The NHPLL is organizing our 2nd Annual Golf Outing for June 6th 2011. We want to thank Artie Savarese for all the hard work he put into this year’s event! Even with Mother Nature raining down on us, the outing Dinners were a great success for our League! We know with Artie leading the way and some dry weather! The 2011 outing will be even better! With all the health issues facing us every day this will be a great way to limit some of the viruses and bacteria that are passed from child to child.

Fall Baseball We had three teams ages 9/10, 11/12, and 13 – 15 participate in the Malverne LL fall League. Although there were no standings kept, our boys had a very successful season! Monday, August 16 New Hyde Park Little League Newsletter Volume: 12 Issue: 6 Congratulations to the Minors Girls Softball Team for Winning The New York State & Eastern Regional Championships!
We are so proud of these girls! These girls started by winning the district 29 Championship for the 2nd straight year! Next up was the section 5 tournament where they continued their quest to the State tournament by finishing off a tough Staten Island Team. Once at the state Tournament they romped though the pack to win the Championship vs Half Hollow Hills. They concluded their amazing run by continuing their undefeated streak to bring home the EASTERN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TO NEW HYDE PARK! They are only the second Girls Softball Team to make it to a Regional Tournament and the first to win it all! General Meeting The next general meeting will be held on Tuesday August 10th at 8:00 PM at the LL office. All Managers, Coaches and Parents are welcome. This meeting will be for the nomination of Board positions for the 2010 season.

Board Elections The NHPLL will have its annual Board Elections on Tuesday October 12th at 7:30 P.M. at our general meeting. 2010 Breakfast This year’s breakfast will be held on Sunday September 19th at the Inn of New Hyde Park. The Festivities kick off at 10:00 A.M. Please don’t miss this opportunity to honor our Boys and Girls for their accomplishments this season! Recipients of awards will be notified by mail. New Hyde Park Street Fair The NHPLL will be participating in the annual Village street fair. The fair will be held on Saturday September 25th. We are looking for a few volunteers to help out. Can you believe that the season is almost over! Our Playoffs will start on Tuesday June 1st for the Boys Farms, Minors, and Major Divisions. Monday June 7th the Boys Juniors and all Girls Divisions. Schedules will be distributed to managers shortly.
The next General MeetingWill be held on Tuesday June 8 th @ 8:30 P.M. in the Little League office. This meeting is open to all Managers, Coaches and Parents.
Tournament Teams Tournament Roster information to be distributed to all the Tournament Managers. These rosters must be filled out and returned at our Tournament meeting on Wednesday June 9th at 8:30 with all the required proof of residency. All Tournament Managers must attend! MS FUND RAISER FOR TWO OF OUR LL FAMILIES! A fundraising event has been organized for two of our Little League family members. Michele Chambers and Donald Barbieri will host this event Sponsored and held at the Walk Street Tavern on Sunday June 6th, 4 to 7 PM. Adults $25, Children $5. Entrance fee includes Food & 2 Drink tickets. LET’S HELP RAISE SOME MONEY TO FIGHT THIS DISEASE!
SPORTSMANSHIP! With the playoffs starting in two weeks, please remember to conduct yourselves in a sportsman like manner throughout the playoffs. This includes the Managers, Coaches and the Parents!
SUMMER BASEBALL! There will be two nights only for Summer Ball registration. Tuesday June 15th & Wednesday June 16th from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M. in the Little League office. We are planning to participate in the Garden City Athletic Associations Summer Program. There will be teams for 8yr to 15yr old boys, if you are interested in Managing or Coaching please let us know ASAP.
2010 Picnic This year’s picnic will be held on Saturday, June 19th at Memorial Park, the festivities kick off about 11:00 AM until dusk. The cost for the immediate family is $40. Additional Family members will be $10/person. We will have raffles for gifts donated by local businesses. If you are a local business owner or are friends with one, please ask them for a donation! See application below, please fill out and return to your manager, board member, or you can bring it to the office on any Tuesday evening from 8:30pm to 10pm. Or you can mail to the address below no later than June 12th. If you pay at the gate, the cost will be $45/Family.

1st Annual Golf Outing! The NHPLL is organizing a Golf Outing for May 3rd 2010 at the North Shore Towers. Led by Artie Savarese this will be a big hit and fund raiser for our League. BUYING A BAT FOR YOUR SON! Parents if you are buying a bat for your son for Christmas, please make sure that bat has the required rating of 1.15 BPF. This rating is mandatory for the 2010 season. This rating is shown on the barrel of the bat. We welcome our new players and families from Elmont and South Floral Park. T – Ball Day will be held on March 27th at the Christ Hall located just west of the Village Hall. All T – Ball players are to meet between 10 & 11:30 AM. You will meet your managers, receive your uniforms and schedules.
HEALTH ISSUES!!The NHPLL will continue to supply batting helmets for all teams as required. However with the increasing risk of viruses being spread child to child through the shared use of equipment, the NHPLL would like all Parents to consider purchasing a personal batting helmet for their child. All helmets must be NOCSAE approved. For the Girls it should include a face mask. If you need help in locating a helmet, please contact us at our phone number above. We will be glad to help you. SAFETY ISSUES! Many leagues are pushing parents to purchase heart guards for both boys and girls and face shield for girls while they are playing the field. The NHPLL encourages you to do so if you have any fears for the safety of your child.
Sunday, May 3 NHP Hall of Fame The NHPLL 50th Anniversary was a smashing success as neighbors gathered at The Inn At New Hyde Park for a night of fun to celebrate not only our rich history but also the lasting friendships which evolve during the "Little League Years". The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the establishment of the NHPLL Hall Of Fame which will serve to perpetuate the memory of those special individuals, teams, or sponsors who have demonstrated a unique ambition cultivating NHPLL while facilitating its unparalleled success. The Innagural NHPLL Hall Of Fame Class of 2009: 1. George J. Burkhardt: - Beloved President who served for 22 years - Was credited with establishing the 1st ever Big League Baseball program - Enshrined in the Williamsport Hall Of Fame for his innovative thinking 2. Michael J. Nuzzi: - Longtime patron whose generosity was endless - Pioneer who launched our 1st ever t-ball program - Was posthumously bestowed the honor of "South Field" renamed to "Michael J. Nuzzi Field" in 1974 3. Hayden Avellini: - Legendary skipper led NHPLL Boys Seniors to our one and only World Championship in 1968 - Proudly watched 2 former players play pro ball (Bob Avellini - QB Chicago Bears1975-1984) (Gary Christenson - KC Royals 1979-1980) - A gentle man who taught children the core values of LL 4.
