Check out our new bleachers!

Have you noticed our new bleachers this season?  The N.C. Saints would like to thank Matt Kambic!!!!  Read all about Matt's idea from  beginning to end ...

Matt Kambic (Chris Kambic's son), Troop 82 in New Cumberland, was trying to come up with an idea for his Eagle Scout project. He wanted to do something that would help people and make a difference in his community. One day, he was at a football game at Memorial Field, and he noticed the stands needed to be updated. He approached the NC Saints Board with his idea: he would upgrade the stands in order to make them safer. The board agreed. This started a one year journey of planning and getting approvals from the various levels of scouting. During this period of time, he kept the Borough and the Board updated as to his progress.

Matt made the project more of a community effort by asking local businesses to help defray the cost for the project. Fellow scouts and parents from his troop pitched in for three days to complete the project. The first day involved cutting the boards to specific sizes. Borough employees helped move the wood to Memorial Field and loaded it into the garage during a pouring rain! For the next two days, the scouts worked to put boards under the seats, placing chain link fence around the top rail, and rebuilding the deck by the press box, all in an effort to keep children from falling through. The project was completed June 2009.

Thanks to the scouts and parents of Troop 82 for their time and talents, the local businesses who contributed towards the project, the New Cumberland Borough employees for their help, and especially to Mattt Kambic for making our stands safer and more attractive.

THANK YOU MATT!!!
