All Star 9's Game Results
Game 1: Newark American 8, Newark National 6: Josh Maguire was the winning pitcher, had a triple and scored 3 runs. Ellis Dorr had 3 hits and got the save. Danny Miller had 2 hits and scored 2 runs for Newark National. Game 2: Suburban 10, Newark American 9: The 9's suffered a tough loss to Suburban last week. Patrick Delaney started the scoring with a 2 run single. Ben Dewberry was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 doubles. Dewberry also had 4 RBI's and 3 runs scored. Patrick Swain and Ellis Dorr each had 2 hits for the 9's. Game 3: Newark American 20, Stanton-Newport 10 (5 inn). Stanton-Newport jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but N-A switched pitchers and ace Josh Maguire put out the fire. He struck out 10 in the next 3 1/3 innings, allowing 4 hits, and earned the win. He also scored 4 runs. Leading the 15-hit onslaught was P. Swain, who was 4-for-5 with 4 runs scored. Ellis Dorr had 5 RBIs and was 2-for-3, Ben Dewberry drove in 4 and scored 3, going 3-for-4, and Will Reader had 4 RBIs. Stanton-Newport's Carson Ruggerio had 3 RBIs and scored twice, Casen Carr scored twice, and Jason Elliott tripled. Game 4 - July 7, Naamans 21, Newark American 4 (4 inn). Naamans scored all the runs they would need in the first inning (5) and won handily in an unexpectedly one-sided game. RJ Edelman went the distance for Naamans, hurling a 5-hitter with 10 strikeouts. (He now shares the Tourney lead of 19 strikeouts with Newark American's Josh Maguire.) Naamans' hitting clinic featured 14 hits from up and down the lineup, and they ran the bases very well. Will Hoffman, batting in the #7 spot, was 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Matt Arrabal, RJ Edelman and Bryce Wallace each scored 4 times. Leadoff batter Arrabal smacked 2 doubles and Edelman added 1. Wallace tripled and Matt Steptoe added a double. Newark American's Ben Dewberry had his second triple of the tournament.

All Star 8's Game Results
Game #1 Newark American 4 Nammans 14. Sat. 06/27 @ New Castle vs. Naamans. NALL won the coin toss and elected to hit first. We came out of the gate quickly with a lead-off walk ( Koch ), followed by singles from ( Purse, Boshart & Beck ) that produced the first run. A Fielders choice by ( Potts ) produced the second run and line drive single by ( Rumsey ) brought in two more runs. 4 - 0 after 1/2 inning. What a great start!! Unfortunately, that would be it for the scoring. Naamans fought back to tie for the lead and eventually pull ahead. 4 NALL hitters were 1 for 2 for the game. NALL pitchers included : Smith, Koch, Purse, Boshart & Beck. All pitchers were kept under 40 total pitches and are game eligible for Tues. 06/30 against Brandywine. Big League Playoffs
Championship Round 2 Newark American 6 Naamans 2 Newark won the Big League Pennsylvania District 28 Bob MacQueen Memorial Championship by a score of 6-2 over Naamans. Chadd Lane went the distance for Newark, allowing 5 hits. Austin Bartley and Bobby Finnegan went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and a double each to lead Newark offensively, with hits also contributed by Matt Aleman, Christian Benjamin, Chadd Lane, and a double by Kevin Locke. Kyle Gelsinger was 2 for 3 with a RBI for Naamans. NALL wins Delaware District 2 and Pennsylvania District 28 Big League Championships. This group of young men have won 3 district titles with 2005 Juniors, 2007 Seniors and now the 2009 Big League. Next up for NALL is the state tournament starting Saturday 7-11 with a doubleheader against the representative from Delaware District 3. The state tournament will be held at Hill Field with if games on Sunday 7-12. Championship Round 1 Newark American 5 Naamans 4 8 Innings Newark American wins game 1 of the best of 3 championship 5-4 in 8 innings over Nammans. Sean Cowgill pitched the first 7 for the win and Chad Lane got the save pitching the 8th. Game 2 will be played on Thursday July 3rd 6:00 PM at Hill Field.
Game 3 Semifinals Newark American 7 Kennett Square 0 Austin Bartley was perfect for 6 innings and pitched 6 2/3 innings of no hit ball with 18 strikeouts to lead NALL. Several players had timely hits for RBIs for Newark including Christian Benjamin, Matt Farr, Steven Quindlan and Chad Lane. The team will now play a best of 3 championship series against Naamans starting Wednesday. Schedule is as follows game 1 at Naamans Concord High School Wednesday 6:00 PM, game 2 at Hill Field Thursday 6:00 PM with the if game at Naamans Concord High School Friday 6:00 PM. The NALL and Naamans represent the only Delaware teams in this league that included 13 district 28 Pennsylvannia teams. These 2 representatives will combine after the tournament to make up our district 2 team that will play against the Delaware district 3 team for the rights to go to the regionals in Dover as the Delaware representative. Game 2 Newark American 9 Avon Grove 8 Game 1 Kevin Locke pitched a 1 hit complete game no hitting Chester Valley over 6. Chris Benjamin hit a 3 run home run as Newark American beat Chester Valley 8-1. Newark's next playoff game is Sunday 6-28 6:00PM at Hill Field.
