These by-laws were created from the NHHS Booster Club Handbook. They were made to fit the field hockey program in 2008/2009.

ARTICLE 1 - Newport Harbor Girls Field Hockey Booster Club

ARTICLE 2 - Philosophy

    Section 1 - The purpose of this organization is to foster community support and financial assistance for Newport Harbor Girls field Hockey Team.

    Section 2 - The club officers and members shall not seek to control the policies of the school, to direct its administrative activities, to dictate program director or coach activities, nor be involved in the selection or retention of any high school employee.

ARTICLE 3 - Membership and Dues

    1 - Who may be a member - Parents
    2 - Player Fees - Adjust yearly
    3 - Inspection rights of members - copies of budget/rosters
    4 - Termination of membership - See Booster Club Handbook/Conduct

ARTICLE 4 - Meetings

    1 - Conduct of meeting - Agenda
    2 - Voting Officers - before field hockey season ends
    3 - Meeting dates, times and location - (school only)
    4 - Officers meetings - monthly during season
    5 - Meeting notification - flyers, telephones calls, cards, email

ARTICLE 5 - Rules of Order

    1 - Rules of order reference book - Booster Handbook
    2 - Amendment procedure of by-laws - each year if needed

ARTICLE 6 - Election and Officers

    1 - When offices selected - each officer is selected before season ends
    2 - How selected/Nominating methods - an officer is Nominate. Each officer position has only two nominate. A vote is counted with each nominate.
    3 - Duty period for officers - 2 years term

ARTICLE 7 - Committees

    1 - How appointed - by the officers (not the coach)
    2 - Method of reporting committee activity - attending booster Club meeting/President

ARTICLE 8 - Endorsements - Donations

    Section 1 - The club shall not endorse, nor be endorsed by an agency for profit or personal gain in connection with this organization.

    Section 2 - The club shall not endorse any activity, person, or group in connection with political activity.

    Section 3 - All intended donations of equipment, funds, or materials are to be approved by the school administration and become property of the school. Booster organizations should not acquire in their own names, ownership of items of a permanent nature. Such items should be donated to the school.

Booster club Fiscal year is July 1 through June 30.

officer's board meeting with the coaches: discuss summer camp; set dates, times, and fees; discuss uniform purchasing as necessary by year; discuss and set player fees.

Coach create, print, and pass out summer Camp flyers to the Athletic Office, the NHHS school office, and private schools.

Coach and Treasurer draft the proposed budget to present at the April meeting for vote and approval.

April

officer's board meeting: discuss fields location and usage; vote on the proposed budget; set August Parent Meeting date along with an alternative date.

Coach to purchase new goals and any goalie gear, sticks, balls that are necessary.

Secretary to get parent meeting date OK'd by the Athletic office.

May

officer's board meeting: if needed.

NHHS Athletic Director gets summer cmap flyers to Ensign and discusses the program in the PE classes.

Change the date on the banner and hang up at the ocrner of 16th & Irvine.

June

officer's board meeting with coaches: go over all summer activities

Projects to get accomplished: "Clean-up Day" for the team trailer/bin; put together, repair, and paint goals, take down the banner at the end of the 2nd week in June; board members work the 1st & 2nd day of summer camp taking registration, parent info forms, stick rentals/purchases, and physical forms.

Secretary creates the parent flyer (to include): parent meeting date, player fees, uniform pass out and turn-in- dates, practice dates; volunteer jobs (team parent, photographers for video and program, website co-ordinator, banquet chair and assistants, snack bar co-ordinator, clothing fundraiser, field liners, and program creator).
