sister Elizabeth Federici; his grandaughter Sophia Montalvo; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 7-9 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport; Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, 2012 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home followed by interment in Mt. Welcome to our 2012 Little League Baseball Season:
We have lots of exciting things happening this year at Bridgeport North End Little League (N.E.L.L.), but it all starts with our registration process which resumes on 1/28/12 from 10:00am – 2:00pm sharp. Please look for our registration flyer we delivered for distribution to the schools and signs for other dates in February as well as under “Calendar” on the website.
Once again, we will be having a T-ball clinic for 1st time players ages 4 – 5 as well as a Junior division of players ages 13 – 14. (See “2012 Player App (Front Side)” on the website under “Handouts” for current fee schedules)
We will be increasing our interleague play at the Major Division level and are hoping to introduce interleague play with the other Bridgeport Little Leagues at the AAA Division this year.
Our relationship with the Clubhouse in Fairfield is growing and they will be available for clinics and training at a discount prices to all of our players. The board has also made a decision to limit our all star teams to two teams this year, a 9/10 and 11/12 team in effort to be more competitive during all star tournaments.
We will still be accepting credit card payments this year for registration as well as your ability to use credit/debit card for our revamped concessions stand.
We will be seeking volunteers for many positions that N.E.L.L. requires in an effort to have a fun, competitive and educational season of baseball for all children. Coaches, Team Moms, League Officials, Maintenance Crews etc… will all be needed. Please fill out a volunteer application if you’re interested in taking a more active role in your child’s experience at N.E.L.L.
You will notice some changes our fields this year including upgrades to the fields, safety enhancements and continued improvements to our stand. In an effort to continuously improve our fields, a slight increase in registration fees was implemented this year. Please note that these are the first increases in N.E.L.L. fees since 2007.
One last note, N.E.L.L. has a Zero Tolerance policy in effect again this year towards any acts of aggression or violence. Please insure for your child’s safety, the safety of other children, parents, coaches and league officials that we behave appropriately at all N.E.L.L. sponsored games/ practices and events.
