Newton North Little League: Spring 2011 Divisions

Select Season:
Majors
The Majors is our most competitive division, and it will typically consist of players who are league age 11 and 12. Children playing in the Majors must try out, and once drafted by a team, they remain on that team for the balance of their Little League careers.

Minors AAA
This is a more competitive and advanced division than Minors AA with rules similar to Majors. It is made up mostly of league age 10 and 11 players. League age 12 players who do not wish to play in the majors will be placed in AAA. League age 11 players who are not drafted into the majors will be placed automatically in AAA. Advanced league age 9 players are eligible to try out for AAA. No player under league age 10 will be placed in AAA without having played one year in AA.

Minors AA
Although it is a competitive division, the overall emphasis in the AA division is on skill development. AA is made up primarily of players who are league age 9. Advanced or league age 8 players who have played two years in Farm are also eligible for AA. League age 10 players may also be placed in AA if requested. AA schedules consist of 2-3 games a week. The division maintains standings and holds an end of season play-off. This is a fully player pitch division.

Farm
Beginning in Spring 2011, NNLL will split its Farm division into two groups, Farm and Rookie Farm. Both divisions are instructional, with the focus being on skill development.

Farm Division is mostly comprised of players who are league age 7 and 8. The season will start as coach pitch, and will transition to player pitch at a date determined by the commissioner and the coaches.

Rookie Farm is a coach pitch division, comprised mostly of players who are league age 6, as well as some players who are league age 7. League age 5 players may be considered if they have played one year of Tee-Ball. Skill level and grade are taken into consideration for placement in the Rookie division.

Rookie
Rookie Farm is a coach pitch division, comprised mostly of players who are league age 6, as well as some players who are league age 7. League age 5 players may be considered if they have played one year of Tee-Ball. Skill level and grade are taken into consideration for placement in the Rookie division.

Tee Ball
Tee Ball is an instructional league where players hit off the tee. Tee Ball is for players age 5 and 6. Most Kindergartners play in this division. Tee Ball games will be played on weekend mornings.

Tiny Tee
Tiny Tee Ball is for our youngest Pre-Kindergarten players, league age 4 and 5. It serves to start players learning the game with emphasis on FUN. Tiny Tee Ball games are played on weekends.
