Varsity took 2nd place in Sunset League behind Huntington Beach!

Congratulations to NHHS Varsity field hockey for taking 1st place in the Tournament of Champions!!!!

Newport played their first play-off game Monday, 11/3, vs Louisville at home and won 3-2 in the last 10 seconds of the game with a goal by Claire Ramser!

Newport played their second play-off game Tuesday, 11/4, vs Harvard/Westlake at Harvard/Westlake and won 2-1 on strokes.  The score was tied at 1 after regular play and overtime play.  Lauren Chandler, Kimmy Ramser, and Kylie Sheppard all scored with strokes to win the contest.

Newport played Huntington Beach for the championship on Thursday, 11/6, at Edison.  The score was tied at 0 at the end of regular play and overtime play.  Newport won on strokes by Lauren Chandler and Kylie Sheppard!

2008 Field Hockey players had a combined GPA of 3.31 to be recognized as part of Newport's Fall Academic Team.  However, due to field hockey not being a recognized CIF sport, field hockey will not be recognized by CIF along with the other sports.  Great job, girls!
